Hopefully the Keshawn Davila visit during the UVA game went well. He is the top JUCO CB.

Not strictly portal related but Clemson may be forced to finally test the portal waters as they just lost a 7th commitment in their incoming class. This one a 4 🌟 Safety that flipped to Michigan money.

Their seven lost commits had an average ranking of 92 on 247Sports.

The last time UVa won in Blacksburg, there were only three Star Wars movies.

This is more a loss for TKP than it is for UVA.

Thanks for the memories, Anthony. We're gonna miss you.

The harder than expected schedule was part of it, but not the only factor. We lost multiple games in disappointing and unnecessary fashion - whether due to poor game management (Vandy and Miami) or inability to hold leads (Syracuse). I think it's fair to say that not only were there 2 or 3 games we could have won, but probably should have won.

Also, we were CFP dark horses largely because we returned a really efficient and effective QB (Drones), a stud running back (Tuten), a great kicker (Love) and a dominant defensive lineman (APR), and were deep and talented in other positions like D Line, cornerback and WR. When you return 21 of 22 starters, it's reasonable to hope that even the weaker positions would improve, simply due to having a ton of experience if nothing else.

I do love taking shots at him, but I agree. I am actually interested in how he does at his next stop and think he will be fun to watch.

Anthony Colandrea announced he is entering the portal. Folks like to take shots at him, but I think he has good upside and playing behind a sieve has hurt the perception of him. If he goes to a good G5 team, he will have success.

Most of the Temple grads I know want them to fold the program. They probably prefer Corn getting hired on.

As expected they dropped Miami to 14th in the AP Poll. Alabama up to 11. It's just blatant.

Bama loses to 6-6 Oklahoma by 21, drops six spots in rankings.

Miami loses to now ranked #23 9-3 Syracuse by 4 and get dropped eight spots in rankings.

Good thing no one in Philly cares about Temple football, otherwise Corn wouldn't last a week there...

So with the Portal opening in a week, there is an increasing trickle of players putting their names in.

Top QB prospect, as of this moment is Matthew Sluka, formerly of UNLV, though I would expect Rickie Collins, formerly of LSU or Holden Geriner (Auburn) to move into that spot.

RB is very thin, though we did strike gold with Tuten back in the day. Top is Malachi Hosley, formerly of Penn

WR looks deep, with seemingly all of Mississippi State's WRs in the portal, as well as Texas' Johntay Cook II. Former Hokie Da"Wain Lofton is back in the portal

Louisville's Madden Sanker is likely to be the top OL for the time being.

DL is led by another Alabama DT looking for a new place. Maybe Gilliam can spread a good word or two.

No news on if any of the available LBs are any good

I would love for Tech to make a run at former GA CB Julian Humphrey and Louisville CB Aaron Williams

I know UVA isn't much of a test, but Pop just looked more polished and to be operating the offense faster and more effectively than Drones did at any point this season. With one week to prepare with QB1 reps, he looked pretty convincing to me. I would certainly hope he gets a shot at the starting job next year. I just don't see how we fork out big NIL dollars to retain Drones next year, and he's not going to take a pay cut or stay and have to compete for the job. And I think Pop deserves a shot.

Good hire by Temple IMO. It'll be interesting to see if Keeler keeps Corn on staff.

Edit: McMurphy is reporting Corny will be the interim HC for the bowl. 😬

Yeah depends on if turn over on downs counts I made that comment well before the game though. Glad to get off that list in the better fashion.

Pry realizes what we mean to the program.

This is one reason I want him to succeed.

That's the major issue, though. I seriously doubt there was a single person on this forum who was hoping Pry was going to be a failure so we could get rid of him. The hype train was strong, and we were all aboard in August. We want nothing but all the success. But he, and the guys that he hand picked, are consistently underwhelming, making bush league mistakes, and in general just not showing that they are capable of succeeding on the level that the Hokies fanbase deserves.

Nobody is hoping that he doesn't succeed until it's too late. And unfortunately it's been too late time & time again since basically when TT left the campus, which is why everyone's fuse is so short these days.

Our ACC opponents for next year were a combined 48-48 this year, but only 3 teams had losing records (UVA, Wake, FSU)

Our non-conference schedule went a combined 25-23, with ODU and Wofford being the only teams with losing records (both 5-7)

As shitty as it sounds, while 6-6 may not "look" like an improvement year-after-year, we're doing it against better and better competition, so there has been improvement, just not in the W-L column, which is all that matters.

Though, if we beat all the teams who have losing records AND we beat 3 teams who have winning records, like we did this year, we go 8-4.

Yeah, I think entering the portal was just a temper tantrum for getting benched. If Elliot isn't a complete idiot, he convinces E. coli to come back so he at least had a semi viable option at QB. Unless he's super stoked about a younger QB, I have no idea what UVA's depth chart looks like.
