David Wilson Will Play

Coach Beamer announced on his teleconference today that David Wilson won't be redshirting. Wilson has been nothing short of amazing during spring practice and summer camp (55 carries, 265 yards). He worked with the first team kickoff return during Saturday's final scrimmage and, according to those who saw it, had a spectacular 43-yard return. He also busted off a 25-yard carry against the starting defense.

Will he see meaningful playing time against Boise State? Well, your guess is as good as mine. I'd say it's highly likely that he returns kicks, but anything else after that will be dictated by what happens on the field.

Even if Wilson sees a limited number carries in 2010 like in 2009 I don't think it's a waste of a year. If he performs as well as we all expect him to, I don't think he's staying for four years anyways. The coaches are shoving their chips in the middle, going all in, and I love it.
