"Team first guy" Doug Nester Signs with the Hokies and Eyes Making an Early Impact

Both the blue-chip offensive lineman and his high school coach discuss Nester's recruitment and what he brings to the table at Virginia Tech.

Reese Donahue, let's start there. The Milton, WV native has started 25 games for West Virginia. Prior to plugging gaps for the Mountaineers, the defensive lineman strapped it up for Cabell Midland HS. Spring Valley head coach Brad Dingess remembers him well. You won't find blue-chip offensive lineman Doug Nester's name anywhere in the boxscore, but a game between the two aforementioned high schools way back in August 2015 is when Dingess knew Nester was destined to play big time college football.

"His first high school football game he had to block Reese Donahue," said Dingess. "And he held his own, and Doug's 14 years old. He's already at that time about 6-3, 255, 260, we felt like that kid could be special."
