His defensive film reminds me of Chamarri Connor. He is very strong. When he grabs a ball carrier, they aren't going anywhere and usually getting thrown down. Keep bringing in the NoVA guys!

His Hudl film shows him at Defensive End and Wide Receiver. Any idea which side of the ball or what role he will play with the team. From the film he looks like he might be best bulking up and playing Defensive Line. OR maybe they see him as more of a Tremaine Edmunds lengthy linebacker?

Rivals has (had? swear I saw that at one point) him listed as a linebacker, so anywhere could be a good fit for him honestly. Love that versatility + Hilgartification could mean a lot of things.

Always love a Virginia commit.

I'd also like to point out that his Twitter says he's 6'6" even though his 247 says 6'4", so we're looking at a potential Bucky situation.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Did you know Bucky was 6'7"?

I thought he was 6'13".

James Brown was taller than 6'

Your off by 9 inches buddy.

We're friends now. Don't over sauce your wings when I come over though

thats what she said....*sob*

Swag.

Really happy with this commitment. In-state and looks to have a lot of potential.

Multiple 6'4 commits this week, we a roundball school again?

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Nah, the roundball recruits are over 6'7".

Well, NOW they are.

Damn that joke flew right over your head

How many scholarship spots do we have left open to take this cycle?

Based on "full class" 14-18 more I guess.

Don't forget that we have to save a spot for Drew Harris.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Taking Bullock means Dwayne Lawson will transfer, so that open up the scholly for Drew

am i doing this right?

Do you know our ranking when ordered by average recruiting score? Is there a way to sort by average recruit rating on rivals/247? haven't been able to find that.

Twitter me

Like him as a modern OLB/safety hybrid to contain the edge and cover when needed. If we can find a role like that for him this could be a solid find.

A tall long versatile athlete. Love the potential here and will be a great player at Tech!

What's his position? Anyone know?

Looks like a solid guy.

I like when I come here and there's good recruiting news!

defense...LB or DE...they expect him to get much bigger

Tight end.

Ayeeeee LET'S GO 😃

I've got this feeling
The tide is turning now baby
Funny feeling everything's gonna be alright now

HOKIES !

Interesting prospect...build and play-style kind of reminds me of Snowden from UVA.

Eager to see what his exact measurables are...if the 4.5 40-yd that is claimed on Twitter is accurate, he could line up in any number of positions. If he has some time to develop, a big, rangy strong safety would be a nice fit.

At 6'4" and growing, I can't see him at safety. LB of DOOM maybe.

High ceiling, low floor kind of guy. Concern that he might be a bit of a tweener, a la Dean Ferguson.

But if we're going to take a project, I'd prefer it to be of long, athletic, rangy variety. Just beginning to get worried that we're relying too much on these project types.

Regardless, don't want to take away from the kid. Welcome Keli!

Hope he becomes the next Tremaine Edmunds, I think once he is in the system he will have similar measurables

I don't know this young man, although I am pretty sure he was in one of my classes when I substituted at his high school (Sherando). I hope he does "become the next Tremaine Edwards" but that is putting a lot on a young guy. Tremaine had a lot of advantages with his father's background of success in football and three talented brothers to push him.

Someone has said something along the lines of "hard work and average talent can beat exceptional talent that doesn't work hard." Maybe the young mister Lawson has talent (I am not skilled to evaluate that); the staff feel that he does. Now is the time for him to demonstrate the "blood, sweat, and tears" to prove them right.

Wiltfong is reliable. His crystal balls carry a lot of weight, IMO. This staff isn't hitting it out of the park as far as ratings go, but they are going after guys that I feel are technically sound and have a huge upside.

That's some pretty high praise for Lawson, coming from a guy who lives and breathes this stuff.

I like his Beamer Ball Accolades, seems like he can contribute in all aspects of special teams.

Welcome to Blacksburg...we can do a lot with this young man.

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Last name Lawson... check
Height discrepancy between twitter and 247... check

We may have hit the meme jackpot here. What size gloves does he wear?

Lawson has to change his XXXL gloves at halftime because his fingers burst the seams.

Similar size to Simmons from clemson definitely raw prospect but man has some upside.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Looks like he will need to add 40-50lbs and play DE (maybe Backer), and he plays heavy with a slight frame so DE may not be a bad decision.. Will be a multi year project or special teamer because he doesn't seem to have the speed or explosion on film to play Backer, Whip, or S.

"Dick to Hyman? DICK TO HYMAN!" - Guy in Lane Stadium crowd when Richard Johnson hit Josh Hyman on reverse pass in 2004.

My first thought is how physically similar he is to Barno. If the rumors are true of Barno playing a role similar to Snowden at UVA, wouldn't surprise me to see Lawson slotted there as well.
