I don't think it's a bad idea... We don't have the talent at QB to make good decisions. The offensive line can't execute any great blocking schemes. Why not just simplify the game for everyone and make them go fast?
Of course, that could destroy the defense. But they're basically getting destroyed anyway anyways.
I am guessing he requested it. I say this as there are members who IIRC were "suspended" but are still in the board. One example is AXD1985. I want to say he was suspended but his profile is still there and if you want a lesson in what not to do on this board, his negative plaid comments showcases this well.
I just recently joined after having never been a member. My stuff was all visible, my profile/posts and such were all still visible from before the site went members only. It never returned the 404 error for me.
I think in the context of the team and players, it probably feels that way. While I'm sure they aren't happy with the on-the-field results, these are people that spend a majority of their time together and seeing it all come apart is probably traumatic at some level.
I do agree that Pry did bring in some very-much nedeed foundation. He expanded the football personnel, reinstalled relationships with HS coaches and football alumni, and broke away from the Beamer administration (to a degree, and arguably not enough). He quickly embraced NIL and paying players. He has also been the most vocal about VT being a big time football brand.
Where he failed was coaching/coordinator hires, roster building in key spots, gameday preparedness, in-game management, and modernizing the VT schemes (until he hired Siefkas, which solved one issue but was another failure in coordinator hire).

I wouldn't be opposed to that. Not sure if it makes sense financially unless Babcock takes a paycut or cuts are made elsewhere in the non-football side of things.

Maybe. But the largest budget in all of college football wouldn't have made Brent Pry a good HC. He was simply really bad at his job. Period.
- I have Leipold at 2 because I'm not sure he's as good as Sumrall in the recruiting or roster management side and doesn't have any ties to the region. He's 100% ball coach, which might just be exactly what we need.
- I like Newberry over Monken because he's a defensive guy who wouldn't be locked into one offensive system. He only runs the option because it's Navy. (Sure Monken has said he would adapt but he's run it since being a Paul Johnson disciple in 2008.) Newberry also flipped that team around in record time. I mean that team was horrible in their first game with him, in Ireland vs Notre Dame. He somehow got them to 5 wins that season, then last year fielded an actual good team who beat Oklahoma in a bowl. They look even better this year and should challenge for a playoff spot despite having the roster restrictions of a service academy. He's also a bit younger than Monken and just a general tough guy ball coach vibe in general. Monken also just lost to Tarleton State.
- Schumann has learned under Kirby Smart and worked with Dan Lanning in the same position, so there's proof that it's worked before. Georgia's defense is also significantly better than Ohio State's offense and defense is the more difficult unit to be successful with in general. But lastly and most importantly he SA and GA'd for Alabama under Saban, then was Saban's director of football operations for two years in 2014 and 2015 before taking the LB's job under Kirby. He's the perfect mix of CEO and ball coach experience, who also is a great recruiter. A home run hire, if we can afford him and provide the right resources.
- Jason Candle I see as being born on 3rd base in the MAC as Toledo is the program with the most resources who always recruits the best in the MAC. They also haven't been particularly dominant and I don't trust the MAC as a developmental league for players or coaches, I think they play a lower brand of football than the Sun Belt, American and Mountain West

I meant it more that they saw how bad it was with Fuente, but were still not willing to make the necessary changes to the program with his successor, so this coaches job was to really illustrate how bad it can get if we're not committed to playing big boy football

Speaking of dead, the first part of Monty's speech sounded like he was addressing a recent tragedy* (just a few instances of sincere but out of place phrases). Seemed a lot more comfortable during questions.

Did he leave the site or get erased? I'm not interested in canceling my membership, but does your account get erased if you do? To the point that clicking the username in old comments takes you to an error page?

To be fair, in many aspects he has. Won everywhere except on the field though.

Then one day, it only took one poster to say, "DC may be blunt AF, but he has pretty good to great insight and isn't wrong, it's just how he presents it".
I think there were at least a few posters who took this angle
but yeah, DC is polarizing and I think there were a lot of people who didn't want to listen to the truths he was tellin'
Regardless, VT is heading in a new direction now - maybe that will prompt his return? We shall see.
