TBH, I think that the recruiting done at Michigan under RR had a whole lot more to do with Michigan than it did with RR

But seriously though. Great article, and it really is a great tribute of what Frank created in Blacksburg. When people say we're a football school, this is why, in that the entire economy of the region essentially ties into the program on an annual basis.
I'll be there as usual. Actually made every home game this year, which isn't always a guarantee with kids!

He squandered his recruiting classes at Michigan, that's the biggest knock on him.
Rankings per 24/7:
2008 rank: 11, record: 3-9
2009 rank: 10, record: 5-7
2010 rank: 17, record: 7-6
2011 rank: 26, record: 11-2 (Hoke)
So Michigan (one of the most storied and winningest programs in FBS history) recruiting went steadily down, even with 10th and 11th ranked classes he won no more than 7 games, and then Hoke walks in and takes them to the Sugar Bowl. RichRod got good players. He did nothing with them at one of the most successful football schools in existence.

All that burnt orange doesn't mean the other Texas programs don't have any support at all in those areas, just that there's more Longhorns fans than there are fans of other programs. A county that was 51% Longhorns fans and 49% aTm fans would be shaded burnt orange on the map.

Yes but as we've seen - we've struggled at Mike and at our DB positions this year.
I've argued for RIchRod in the past not because I felt he was a great candidate, but because I think the majority of people were letting their hate for a rival overwhelm the stuff that actually matters while making unfair character attacks. II(also)RC, the other major proponent of that idea was the ACC, meaning we might be in store for a shakeup of how the teams who play each other in Charlotte are decided.

Stopping a good triple option attack isn't easy
Well yes, but my point is that Houston may be a large market, but they don't even have any weight in their own city compared to the other Texas programs. I'd argue that ~40% of Texas are Longhorns, ~20% A&M, ~15% TT, ~10% Baylor, ~5% TCU and ~10% other schools. The first map at least gives an idea of how heavily each team dominates a certain area. So in the case of your 51-49 UT to aTm, you'd see a very light shade of burnt orange.
