Is there any logical reason to think things will improve with an internal hire? I'm hoping there is. But hard to see it. Maybe just a fresh start will help. But man, I know I'm reaching.

Well, hope for the best.

It is not in anyway going to be a big time experienced DC hire at this point. It's going to be some "under the radar" guy that Babcock had super secret search for, or its going to simply be a guy that coached with Pry before.

Got to say, I am in the same boat. To wait this long for an internal promotion in S&C - and it's not like S&C has been any good anyway - my ability to have optimism about the DC hire is running on fumes.

The university presidents could stop all this bullshit. They are more powerful than ESPN. For instance, the president of OSU could come out and say, we won't appear on your network and their aint a fucking thing the B1G could do about it. The presidents hold the cards. Maybe in this case they will realize how fucking stupid it is to "share revenue" with an overrated hot shot recruit that leaves after one semester? At a institution of higher learning. I mean you can't dream up something more fucking illogical than this.

It's tied to NIL. That's the basis of the case, that the revenue-sharing rules prevented student-athletes from collecting money related to their NIL. It's being viewed essentially as one in the same, and since it is coming out of the university's operating budget and not athletics, it winds up being a big deal both practically and legally. Internally, everyone is calling this NIL money.

We are small soft and skinny.... and to make up for it we don't know hoe to use timeouts. Skimping on the SC coach is 100% the wrong thing to do. But maybe they aren't interested in the LBs getting run over every game.

After seeing us wait 40 days to announce an internal promotion for our strength coach, my expectations for this hire are about as low as it can get, and I'm still probably going to be disappointed

Maybe we're saving money here to spend on DC? Choosing to be optimistic...

This could also be a great hire. I genuinely don't know.

Same. Very skeptical. I get the feeling we weren't offering enough money to attract any of the marquee names in the S&C world.

Like this guy.

If he was plan A, they would have announced his promotion the day they fired the other guy. No reason on earth not to. But, alas.

Best of luck to Jarrett. I remember Saban saying this was the most important hire when he took over Bama. It feels a little like a plan B hire but let's hope he has a vision to bring life back into the program.

Wait and see on how well this works out and I really hope it does, but I am very skeptical about it. If he was our top choice, not sure it should have taken 1 month and 9 days to announce it.
