Weekly Weather Report The Boston Brawl

Let me go ahead and start by saying good game by the women's soccer game, we completely dominated the game and looked the better team, we'll get 'em in ACCs!!!! I participated in super hero night with my girlfriend and friends (breaking out the batman cape....cha) I also met Hokiegirl (don't know her exact title) and Joker Hokie and they seemed pretty cool! sooooo twas a pleasure meeting you guys if you're reading this. Also HAPPY HALLOWEEN sorry it took so long to get this out buuuuuuuuut classes unfortunately take precedence (damn tests) it's been a busy week and I don't like being busy... Anywho, wanted to wish everyone a safe Halloween and stay dry, we could get some rain tonight and tomorrows definitely going to be a dreary day.

Welp it happened. I won't discuss the game last week because I'd rather look forwards than backwards, except that Kendall Fuller = my hero.

Honest to God - incredible game I really wish he had caught that 4th one just cuz. Also, Exum (not Exhume) looked good in his return, and honestly, I was pleasantly surprised.

Onto the part that is my expertise (er...getting there)

For those of you in Indiana and Ohio, I'm sure you've already been warned so sorry this is so late...but yeah....its raining a lot...like a ton... but i'll get to that in a sec

The weather is doing some interesting things this week - there's a large disturbance in the jet stream that's creating quite the low pressure front that's barreling right towards us. This low pressure is Massive...and i mean MASSIVE, reaching from Florida alllll the way up to Canada dropping a ton of the rainfall and making some potentially tornadic storms in the midwest (haven't gotten to look at the Tskews today but the radar doesn't look good) luckily as the storms approach us they should lose a little power. Professor Carroll did think there's a small potential of some tornadic activity south of us (very slight). As i mentioned last week troughs (which are huuuuuuuge dips in the jet stream) create tons of bad weather and crappy stuff. well currently theres a really big one that reaches from Montana all the way down to Oklahoma. Troughs push the air northward and are associated with low pressure on the eastern side, so sense the trough is reaching as far east as Oklahoma currently, its dropping low pressure systems all around Ohio and Illinois and Indiana as of now. I really wish I could share some models with you guys but seeing as its a paid subscription for the model, I don't want to get in trouble for it and lose my privileges, but take my word for it...its a big trough.

As our boys head up to Boston (with hopefully some fans following) expect some HEAVY rainfall (and rioting, It's like...Boston won the world series or something). Friday afternoon is definitely going to be the worst as rainfall is going to pick up (I'm just glad we're not heading south there could even be tornado watches down there) and its going to be very windy as well. It's going to clear up by game day, although there's still a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. The brunt of it should clear about by Saturday morning/afternoon (sorry ladies and gents, it's probably going to rain at the Halloween parties) throughout the East Coast. As far as temperatures go, the high should be hovering around 65 degrees, with a low of 55 degrees (not entirely sure why they're forecasting a low of 48...). It will be very humid as the dew point will be reached and there will be significant moisture within the air from the rainfall during Friday. I expect it to feel kind of muggy and hot out on the field - our offense has to get a little mojo going and keep our D off the field because that running game is going to get harder and harder to stop as the game progresses. My forecast is not perfect for gametime however because there is a slight chance that as the low pressure system moves offshore it could pick up a little more strength and you could see some scattered showers and thunderstorms on the north east coast (which go figure include Boston) so there is a chance of some rainfall.

As the weekend progresses it should get nicer and nicer (as if we actually needed it Blacksburg's weather is getting nicer faster than Charoletsville...just saying) theres a high pressure system coming from the southwest thats lagging behind the trough. that should push this low pressure system out and clear out all of the bad weather, and create nice weather....cept in charoletsville where this a smug cloud of the century hovering overhead, I'd be shocked if they had a single fan show up to their....thriller?...against that...powerhouse...alright i cant even say this with a straight face UVA is gonna get crushed by them in the rain and probably have no fans show up to the game yet again

How it all plays out on the field

Well I'm gonna be straight, I'm disappointed by the loss last weekend yes but we're still much further along this season than we thought we'd be. Foster's D is one of the most (if not the most) dominant unit in the nation on either side of the ball. Look at the positive's here folks, if you had told me we had one loss in conference play at this point I'd guess it was GT or UNC (WHOM WE BEAT). We've beaten some solid teams this season and looked pretty good doing it - we just have to hang in there and keep plugging along. This week we're offered a much different issue than Duke challenged us with. BC plays a pro style offense with a dominant running attack that doesn't require gimmicks like GT. Make no mistake, their OL is good and their RB is good. We have to shut down their running lanes and force them into 2nd and 3rd and longs in order to force them to pass. Chase Retting isn't that good...like at all, so if we can force them into passing situations we will have a significant advantage in this game. Basically all I'm saying is we've GOT to shut down the run if we want to have any chance at winning this game. Our offense cannot win a track meet and if their offense gets their ground game going it could very well turn into that. Now on the other side of the ball, our offense has got to keep their D on the field, that is the key to this game, barring lots of turnovers my early prediction for this game is that the winner will have a significant time of possession advantage. The humidity will wear down on defenders on both sides of the ball so Logan has to be smart with the ball and get us third downs, it would be really nice to see our RBs get into a little bit of a groove too but hey beggars can't be choosers. Our offense really lives and dies by Logan Thomas, if Logan is on, we're on, if not...well yeah... anywho our receivers have to continue to catch the ball well and make big plays and our offensive line could see lots of slips (be prepared for this to be a sloppy game in the trenches it's probably!
