Virginia Tech Football Recruiting: Jordan McFadden Commits to the Hokies

Palmetto State product picks the Hokies.

Virginia Tech doubled its beef count this Fourth of July.

Jordan McFadden committed to the Hokies, Tech's second offensive line commitment of the 2018 cycle. The 6'4", 280 pound Dorman HS product joins John Harris, who announced for Tech in mid-June.

McFadden picked Tech over finalists Duke, Michigan State, and Rutgers.

The 247Sports Composite ranks him as 3-star offensive tackle, and he projects to either a guard or tackle for the Hokies.

"He's got the athletic skills to be an edge player," Dorman HS head coach David Gutshall told The Key Play in June. "He really moves his feet well, and I think that's because of his basketball (background). That's what makes him so valuable. For a big body, he can really move his body and pick up guys coming off the edge."

Comments

Oline is always welcome, they are the position that I have worried about the most for the past couple of seasons.

Same.

Just watching 3 minutes of his highlight video, Jordan is in my opinion a natural OL. Plays the position well !!

Another white bronco? The first one didn't go too far.

And that's how eating steak on the Fourth of July became a family tradition.

Also, 3 more until we got 500 Key Club members! Let's do iiiiiiiiit!

Boom! Bring in the beef!! Welcome to the family, Jordan!

What's
Important
Now

So now we are going to legitimately be able to pass and run block?

Shit, I feel like we just beat the game and now cheat codes have been activated

Don't let this comment take away from the fact that Arkansas blew a 24 point 2nd half lead in the Belk Bowl.
Don't let the Belk Bowl take away from the fact that Matt Ryan blew a 25 point 2nd half lead in the Super Bowl.

6'4 280 pounds? Those are some good measureables coming right of high school.

For me, I love this aspect. I remember some of our finest OLs in late 90s were filled with guys who played other sports well, especially wrestling. Understanding leverage is a huge part of the equation, so a kid who moves well has a definite advantage.

Thom Yorke clearly approves.

Cogito ergo sum, I approve

You're the only ones that I can talk to about this, you guys.

You know it!

If you're reading the above post and thinking, "is this guy serious?!?," you can safely assume I'm not.

so other than a few other positions and the top guys, we are running out of space. I'm not sure how to handle that in July!

RIP Bill Paxton...

You're the only ones that I can talk to about this, you guys.

Incidentally, BAGman -

Any color re who/how many is/are planning to sign early?

You're the only ones that I can talk to about this, you guys.

Let's assume this is short for color commentary

Come to Blacksburg and see what the Hokie Pokie is really all about

Ummmmm yes, let's.

Thanks? For clearing that up?

You're the only ones that I can talk to about this, you guys.

I assumed you mean clue and got auto-corrected, but as I reread that I think you may be have been A-OK the way you have it

Come to Blacksburg and see what the Hokie Pokie is really all about

Not sure. I think we will get a better idea when October roles around. All of these guys are gearing up for their senior season

Roger that.

Brought it up bc I'm picturing early verbals wanting to sign early (some of them may do so to secure their spots and/or enroll early), while a lot of the guys who haven't committed yet are higher-tiered prospects who have the luxury of stringing things out and "enjoying the process" (aka "giving fans an ulcer that lasts until the first Wednesday in February").

You're the only ones that I can talk to about this, you guys.

This is looking like Christmas in July! The future looks very bright. It's great to see CJF
and crew snagging quality big men that will fit his offensive scheme.

That was the best way to announce I've ever seen!

We put the K in Kwality

I also just realized he is teammates with 2019 4* WR Jacoby Pinckney who has been "warm" for us on 247. He is rated the number 64 player in the nation for 2019 with a composite score of .9759. I think a #Dorman2VT pipeline could do wonders.

So I don't always watch the embeded videos (usually don't load at work), but that committment announcement was pretty original. Hope he enjoyed himself this Independence Day!

I couldn't read what the other guys he pushed in the pool had on them.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.
