Early Signing Day Reflection

Wanted to start a thread to discuss the first early signing period. Curious about everyone's opinions on the early signing period in general - good? bad? great? terrible?

Overall, I think it's great for a top tier 2 program like us, or Michigan State, or Oregon, etc. I'm really curious to see if the numbers back this up, and if the top ten recruiting classes are closer to the average than have been in past years. Will be interested to see if this inspires more on field parity in the future.

My one complaint - I think it should be moved earlier in December. Maybe right after the Conference Championship games wrap up, that way it doesn't interfere as much much with bowl prep.

I think it worked out just fine for VT. I see it as an advantage that VT can lock up our committed recruits before the top 5 teams pick off each other's recruits, and then rebalance and find an extra slot to fill, and start looking at ours.

I could be wrong but I think the date was picked to not interfere with high school playoffs.

I think it worked extremely well for us, and will continue to work well. We have a staff that seems to identify the players they want regardless of star power, if we catch a diamond we have the opportunity to get them signed before that last round of All Star games their senior year.
