At least El Paso had this?

or Annapolis
We lost to an ECU team who fired their coach.
And it was the second time in a row we lost to them.
I think it's more of a "pissed to not be near here" mentality, more than anything. I'm glad the team made a bowl. I'm sad that it's not one I'll be attending.
Game is in East Jesus Nowhere the day after Christmas against Tulsa. I'm setting the over/under for attendance at approximately 12.
I think VT fans can complain all they want about the selection, sure we are a mediocre team but lets be honest LA vs NC is a far distance. I and a lot of other fans were ready to drive 3 - 5 hours to the game not 14 hours. Well another bowl game to watch on TV.
There should not be much surprise in HokieNation over this one. It took a late rally against a terrible UVA team to become bowl eligable. This is where the streak started, I am sure that story line was evident to the bowls. The only thing I thought would bump us up would be the amount of the fanbase that would travel for this game could entice a higher bowl to take a chance on this team.
On the bright side, Fuente put 66 points on them this year so should definitely be able to help with the scouting report (If he is allowed to do that)
We lost to a not good ECU team. Win that game and we have a Belk invite
Hmmmm Christmas in Shreveport or with family?
Our chances are better now for a 1000 yard rusher and 1000 yard receiver!
I was so excited to take my family to Charlotte as a little reward for their patience as I worked on content for this site this year. Yeah.
Called it a month ago!!! Gets ready for some 12:00 middle of nowhere football
El Paso?
I just hope the team doesn't lay an egg.
A bad matchup sucks. Losing a bad matchup would suck more.
That's for sure.
The only reason I'm upset is because I can't afford a trip to Louisiana and could have easily made a day trip to Charlotte... But, if you play bad you don't get a good bowl. Maybe 2 or 3 years from now we can have a pizza party in Lane like Clemson had today.
And JC....

Well there goes the father-son, post-Christmas bowl trip I was hoping for.
Well I can't say we earned a better bowl, but this is still a bit of a

Oh well.lets take whatever we're given and dominate it. I feel sorry for Tulsa...
This is all purely reactionary and that is what everyone needs to understand. Emotions and reactions will be different come game time. But right now? Yeah, this is a disappointing result when we had higher aspirations. That is just human nature.
They're probably unavailable because they'll need to tarp off half the stands to make it look like there's a decent crowd.
There were replies earlier in the other thread that suggested VT would have a choice between Military and Independence, but it looks like this tweet from Thomas Guerry debunks that.

We're lucky to be going to a bowl at all, and I'm happy for that because it kept some streaks alive, and gave Beamer the chance of going out after a winning season. When you go 6-6, you don't really have the right to complain about your bowl game. Winning cures the "bowl selection blues".
Would I have traded the home-and-home games against anOSU to get into the Belk Bowl? No. I'd rather have a tougher OOC schedule than have a slightly better selection from the group of bowls that take 6 or 7-win teams.

That was probably the nail in the coffin for us. Just like our willingness to watch any VT football game on any time slot handcuffs us to more noon games. Sucks that such an amazing fan base and a not-so-well performing team has been keeping us stuck in a muck of mediocrity.
That being said, still taking the opportunity to see Frank's last bowl game as well as hit up some friends in New Orleans!! Christmas in Louisiana!!! Everyone's dream, right?
