Anybody pretty bummed out APP St. and JMU couldn't quite pull off the upsets against our 2 biggest recruiting thorns (recently at least)

SOOO Bummed. App ST was so close. I hope Penn St. drops in the rankings just because it went to OT.

Pour some Beer on it

App State, yes. JMU, absolutely not. Their fans are already annoying as hell to deal with, we don't need them beating any more ACC teams, NC State will still probably only win 7-8 games this year so hopefully we have a better year and can use that as momentum in recruiting

I agree with this. Need all ACC teams to play well OOC, but would love for NC State to be an Atlantic bottom feeder, however unlikely that it is

I agree for the most part, I do root for ACC teams in OOC games, unless it is someone that we recruit against a lot or Pitt. Essentially, I always root against Pitt, UNC, and now NC St.

You might as well root against Clemson and FSU as well, they have beens sniping top Virginia/outside Virginia targets from us for years are much bigger overall recruiting threats than any of those 3.

I actually bet with a buddy on Appy state to pull it off. Had to shave the beard and buzz my hair because of the loss. It hurts..

Warning- Filter lost.

"Look at this... This is just spectacular.... These people are losing their minds"

I bet it hurts a LOT less now

It does. I still look like I'm 15 again, but I will take it

Yeah? I'd take it too.

Nation's #1 CB for 2021 called us DBU!

From Bluefield, WVa too, close to home

Absolutely was not aware of this. May have to go watch a game or two now.

How amazing would it be if Willie Taggart Jr didn't commit to FSU.

Willie Taggart Jr 247

FSU doesn't make it a habit to recruit low 3*

(But Willie Taggart Sr. will be at another school by then)

hey, he could be a long snapper

Lol how much you want to bet that that Oregon offer isn't committable any more?

Using /s is for cowards.

I'm sure he will commit to whichever team/school his father plans to coach next year.

Im guessing Taggert will be at FSU for at least 3-4 years. He & his wife just pledged $1M to the new FSU $60M stand alone football complex that has a completion date of 2021. The new FSU Complex rendering photos look pretty cool.

Pour some Beer on it

Not on Twitter, anyone know if any of the Croots are tweeting about the game?

VT has picked up two crystal balls for 2019 JUCO DE Kuony Deng. This guy looks like a freak athlete. 6'6", 230 running a 4.6. Can't imagine what Bud would be able to do with this guy. Looks like it's down to the good guys & Texas A&M. He will be in Aggieland this weekend for the showdown vs Clemson but plans to be in Blacksburg before committing. Would love to get him on campus October 6th as we take on the Irish. He plans to commit early next month. Keep your fingers crossed folks!

Looks like he'd be a DE for us.

I'm excited to see him on Last Chance U. The show gives great insight into these players, their backgrounds, their demeanor, work ethic. Hopefully, he's one of the ones balling out.

Assuming he can't grow into a DT, what would we even do with a player like that? Both DE and backer are stacked with future talent, have to imagine we'd rather develop those guys for the next 4 years than pick someone up for 1-2. Unless of course he's just too elite of a talent to pass up.

No way that guy turns into a DT, he has the body of a long athletic DE full-stop. He's also potentially in that too elite to pass up category.

I think he's too talented to pass up. I could honestly see Hill leaving after this year if he consistently plays like he did on Monday night. Depth is never a bad problem to have (i.e. Clemson's d-line). Would love to have this horse in the stable.

Mentioned this in the past (as much as French hates it) but there have been serious talks about moving Zion to DT. I think Bud even mentioned it in a press conference during fall camp. Have to imagine adding Deng to the Garbutt, Proctor, Becton, Adams group would give the staff more flexibility to make the move.

Personally, I think will torpedo his shot at the NFL. I hope I'm wrong.

Foster staid in the first press conference that he wasn't going to do that. Has that changed?

I think that only applied to this year. These guys evaluate their roster every offseason. Position changes are always on the table (see Farley, Caleb)

We keep shoving talent into the program, no matter what.

Go Hokies

Go Falcons

He plans to commit early next month

October 7th would work just fine

You really think the game ends after midnight?

Considering how slow our offense played with a 2 score lead, I fully expect most of our games to end 3 hrs.

For sure! By then it'll be what... 25... 30.... injury time outs a game? And at least 5 of those will be stretchered off the field to return on the next drive. It will add hours to the game.

-Willie Taggart Probably

Didn't realize the #10 ranked 4-Star DT by 247 Tyler Davis is teammates with Norell.

Hmmm, had a VT offer too.

Any recruits coming to the W&M game?

I hope not. They'll be bored to tears.

Ethan West out of Cosby 4* Tight End and Linebacker

...and Norell Pollard is going to be a seriously twitchy DT

If you're like me (God help you), you're probably wondering about the large dot labelled "Chatham, VA" that is feeding several recruits to Alabama (which is the default school). That happens to be the town where Hargrave Military Academy is located.,_Virginia

Edit: The offsetting of the average recruit distance radius is disturbing to me. It really should be centered on the school. I understand why they decided to offset it (rationale at the bottom of the page), but you can see the offset from the locations and sizes of the hometown dots. It's not necessary, and skews the visualization of the average recruit's distance traveled.

Ben Smiley gettin a lot of CBs to UVA, interesting, didn't realize that was even a possibility for him. Maybe other schools don't have him as a take anymore or maybe Bronco selling him hard on getting back at Tech for not offering him. Lol

He already committed to them once, and de-committed 31 minutes later.

He's been like a shadow commit ever since.

Hokies offered him as OL and not DL. So he did have an offer.

This kid is havin a hard time commiting...

His family really doesn't want him to go to uva

he was probably only 799% committed to them

I kind of feel bad for him to be honest. If it's somewhere he really wants to go I don't see why they wouldn't support him. Plus he'll get a really good education

Not sure he really wants to go there.

This kid is havin a hard time commiting...

Understandable. He has other opportunities.

Not sure where he sits with our coaches and his Oline offer from us, but if he is still a take as an olinemen we could give him the old Dejuan Ellis try. Tell him we see him as an olinemen but will give him a fair shot at DT. We could use the depth on either side and if he turns out to be a good DT then it's just a plus.

He's not coming here.

Recruit Prosim

I can't wait for ESPN pre-game story about how VT didn't offer him, didn't say hello to his mom, and kicked his puppy.

Been pretty quiet on the recruiting front lately. Any news out there?

Are we about done with this class, any surprises come nsd?

Just looking at numbers, yes, we're about done. Big '19 fish are Deng and Gary. Maybe the OT committed to OSU. Other than that, pretty sure focus is squarely on keeping everyone on board and getting on 2020 early.

Nester or Jacoby?

Nester, from W.Va

Who are the Big Fish for 2020?

Trying to flip an offensive lineman

Recruit Prosim

Pretty hard since most of them are 300#+. ; 0

...sigh, I just understood this DAYS later.

bravo sir.

Congrats to Jaden!

A major honor and always HUGE to have athletes representing the Hokies from a recruiting standpoint. Also good TV exposure.

From rags to riches, I love these Cinderella stories especially when they benefit the good guys.

Me too. I think this story will have a nice Payoute for the good guys too.

Former TE Darius Redman has a new interview series called "Beneath the Jersey" going on. His first episode was interviewing Trevon Hill but his new episode is with Clellin Ferrell. They go into his recruiting a little bit and what made him choose Clemson over VT.

Probably should be in some other forum, but at the end of this video, you get a tour of Clemson's facilities. All I can say is dang, it almost makes me want to play for them. You can see why they are so appealing before you even factor in the on-field success.

- "And now Miami wants to talk about it..."

Pretty good, he just has to work gettin rid of okay, okay, okay. Looks like he's interviewing his way through big Va recruits.
