After Virginia Tech's 13-17 loss to Pittsburgh, Hokies' head coach Frank Beamer promised changes. At Virginia Tech's weekly press conference on Monday, Beamer announced nickel Greg Stroman would move to wide receiver for the remainder of the season.
"Yeah, we've taken (Greg) Stroman, he's gonna be a wide receiver full-time. I think he's a great play-maker," Beamer said. "He's our punt returner. He's a good defensive back, there's no question about that. And I told him we'd meet again before spring and decide where he wants to go from there. But right now, I feel like getting some playmakers on the offense is, we need that."
Tech has lacked serviceable wide receiver play beyond starters Isiah Ford and Cam Phillips all season; an issue Beamer Co. has been aware of since before preseason camp.
"How well we develop the wide receiver position will be a big part of our football team," Beamer said at ACC Kickoff.

Through five games, Beamer and his staff have leveraged its tight ends as receiving options to address the hole in the depth chart after Ford and Phillips.
Beamer added he'd like to see true freshman backer Tremaine Edmunds get more burn.
"Tremaine Edmunds, I can tell you, we want him to come along," Beamer said. "He's a talented guy. We'd like to get him more plays in there, like to see him challenge a little more at linebacker. He's just a freshman. It's just so much as a linebacker, everything's going on around you. If we could bring him along a little faster, I think he would be a guy."
Additionally, left tackle Yosuah Nijman is in line for more playing time.
"Nijman, offensive tackle, talking about a 6'7" athletic guy. We can get him in there and play more. Give him an opportunity...He's another one, it's just a learning deal."
