Lady Hokie Hoops: Clara Silva Commits to Hokies

Silva averaged 18.1 ppg, 11.6 rpg and 1.8 apg playing for Unicajia Baloncesta in Spain this last season. She is a 6 foot 6 inch Center and is the third recruit for the Hokies in the 24 class.

This was from Theballout.com after her recent play for Portugal in the U18 FIBA tournament.

Silva is a towering 6-foot-6 post player with finesse reminiscent of a young 18-year-old Hakeem Olajuwon when he arrived at the University of Houston. Her recent performance in July left spectators and critics alike in awe. As the tournament's leading scorer after the Group Phase, Silva's ranking as number one in the efficiency chart and second in rebounds speaks volumes about her remarkable abilities.

Silva's impressive average of 22.0 points and 11.0 boards per game has been instrumental in propelling Portugal to the top spot in their group. With an additional average of 2 blocked shots per outing, Silva has proven herself to be a formidable defensive anchor.

WBB going for dynasty mode? This is an impressive pick-up considering the competition. I sure hope the ladies break the NCAA team championship curse for us soon.

VTCC '86 Delta Co., Peru Hokie, Former Naval Aviator, Former FBISA, Forever married to my VT87 girl. Go VT!

She was heavily pursued by all the heavy hitters, her class and the one after hers is apparently more thin than normal on centers, so we beat out UConn, Louisville, Tennessee etc. pairing her with an experience Strack at center could be insane

I'm sure that like me everyone is surprised to see her compared to "a young 18-year-old Hakeem Olajuwon."

I mean, everyone knows that at 18 years old Olajuwon went by "Akeem." Jeez.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

I only wish she could have a year overlap with Kitley. This girl is going to be a bigtime player. Huge, no pun intended, pickup for Coach Brooks! Reloading not rebuilding!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Wow, Just Wow. Huge recruit to land for Brooks in more than one way!

That's awesome.

I enjoyed the Final Four run last year.
