I'm no expert, but watching the game it seemed there wasn't anything particularly "crafty" with the offense. Instead, it looked like we just had solid execution and enough variations on a theme to keep BC off balance. And it was glorious to watch.

A well coached/executed offense makes it look easy.
I can't wait to read French's take, but Fuente's offense keeps the D off guard by running different plays off the same basic looks, as you said.
It's like the bizzaro offense for us....we've had years of multiple fronts and pre-snap shifts, then break downs of the same basic plays.
I'm not sure our fan base will be able to deal......

And the thing that really stood out was leverage. All of the secondary did a TREMENDOUS job of maintaining outside leverage and playing outside-in, turning the running back to the LBs scraping overtop - ie. Tremaine Edmunds having a pretty good statistical day.
On the note - Mook (and Chuck) played out of his mind. Was fundamentally sound, blowing plays up in backfield, getting in throwing lanes. Other than 2 dropped picks and 1 missed tackle - he had himself a day that went somewhat unnoticed on the stat sheet.

Are you going to look at the Hokies' dime package? If I'm not mistake they ran it on to the field quite often on third and long. I haven't been paying close enough attention to be sure but it seems like it is being used more often than in the past.

I thought it was interesting that Shegog was getting playing time on those 3rd and long packages. Defensive tackle got subbed out, Trevon often was brought in, Edmunds on the edge (I think) and Shegog in a linebacker role, seemed a little different than usual.

Thats because its not on ESPN. They decided to show the Ville game vs FSU 30 times over and over. Just like Andrew Jackson says below, Hokietapes on YouTube. Not sure how he does that without broadcast rights violation, but I enjoyed watching it since we missed the game.

Just watched the ecu-USC game from Sat. Ecu moved the ball up and down the field with 3 turnovers at the USC goal line. Great opportunity for dbu to do its thing. Go hokies!

S. Car. was only a 2-pt favorite in Columbia. ECU probably should have been favored, and definitely would have if they were the home team. The S. Car. D is not suppose to be great.
Nevertheless, the ECU offense is formidable. Bud knows this. Should be a real good test to see if this VT defense is one of the historically better units.

Didn't make the review- Adonis Alexander had the interception playing inside leverage man and turned to find the ball with perfect timing. I was more excited about the PBU he had in zone where he let a receiver release deep to his safety (TEII) and jumped a quick out from the slot.

Yeah, that's basically how it went.
Soon, opposing defenses will see this as our offense takes the field.
Btw, this entrance is up there in badassdom.

The little things make all the difference. And when you notice them, it is like the sun burning through a thick morning mountain fog.
French in Film review:
got me like
but I see it... cant wait to read up on it! thanks for the tease.
It is tough. I made 27 GIFTORY suggestions to Joe of plays that didn't even make my review.
Only 27? Is there some kind of character limit? I was hoping for a Hokiereplay in gif format.
37, in a row?
leg for clerks reference
Doh. Thanks for the reminder. If feel stupid for missing that.
Try not to suggest any gifs on the way to the parking lot!
This post got me looking at TKP like
Leg because I was just there yesterday
.
This site makes it so much more fun to watch VT football.
I see Peoples at HB line up to the left. I say (out loud...no one else in the room) "the ball should follow Peoples".
Then I watch Teller open a hole, I see Peoples run through said hole and block the LB, and I see McMillian follow Peoples through the hole and score.
Then I say (also out loud), "heh, heh, heh, heh".
The suspense is killing me.
My f5 button just filed a restraining order on me.
That was funny.

Rewatching the game Sunday morning, the phrase that kept coming to mind was "scraping." We scraped like some badasses on D all day.
Fit and win
Scrape and fill
Over and over and over again.

deleted. didn't read down far enough.

Shegog plays the bandit position in Tech's 30 package.
Does anyone know if the replay is posted anywhere?
WatchESPN
Thanks, it wasn't showing up on my firetv espn app for some reason.

I got it using watchespn on my laptop...wasn't listed in the firetv espn app.

Giggity.

On the other hand...this is a good team that went up and down the field against a SEC defense...
but its USC East. They aren't good.... I don't see them winning many games

do you have a link to where you watched the game?
Edit: I'm an idiot and thought you were asking about the VT vs. BC game.
Carry on.
South Carolina vs ECU Game not the Tech game
