Amazing performance in the box by the two inside linebackers and the front four. Unlike versus Pitt, where both safeties were constantly deep in the box and the Hokies were vulnerable outside, in this game the front six was so dominant that five defenders appeared to be ignoring run keys almost immediately on almost very snap. That was the best game I have seen from Edmunds all year. Motuapuaka spied Benkert and disrupting his throwing lanes. Gaines looked like a P5 starter and made some huge plays. Hill created all kinds of problems. And, the 4-8 duo against played very base front snap by my count and was absolutely dominant. Even Belmar accounted for himself well when called upon early.

And while Zaccheaus made a handful of plays, Deon Newsome and Khalil Ladler limited him enough that it took away Benkerts easy throws.

I know folks were frustrated with the offense. But that was a virtuoso performance in terms of preparation and execution by that defensive unit that needs to be lauded for a long time.
