OT: Tyrod leads Bills to the playoffs for the first time in 18 years!

Title says it all: Tyrod and the Bills are playoff bound following their victory over miami and the bengals beating Baltimore today. It felt like the Bills management gave up on the team/Tyrod this year but they ended the drought anyway!

Tyrod deserves so much better than the feckless Bills.

So damn true

I haven't really been following the NFL like that this season, but I would LOVE to see a Bills vs. Panthers SB...also i STILL see fans on his social media saying "I'll be glad when we cut your a$$..." SMH..

I would LOVE to see a Bills vs. Panthers SB

I'm sure you can get very favorable odds on that from Vegas.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Had he signed to be a backup at Denver he would probably be their starting QB now with multiple playoff appearances. However, hindsight is always 20/20.

I hope Tyrod gets traded to somewhere nice with a decent team.

"Led team to the playoffs" will look good on his resume this offseason when he gets the hell out of Buffalo and to a team that actually appreciates him.

Tyrod & the Bills partying like it's 1999.

Good for Tyrod, even though the Bills tried their best to screw him over. What teams would you guys like to see him on next year?

I'm not that big of an NFL fan, but since living in DC for about the last 10 years and most likely for a lot longer I try and root for the DC teams. Having Tyrod on the Redskins would make it a whole lot easier to care about them.

He'd cost half or less of what Cousins will cost them.

And that would buy a bunch of depth that Redskins fans whined about not having all year...

Denver is a great team in desperate need of improved quarterback play, so they could be a great fit. My only fear is that the management seems adverse to duel-threat quarterbacks. They're old school.

Elway has been trying to get him for awhile, so I think that's where he'll end up if he's released. Management in Buffalo almost has to pick up his option at this point though.

Rip his freaking head off!

Pittsburgh. I don't root for the Steelers so its not a selfish thought, I just think it'd be the perfect place for him. I want Big Ben to finally follow through on his retirement threats so the Steelers can go get Tyrod. It's a solid organization with a history of patience and respect, always has a stout defense, and is loaded with offensive weapons with Bell, Brown, and Smith-Schuster. An RPO with Tyrod and Bell with the option to throw it up to Brown could be damn near unstoppable.

the jags are desperate to get someone other than bortles and tryod would be perfect here. great D, some weapons. but most of all the jags just need someone who doesn't turn the ball over. jags would be a super bowl team with a better game manager.

Tyrod leads them to a playoff win, he moves on in the offseason, bills go back to sucking for team years.

Buffalo and their table breaking dumbass fans can suffer worse than cleveland for all I care.

i love you man

Yes but they do have roast beef on 'wick!

Big Ben retire and Tyrod takes over.

Year 3 is coming up!

They held a fire sale in the off-season and benched Tyrod Midway through the year to watch the replacement put up historically piss poor numbers and Tyrod still managed to get them into the playoffs. And they're going to be stupid enough to try and cut him this spring.

The next 20 years of Buffalo being terrible might be more enjoyable than the last.

Man Tyrod versus the Jags, don't know who to root for.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

With how Buffalo's defense has played in some games this year, it would be easy to still root for Tyrod to have a good game. There have been a number of games where it didn't matter.

I'm hoping somehow that he and Bortles swap jerseys

im going for tyrod! im mad because I wasn't really interested in paying 200+ for playoff tickets the jags banwagon filed up really fast im used to paying 50 bucks for 50 yrd line lower level jags tickets but now that they are playing the bills ive been looking everywhere for decent seats at a decent price. the cheapest are 150 for upper level or 100 for standing room by the pools. ugh. #DWTD

This gif will always get a leg from me. The guy middle right is like "this guys must be new here". The guy in the very back so mad he's cussing into his hand. And then the scoreboard.

I appreciate all the support, and I appreciate all the hate I am getting. I will continue to work as hard as I can to be the best I can be and bring this team a championship. Go Hokies 🐔 - Josh Jackson

Good thing they gave him that one game off to make sure he was fresh for a playoff push! /s

People forget Peterman throwing 5 picks and having tyrod put back in is what really sparked the playoff push, but in all seriousness I'm happy for buffalo fans. They are crazy degenerates who put their friends through flaming tables, but they are good people and may be the best fanbase in the NFL.

...That's what Maryland does.

I don't give a damn what the fans think cause, quite frankly, I know what the fans want better than they do.

People forget Peterman throwing 5 picks and having tyrod put back in is what really sparked the playoff push,

genius!!! is this the first time a coach has put in QB that had record shit-tastic numbers to prove that the floor really isn't at rock bottom yet, to spark his team to the playoffs?

A couple of weeks ago I mockingly mentioned to my Bills fan friends that the benching of Tyrod when the Bills were above .500 was a real act of genius. They actually responded - with straight faces - the Peterman move was a good one. They say only one of the five picks was his fault and that Tyrod stinks and can't throw the deep pass.

I said this line of thinking is why the Bills hadn't made the playoffs in 20 years and losing franchises are losing franchises...

You know, it's all about the throws Tyrod doesn't make. Peterman at least tried!

I don't know if this increases/decreases chances of Tyrod staying with the Bills...

Hopefully decreases. I can't wait for Tyrod to leave this #feckless franchise with delusional fans. We'll know on the fourth third day of the league year, which is when Tyrod's $6 million roster bonus is due. Anybody know what day that is?

Edit: Fix't

I want to say I heard Feb 5th is the day we will know more about Tyrod's future with Bills.

Apparently, it's today.

Found it, though. Roster bonus is due 16 March 2018.
Tyrod's contract details

Edit: Fixed link, and an observation: Interesting that Tyrod's contract has incentives for Divisional playoff round, AFC Championship game, and Super Bowl, but not for making the playoffs. One would think that with the Bills' playoff drought, they might have put that incentive in there. Just sayin'.

Saving that money for Darnold? Why else would he want to go from LA to "Buffalo, Buffalo, Oh my gosh, it's 20 below!"

No way a top guy signs with them without massive OL upgrades... 3 concussions alone last season at the QB position and I am casual observer. Mebbe a guy with serious wheels (Lamar).

Saving that money for Darnold? Why else would he want to go from LA to "Buffalo, Buffalo, Oh my gosh, it's 20 below there's 20 feet of snow!"

we know who was doing the playcalling in their playoff game with the Jags!!!

The way I understand it, 2/5 is the first day of the "Waiver System" in 2018, so that's the earliest we would find out anything definitive, I believe. Beyond that, they just have to cut him by 4pm on 3/14 in order to save themselves from his $18M cap hit.

Clubs are permitted to contact, and enter into contract negotiations with, the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2017 player contracts at 4:00 p.m., New York time, on March 14. However, a contract cannot be executed with a new club until 4:00 p.m., New York time, on March 14.

Reading the link, I think this is the relevant entry:

March 14 The first day of the 2018 league year will end at 11:59:59 p.m., New York time, on March 14. Clubs will receive a personnel notice that will include all transactions submitted to the league office during the period between 4:00 p.m., New York time, and 11:59:59 p.m., New York time, on March 14.

I'd heard that Tryod's contract called for a roster bonus on the third day (misremembered it above as the fourth day) of the league year. So it appears that 14 March is the first day of the league year, and his roster bonus therefore is due on 16 March.

He wouldn't become an unrestricted free agent on 14 March, because he already has a contract in place for 2018. The Bills just have to release him prior to 16 March. If they release him any earlier, it's all the same, because of the contract he already has into 2018. (He wouldn't get any less money if released earlier.) So they'll probably hold onto him until the last minute trying to get trade value for him.

I think the Ides of March are calling for Tyrod.

The Poster Formerly Known As The Spirit Of Bernard Basham

Right, if he stays on contract, but I was just implying that he'd be cut before 3/14, making him a UFA. I'm more interested in who his next team is than I am in speculating what the Bills do. So that's why I threw in the quote about when other teams can contact UFAs. I could've made that more clear. The Bills have obviously moved on.

I think the last thing they want to do is let him go and get nothing in return. They know there will be interest in him from other teams. Maybe some team that doesn't think they'll be able to sign him as a FA gives the bills a draft pick to pick up his option and trade him. It may not work, but there is nothing for the Bills to lose in holding on to him until the last minute in order to dangle some trade bait.

coach and gm are buddies.... so much so that the owner hired the coach first then hired the gm

oh ... no ... they wouldn't do that, because then you couldn't trust anything the prospective gms said during the interview process.... imagine... "yeah you really f'd up hiring that little arsehole, McDermott - he doesn't like anyone with a little attitude and will probably immediately get rid of Sammy and Dareus (sp?) to start ... imagine a NFL team without some TUDE?... surely that's not what you have in mind for Buffalo?" Immediately said prospective GM would be ushered to the airport and airmarshalled into his seat for pointing out the inside out stupidity of the ownership group.

so this is the gm telling the coach he had to profess to love that he doesn't love him so much never did and never will and that he better get his sh** together and we gotta have a sacrificial lamb so that we keep our freaking jobs

LOL ... only in Buffalo New York

this sh** is only gonna get better
