24/7 Recruiting Predictions

JC Shurburtt over at 24/7 posted his predictions (free article) for a lot of the top talent, and here's how it played out:

VT - Dashawn Hand (89% of staff there agrees!!), Jalyn Holmes, Jacob Park, Travon McMillian, Raymon Minor, CJ Reavis, Ricky Walker

UVA - Andrew Brown, Derrick Nnadi, Jeremiah Clarke, JJ Jackson, Jamil Kamara,

Others of note:

Elijah Hood to UNC
Dominque Booth to Tenn
Damian Prince to FSU
Kentavius Street to UGA
David Cornwell to Alabama

These are just educated guesses (had Caleb Henderson going to Mich State, whoops), but still neat to see guys in "the recruiting know" make these picks.

i think we get Nnadi and maybe one other UVA prospect after they have another losing record this year. Nnadi dad was a hokie and it is pretty hard selling building of a program if the best you can do in 4 years is maybe a .500 season

Our biggest aid in landing Derrick Nnadi is Mr. Joel David "JC" Coleman. They both are from the same high school and I also think Coleman played host on Nnadi's unofficial.

As long as we get either Cornwell or Park I'm content. Having both may be a bad thing. Maybe not.

Over/Under 3.5 commitments this weekend?

I could see getting both Cornwell and Park as somewhat bad, because between those two and Bucky, I think we'd be so stocked at QB talent eventually lose one. So getting one of them would be great, while there could be some upside to getting both, I think it would mean losing someone in the long run.

In any case, either of them + Bucky would be interesting QB battles to watch for sure.

They went/go to different high schools but nonetheless JC is a voice of reason down in the tidewater as is Bucky from what I heard.

UVA: Jefferson's biggest mistake

@pbowman6

yea different high schools, different cities

Kendall Fuller - future Thorpe winner

JC is not from the same high school. Marcus Davis went to the high school that Nnadi attends now. Coleman went to the school where Brown attends although he wasn't there when JC was!

Is it selfish of me to want Street, Booth, Brown, Nnadi, and Kamara? Please

Selfish? Nehhh. I would just say unreasonably optimistic. Nnadi is probably the only one of that bunch that we have a real shot at.

If one of those qbs commits to us the other will most likely go somewhere else

It is very exciting to see Hand. Hand-Walker-Nnadi-Holmes along with Mihota would be one hell of a defensive line that would be freshmen when Nicolas and Marshall are juniors and Teller/Ekanem are sophomores.

I think the whole Park and Cornwell discussion comes down to one item. If Cornwell picks VT, Park walks. If Park commits before Cornwell makes his decision, Cornwell goes elsewhere. We will get one of the two, but not both.

I am anxious about one position. I want to see 2-3 linebackers, and 2-3 tackles. I am not liking the depth at either positon right now.

Viva El Guapo

Did y'all know Mihota's brother played for UVA? I think he graduated last year

French, what do you think about Chase Williams being able to step in? I know Tyler is pretty durable (recent injury aside), but if he has to step out, who goes in? I feel OK about Clarke developing at the backer spot, but agree that there is not much there at all behind those two.

Recruitment predictions are bad ju-ju!

This man gets it.

I have to take the recruiting prediction made above with grain of salt. Sometime they nail it, sometime they miss so badly, it's a wonder the donkey didn't kick them in the groin.

I support Logan Thomas and make no apologies for it.

I really don't pay much attention to ESPN's recruiting rankings because frankly, they always suck. They really don't evaluate well. Regardless, according to them, Hand is the #4 player overall. Now yes, if we get him that is still huge but when EVERY other site says he's #1 and they say he's #4, I'm calling BS. Can't wait for him to go to camps and jump up those boards back to his throne.

Here's hoping that Street is a big mama's boy! Reel him in for us Mama Street!

It's definately great to hear that his mom wants him to be a Hokie, but he said "Really, it is just based off me. If my mom is not happy, I'll just have to do something for her." So it seems like he's not listening to her. I hope she sways him.

"She really wants me to go to Virginia Tech."

always good to hear that from mom

I would really like for them to be right about Jalyn Holmes but just from watching his twitter during the draft I think FSU has a leg up. He seemed very pumped to talk about how many FSU players were getting drafted and then after it was all over he congratulated Painter on getting drafted by Denver but said "too bad it took them 5 years to figure out you could play..."

Happily, the new coaches can take that and say "Yeah, the old guys messed up. But now, look who's starting for us at LT."

Good call!
Can someone with a Twitter account tweet that at him? I think some twitter recruiting is always good...

Hokies.
