Women's BB vs George Washington Dec 1

The Lady Hokies play George Washington, Tuesday at 5PM at Cassell. The game will be on ACCNx. GW is 2-0, beating Lincoln 53-38 and Old Dominion 55-37. They are obviously comfortable at a slower pace than VT likes to play. GW is only shooting 34.4% overall and 14.7% from 3 in their 2 games this year; so I may be wrong about the pace. They may just not be good on offense; and have played 2 teams that are worse. Tech will have a significant advantage inside with Kitley, Jones and Obouh Fegue. And VT is a much better team from beyond the arc. I don't see GW being able to slow the Ladies down much. Should be a game for Coach Brooks to get some playing time for everyone on the roster.

GW Roster:

Jasmine Whitney, No. 0, Guard 5'9" Grad Transfer from Pitt. Played in 91 games, starting 75 at Pitt. Led Pitt in assists for 3 years, recording 100+ assists each season; led the Panthers in steals her last two years. Averaged 9.6 ppg in 2018-2019 season.

Maddie Loder, No 22, Guard, 5'11", Junior. Played 23 games, starting 5 shooting 38.6% overall and 25% from 3.

Faith Blethen, No. 23, Forward, 6'1", Sophomore. Played 30 games, starting 26 last year. Averaged 5.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.6 apg, and 1.1 spg. Shot 37% and 34.3% from 3.

Neila Luma, No. 30, Forward, 6'0", Redshirt Junior. Played and started 5 games before a season ending injury on Nov 20. Played in all 30 games in 2018-19, starting 28. Led the team in scoring 10.4 ppg and rebounding 6.1 rbg. Shot 39%

Essence Brown, No. 32, Guard, 5'11", Sophomore. Appeared in 26 games, starting the final 6.

Ali Bingham, No. 1, Center, 6'4", Freshman. Averaging about 20 minutes per game so far, averaging 10 ppg on 50% shooting. Not a threat from 3. Also contributed 5.5 rpb.

Stats for the first 2 games:

Interesting stat : 19 of their 54 ppg have come at the line; that's 35% of their scoring. And they have only missed 1 FT so far this year. Last year VT scored 16% of their points on FT's; and our opponents scored 20% of their points from the line.
