Sounds like another part of this push is to convince people to stop financially supporting the schools in certain states. No idea if that will do much, but I understand the idea. If you can reduce how much people donate to clemson as a way of protesting actions in SC, you can reduce clemson's bag size and therefore lower the quality of their team

Still means a heck of a lot though. Very curious how this shakes out by signing day. Im sure some schools will jump us by then but how many? Ive been pretty adamant that i thought a top 20 class would be impossible for us to ever get. If he could pull it off in 1 year, sheesh

Lots to like about VT's chances in the opener Friday, namely that we've a tougher schedule and should be battle tested. Cal Poly had 10 games against ranked teams - USC, Oregon State, and UC Santa Barbara - and lost all of them. Both teams are relatively the same in terms of the last 20 games played with VT at 14-6 and Cal Poly at 15-5, 4 of which just came in the conference tourney. One area of concern I see is with Cal's closer Bonn who has 15 saves on the year. But, Cal Poly is 6-5 in 1-run games, and Bonn has had a couple bad outings. So... kinda feels like the theme to this one is exactly how the rest of the season has played out. If we avoid the bullpen collapse we should cruise.

I am with many of the comments above...

The NAACP is operating under the assumption that the money follows the players when, in fact, it is the players who follow the money. I am reminded of the 1986 NFL strike (there are differences of course). The Washington Redskins won a Super Bowl at the end of that season with a QB they picked up during the strike (Doug Williams). I supportive of these young men doing whatever they feel like they need to do for themselves, for their futures. and for whatever cause they deem important. But this is going to be a big nothing burger IMO.

Franklin continues storming down the recruiting trail. I might be a minority, but if I could have a starting lineup consisting entirely of 4 Star talent, but no 5 stars, I would take it.

Let's call this exactly what it is - a group advocating for a boycott which is one of the few ways individuals/consumers in a capitalist society try to rein in behavior they don't like from powerful entities.

As such, it's likely to have next to zero effect.

Randy Stoklos was his go to partner. Those two dominated.

EDIT: If it weren't for the likes of these folks, we may have never had the sand volleyball courts on the Prairie and be asked packed as they were when I was living in O'Shag.

I was primarily a setter who had a spinning spike maneuver when faking the set. If I tried that today, most likely end up in traction.

This is freakish!
As a (girls) volleyball dad, I can tell you that playing middle is difficult. You have to have hops, timing, spacial awareness and its crucial to have quick lateral steps to get to the correct spot for blocking.
But most men's players are very tall (6'8"+ at middle), and very lean. To do that north of 300lbs is crazy.

Yeah, there are few enough "premiere" spots that I think you'll still have kids lining up to make "best for me and my family"-decision. You might see some recruits at a different school than they would have been otherwise, but leaving that kind of money on the table to perhaps not go at all or to take a lot less is a big ask.

Part of me thinks the extra defenders are a) cover for Richards if he can't go and b) I look at Arfsten + Scally combined as two halves of a wingback. Arfsten is a defensive liability but can go forward, Scally is a rock defensively on the wing but offers nothing going forward. They're situational wingbacks if you're chasing a goal or defending a lead.

I'd still have dropped Miles for another CDM like Aiden Morris or Tessman (we'll hopefully find out today if his injury was really that bad).
