What I Want In 2013

I need to get this off my chest.  I'm been a Hokie since VT's first game on a Thursday night in the rain of the Fall of 1995.  The last game I saw in person as a student  was @ UVA in the Fall of 1999.  I was a member of the VTCC and did not miss a home game from 1995-1998.  I was also on the Skipper crew and got to fire the Skipper after every score.
These are the things I want to see from our beloved team in the Fall of 2013:
Believing we can win every game (despite what those in the media and others are saying).  This means EVERY Hokie believes we can win.  I don't want to see TSL discussions in February about how we're going to lose to Alabama. To quote Mark Twain, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog".  Every team that plays will know they are in for a fight.  Bama has already dismissed us.  I want them to know how big of a mistake they made.
I want that VT team that made top 10 programs respect us even if we lost.
I want Bama to know they WILL have to play all 60 minutes to beat the Hokies.
I want Bama to lose their next game because of the physical toll the game with VT put on them.
I want their dumbass fans to know it.
We WILL be the non-SEC team that the SEC WILL respect.
I want the VT team that can beat any team regardless of the number of first round picks on the other team.
I want all Maroon Everything.
I want us to burn the Orange Uniforms!
I want Maroon Helmets with just a simple VT all season for every fucking game!
I want STICK IT IN! STICK IT IN! STICK IT IN! The MV's can't do it, but the fans and students sure as hell can.
I want BeamerBall back! I want teams to shank a punt or give up TD on the return because they're so concerned about being blocked.
I want our defense to outscore the other teams offense.
I want to see Bud Foster's scowl.
I want our O-LIne to be nasty..
And
I want to FUCKING #BEATBAMA!
LET'S FUCKING GO HOKIES!

Yeah, and I want a lot of things too

I'm as optimistic as the next guy, and I want all of these things too. But you have to be realistic. We've made strides in the uniform, I've heard that maroon pants will be back next year. If there is one thing I'm sure of, Bama has not already dismissed us. If there is one team in the country that would fall for a trap game, it's us (JMU), not Bama. Saban doesn't screw around, they are going to come out just as hard for LSU as they are WKU, so we need to be prepared. We hung with them for three full quarters last time, and it's going to take luck, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of starting September with a W.

This what I'm talking about, attitudes need to change

I live in Pensacola. It might as well belong to the state of Alabama. I go to work with Bama fans. Believe me, they're overlooking us. Have you seen the quote from one of their coaches? I want Nick Saban to pull a Meyer after the game.

Ut Prosism. Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way. Hokie for life.

Not a pipe dream

The things I want don't require smart ass replies. The things I want, VT had when I was there. We CAN get it back. But the fans must act like it too.

Ut Prosism. Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way. Hokie for life.

Listen up

I'm a student now, okay, and shit has changed. I wasn't being a smart ass, you are living in a dream from the late 90's. I've been a Hokie since I was born a little before the time you went to school here. I want everything too, but you can't sit back and act like it's just going to go back to the way things were.

I stopped the Blackout that everyone was bitching about on here, got the kid to delete the Fla. State event on Facebook in front of 5,000 of my fellow students with an essay on what Virginia Tech football is and has become. I bitched out every 'fob' international kid in my hall that left the Georgia Tech game at halftime because it was 'boring'. I'm the kid in the stands that gets so hyped up over this game that I'm shouting obscenities at injured UVa players because I'm damn sure they're faking it. I'm on Twitter campaigning for pairs of maroon pants for guys that won't acknowledge me unless I'm in Pheasant Run and they wan't to know where the party is. Believe me I want the same things. I try hard and I go to every home and away game that I can, and I don't need your smart ass reply when I'm putting in work toward your goals while you just complain.

I want that VT team that made top 10 programs respect us even if we lost.

Then start writing, or e-mail letters to players and coaches, telling them to pick it up with the lack of work ethic against teams like Pitt.

I want Bama to know they WILL have to play all 60 minutes to beat the Hokies.

They already know that, it's Alabama. Saban hasn't forgotten the last time we played, and he's the best coach in the country. If the game was only 45 minutes long, then our kids would have returned to Blacksburg as giant killers.

I want Bama to lose their next game because of the physical toll the game with VT put on them.

Their next game is two weeks later in College Station. Johnny Football did it once, believe me I'll be yelling for Antone to hit Coop so hard he transports back to 2003 when Alabama was so bad they lost to NIU by 3.

I want their dumbass fans to know it.

There are a only few people I can't stand in this world, and that includes douchy UVa and Alabama students. Trust me, they'll know.

We WILL be the non-SEC team that the SEC WILL respect.

I might need a stats guy to help me here, but I'm pretty sure we're the 6th best/winningest team in the BCS era. The SEC already respects us, we just fell off last year. If you look anywhere SEC fans usually want us in their conference. Also, we are the next best logical choice if they expand further.

I want the VT team that can beat any team regardless of the number of first round picks on the other team.

Then let's hope coaching changes bring LT and the offense around, we've beat Miami teams that have a stupid amount of first round talent and I don't see why Frank can't do it again.

I want all Maroon Everything.

Same, and I've been a complete asshole about pushing for this for the past year, I think it will actually happen.

I want us to burn the Orange Uniforms!

Please, break into wherever they keep equipment under the Cassell or in Lane or wherever and burn them, I hate it when seniors pick out the orange jerseys every time, they are disgusting.

I want Maroon Helmets with just a simple VT all season for every fucking game!/I want STICK IT IN! STICK IT IN! STICK IT IN! The MV's can't do it, but the fans and students sure as hell can./I want BeamerBall back! I want to teams shank a punt or give up TD on the return because they're so concerned about being blocked.

Again, start writing letters, make the change happen. Let VT know what you want, not me. It's easy to sit back and complain to your friends without taking any action, do something about it.

I want our defense to outscore the other teams offense.

This is rather improbable, and I know by this point in your rant you're probably just super hyped up, but hell, I'd like for this to happen too. We have Bud Foster, and great defensive classes coming in. With the possibility of landing the #1 overall recruit for 2014, we will continue to reign defensively.

I want to see Bud Foster's scowl.

Saw him in Turner Place last semester and he looked pretty pissed, I already miss it on the sidelines and can't wait for Aug. 31st.

I want our O-LIne to be nasty..

Brining in Jeff Grimes should help, Auburn had a nasty O-Line when Cam was there, and after hearing about the inability of some coaches, I'm optimistic that we can recover and start posting a strong front on offense.

And finally, just as much as the next guy I want to fucking #BEATBAMA.

Well done sir.

well done. Much respect.

Ut Prosism. Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way. Hokie for life.

just for the record

the mvs still do the stick it in chant, just not as loudly

I don't mind the orange uniforms under two conditions. We wear them with our standard maroon helmet, maroon pants, and black socks and we only wear them once a season for the orange effect game. In fact, we should wear black socks and the maroon helmets every game. Also, we shouldn't overuse the all maroon, like we did in 2007. It's not as special when when we wear it all the time. We should wear it for the Bama game, the maroon effect game, and the bowl game.

I love Virginia Tech, regardless of the outcome of every game.

The Orange should be the piping

The orange jersey's make us look like pansies. Or worse, like UVA. The only acceptable uniform colors are maroon or white. End of discussion as far as I'm concerned.

Ut Prosism. Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way. Hokie for life.

That is true. I wasn't happy at all when I saw what we were wearing against UVA this season.

I love Virginia Tech, regardless of the outcome of every game.

I don't understand.

I am not a huge fan of the orange jersey, and god forbid they ever bring back the #ALLORANGEEVERYTHING unis that we've seen a handful of times, but why not have the orange jerseys once a year (and only once a year)? Two arguments for it:

1.) Orange is just as much of our school colors as maroon is. The maroon jerseys look better than the orange ones, but I honestly like how are school has a unique color palette. The occasional orange-jerseys-on-maroon-pants is something we can have that no other school can match. Other schools can do all-maroon, or all-orange, but none do both together.

2.) I have always thought it was very dumb having an "Orange Effect" game where the entire stadium shows up with orange shirts, but the team is wearing maroon and white. This has always bothered me whenever it has happened. So either give up your "Orange Effect" games or wear an orange jersey once per year.

I don't have a problem with predominantly maroon, but...

our colors are maroon AND orange, and we should always wear both, with the possible exception of a maroon effect game (and I'm not thrilled about that). We're not Aggies, nor are we Mississippi State Bulldogs. Our colors, like our nickname are unique in Division I, and that should be celebrated and displayed with pride...why do you want to look like the other guys? WE ARE VIRGINIA TECH, and WE ARE HOKIES, ORANGE AND MAROON! BeatBama!

gtofever

I'm okay with Orange piping and outlines

But I don't want that stuff from 2008-2009.

Ut Prosism. Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way. Hokie for life.

All maroon everything looks FUCKING BADASS, that's why we want it. I don't want the guys prancing around in tight white pants and entirely orange jerseys and helmets that burn your eyes.

Our 2003 uniforms were the best, despite that being a nightmare of a season.
Home: Standard maroon helmet, maroon jersey, white pants, and black socks and shoes.
Away: Standard maroon helmet, white jersey, white pants, and black socks and shoes.
Big home game: Standard maroon helmet, maroon jersey, maroon pants, black socks and shoes.
Big away game: Standard maroon helmet, white jersey, maroon pants, and black socks and shoes.
And we should never under any circumstance where white helmets EVER, unless it's Nike Pro Combat, and we should never wear white jerseys at home. Not even if it's the white-out game.

I love Virginia Tech, regardless of the outcome of every game.
