Men's BBall: ACC Tourney Championship Game moved to Saturday Night

For the last 32 years, the ACC Championship game has been one of the last games before the tournament selection begins, but that will change next year as the ACC voted to move the tourney championship to Saturday night now. The move is aimed at getting better viewership as the ratings on Sunday for the last few years had been lagging.

Most of the coaches seem in favor of the decision. It doesnt matter much to me and if it improves the viewership of the entire tournament by having both Semifinals Friday night, I am good with it. Hopefully Friday and Saturday will matter for Tech hoops here in the near future.

Good.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

The 'good ole days' of 'Sail with the Pilot' ACC tournaments have been gone for years now. They didn't end when VT, Miami, & BC joined, either. The ACC tournament changed most drastically and irrevocably when the Les Robinson Invitational was initiated. The Thursday 'play-in' games killed the old colonial atmosphere of the ACC tournament. Now, having it on a Tues/Sat schedule is fine. Actually, having a Saturday evening championship game makes so much sense it seems odd it didn't happen previously. The result seldom changed much in terms of NCAA selections, or even seeding, anyway. The ACC tournament is no different than other conference tournaments these days. They are all just precursors to the NCAA tourney. Saturday night in NYC after the championship game(when that happens)? Now, THAT is more appealing than the game itself!
