Coming off their series win against Duke, the Hokies defeated Longwood 2-0 to open up a one day doubleheader today. Junior Ace Keely Rochard notched her NCAA leading 19th victory of the season, striking out 10 in a two hit performance, but only faced 22 batters, as the first baserunner was picked off on a strikeout-swinging attempted steal.
Solo blasts from 1B Jayme Bailey and C Alexa Milius accounted for the scoring, but the Hokies were held to just 3 other baserunners during the game.
Game 2 just ended and the bats were alive. The Hokies started with Fr Pitcher Mackenzie Osborne, going for her third consecutive win. After a scoreless first inning, the Hokies exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the inning. Osborne gave up 4 runs (2 earned) over 3 innings, but in the end, it didn't matter. Ivy Rosenberry came on for 3 innings of relief, allowing 2 runs (both earned), before Molly Jacobsen came on for her first appearance of the season, with a quick 1-2-3 7th inning.
