This is great for a lot of reasons but honestly my favorite part is that Ruffin is a coach that's hard not to like and I hate it when coaches I like coach teams I hate.
exactly. damn good football coach
Same. I am a fan and hated to know he was with the Hoos.
That's awesome for us (and crazy that McNeil is going from Riley's boss to DL coach in just 3 seasons). Very surprising Lincoln didn't hire an offensive guy too, considering they now lack an OC.
Well, the danger is that 'ol blind Bronc finds the acorn and hires someone who is actually a good coach and recruiter. Not saying it's likely, but it could happen.
called it!
Rare is a June sighting of the Surrender Cobra
June is the college world series...but I'd guess they'd have to make it there first
Unfortunately they won the CWS in 2015. Uva guy at work uses the mug for coffee and I get sad we don't have a team nc.
Must be the asexual mating season of the Surrender Cobra.
Quick someone who can actually read the UVA sites with their shitty interface find out if they even remember they have a football team.
Squash Finals are this week. Check back later.
They aren't taking it well
The second one raises some questions. Most importantly, what exactly are they rebuilding?
...and they thought they were Ruffin it before. Now it's REALLY going to be rough.
Haha 2 !! That guy is hilarious
Ugh. So the rebuild moves from 4 to 5
yearshead coaches now?Fixed that for ya, there, Zima Breath.
Maybe Ruffin could write a book about coaching so Bronco could put on that "shelf of unread books that's constantly expanding."
I give this news a 5 sad UVAs fans rating.
Having talked with McNeill several times, he impresses me as a great guy, and was far too good a coach to be at LOLUVA. Best of luck on the prairie, Ruff.
Out of curiosity, when did you speak to him? During his time at ECU or when he was an assistant at Uva?
While he was at LOLUVA.
My brother was part of the athletic program at ECU and interacted with Ruffin a ton. He has nothing but good things to say about the man.
I'll never get tired of French posting The Million Dollar Man laughing gif.
Pretty crazy that two(?) years ago, Riley was McNeill's OC when McNeill was a head coach. Now Riley is the Head Coach and McNeill is his position coach. Can't imagine that happens frequently.
Also, Mike Leach's coaching tree is highly underrated. Ruffin McNeill, Lincoln Riley, Art Briles, Sonny Dykes, and Dana Holgerson were all at one point position coaches for one of Leach's Texas Tech teams. Kliff Kingsbury was also Leach's starting QB for a few years.
I just had to make some gifs out of those videos.

You're telling me Ruffin can't get even a coordinator position at this point?
First thing I thought when I read this.
I suppose being at a traditional power takes precedence over getting a coordinator gig at a lesser school? And besides, Oklahoma is juicy resume credit if he does want to end up somewhere else as a coordinator or HC. Surely a step up from Charlatansville.
He was a HEAD coach at a reasonably good G5 school. Now he's making a lateral move (in theory, in actuality, OU is a much stronger program)?
It just seems...odd.
Harrisonburg would be a step up from Charlottesville
I'd bet he could have, but the draw to join up with your former apprentice at a major p5 school has to be pretty darn enticing.
Ruff has already been a head coach at TTU and ECU, been a coordinator. Why not leave the dumping ground that is Whoville and have a shot at a national title with somebody he has seen rise the coaching ranks first hand.
Let's just hope we don't start seeing VA kids going to OU
Le Sabre is in full meltdown mode. This is great.
Le Sabre is fully delusional.
But seriously, who cares what they think?
Oh yeah, I guess it's worth a laugh.
Academics? They had a football player who couldn't read a chapter book.
Ralph Sampson had a room on the lawn. loluva shouldn't lean so heavily on their sanctimony.
The most delusional part is that he mentioned UNC as caring about academics and character.
GW...George Washington? I didn't realize they've been so bad since his tenure as President!
Nobody said it was easy.

No one ever said it would be this hard.
What is something you hear at both a typical LOLUVA practice and a porno flick?
#HardThingsTogether
I don't even know where to begin with a trash comment like this. It even had multiple "hearts" next to it, which I assume means people liked it.
Wow. Pure ignorance at display. The fact that people not only think this way, but then take it one step further and think it's a good idea to express it in a public forum is beyond me. People are ridiculous.
Right? I saw this shortly after it was posted over there and thought for sure if I came back today it would have a long train of replies taking exception and calling the OP out.... not so much. One guy even seemed to take more exception to the fact that Ruff was labeled 'notable' than anything else. And the comment is still rated a +4 overall.
Truly a moment to be thankful for the the community over here and for what the TKP staff does to weed out the few bad apples that every online group has.

All of the Sportswar sites have really gone down hill the last several years. Techsideline used to be great but once we had a few down years on the field and that place turned into a cesspool. Maybe it was something with those site redesigns chasing people off but damn, I can't stomach going back over there much anymore.
You have to avoid the trolls. TSL isn't as bad at all in comparison to 247.
I saw this comment a couple hours ago and I wanted to go the fuck off. ...but that would require me to make an account on a thoroughly shitty website and it's just not worth the effort.
I did that once and got IP banned. It's a good time.
And they didn't even start it off with "Y'all downvote this"!??!!
He got a
In later on the thread.
I love Ruffin. If we ever need a guy and he's around, I'm down to have that guy here
We will need a coach in December.
http://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-teams-ca...
10th assistant can start January 9th 2018, so Whit/Fuente will have to find someone no later than December.
You buried the lead.
Never bury the lead.
Where is the fun in that?
Way OT here, but how do you delete a duplicate comment? As in, a comment that I accidentally posted twice?
More like too Drunk to Gif, amiright?
You edit it to an Emma gif and watch the legs roll in
Well if Ruff ever wanted revenge on how he was done wrong by ECU, he'll have an annual opportunity for it here the remainder of his career.
*insert sadistic schadenfreude laugh here*
Shouldn't the title of this thread be "UVA loses their best coach"?
I thought the same thing when I saw the headline.
Might as well have just ended it at the verb
