Fuente is a much better fit for the program than Herman is. And honestly, after Herman, Fuente was THE upcoming coach to have. I'm surprised you were disappointed by it.
Under the old regime, three 3-and-outs to open a game had me reaching for the Pepto. Now, I just assume Fuente and Cornelson haven't found the crease yet.
For years we've seen our defense give up a long scoring drive to open the game, then Foster figures out what the other side is doing, adjusts, and it's on lockdown the rest of the game. Now our offense does that same thing in reverse.
"BEAMERBALL" is simply just a term that came around long ago because Frank did amazing things on special teams. It's us, the fans, that keep that going. If Fuente wants to keep doing what he did this past weekend with special teams then you can call it whatever you want, who cares as long as it happens. But it's not going to die as long as you have a fan base that remembers the term and keeps calling it BEAMERBALL. That's not really up to Fuente or anyone else, so he might as well just embrace it. The only way he won't hear about it is of he doesn't do fun and amaIng things with special teama, and who wants that?
So nice having an offense that can adjust to what the D is trying to taking away. I was getting really nervous with our three straight 3 and outs and our D potentially getting worn out early, but then all of a sudden the score board was lighting up with points like the 4th of July and we head into the half up 38-0 bro!! It was gloroious!
I'm going to be so bored next Saturday with no Hokie football game to watch, but I'm sure I find some games to occupy the time.

So if they're really serious about it, here's what needs to happen. A national review board is set up to review all potential non-called targeting in all games. (Coaches can submit a play they think their player got targeted.) If the review board finds targeting, the guilty player will be suspended for the first half of the next game. In addition, the officiating crew responsible for the non-called will be reprimanded. Enough reprimands will result in discipline or dismissal.
This, of course, will swing the pendulum too far the other way, with anything approximating targeting drawing a flag. But if the NCAA is really serious about eliminating helmet to helmet contact, that's the way to do it.
It is quite obvious that we disagree about much of scientific data regarding global warming and we can re-butt this information forever. I am just not convinced global warming is happening or that it will have the effect that some have proposed . Although we agree to disagree , I greatly respect your and other opinions. At first, I was dissapointed in cjf hire, I was really hoping they would get Tom Herman.
After, seeing into his background, I really think CJF is a genuine and honest guy. HE can be counted on to do right for our program. And he will be critiqued based on what we see on the field.
Beamerball = special teams
Bud Foster = lunch pail defense
FuBall = unpredictable offense scoring tds
Tim Settle = DL wall
And we need all of them to win
Trying too hard the first half. 5 drops, two of those for td's. Loosened up and played ball second half.
I think, like us, Tenn has to be opportunistic (like at Bristol), and stay out of their own way. They have the talent. Look at ECU's total yards and you think this was a close game. Look at TN yards in Bristol (<VT) but it's the score that completes the whole story.
We need to see if Butch can coach a complete game and continue to adapt.

I thought that second touchdown looked odd when I watched it, but I never went back to research. So I guess one blown coverage, one missed tackle.

No judgement. I respect the hate. After 11 years you guys had a lot of angst to get out. I'd imagine if UVA ever managed to get their football program's head out of its own ass enough to ever beat us, they'd pile on as much as they could.
Solid comeback. You guys just need to learn to play with the same intensity from start to finish.
I don't think that second long touchdown was a busted coverage. Terrell came up to make the tackle and just whiffed badly. It looked like he was in between trying to destroy the receiver and just trying to get him down because he closed fast and then slowed up and missed the tackle. Either way, you're absolutely right. We owned them and it was awesome.
We are so much better in all 3 aspects of the game so far this season, especially now that we seem to have our turnover problem under control. Here's to hoping it keeps going forward and we keep kicking ass and taking names!
Took a knee the previous down and then ran the clock as far down as possible. Ran a run play to finish the time off the clock. You tell it how it suits your agenda though

But the converse of what a technically proficient excellent football coach would sound like if he were to do what the poster suggests is absurd. And stupid.
Fuente is not stupid. And neither are we.
We can read between the lines and appreciate all the ways in which this program has been changed in the few short months he has been here. I am shocked personally that we have this amount of talent in the program. I am guessing the players are shocked as well.
Love me some Frank Beamer and Beamerball. But Fuente, Foster (and yes) Whit is saving his legacy in so many ways. Godspeed to them all. It doesn't need to be said. We can marvel at the past and the future of Hokie football now.
