Painter and Via Out for the Rest of Spring

This news comes to us via The Frankinator's minions on the Beamer Blog.

Michael Via - scheduled for ACL surgery on Thursday. Should recover in time for August practices.

Vinston Painter - suffered a dislocated knee cap in Saturday’s scrimmage. Will be held out of the remainder of the spring practices. The medical staff anticipates no further damage, however, when the swelling subsides, Painter will undergo further evaluation

This is a bit of a downer. Neither Via or Painter will start on the offensive line in '10, but they will play an important role spelling the starters and filling the gaps if injuries happen. Reps this spring were important to prepare them for their versatile backup roles in the fall, as well developing them for '11. At least it wasn't anything too serious and both guys should be back on the field this summer.
