According to JC Shurburtt of 247 Brent Benedict will be out for the whole 2014 season and possibly more. He experienced clotting in both his heart and lungs and is to be believed to currently be in the hospital in Greenville, SC. His brother passed in 2008 of an enlarged heart while preparing for the NFL Draft. I can't imagine the pain his family must be going through right now. Prayers go out to Brent and his family, Hokie Nation is here for you.

Oh wow. Terrible news. Hope everything turns out ok for Brent
Wow, that's scary news. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Stay strong, Benedict family.
I have a family friend who lost both their sons at 21 years old to the same thing. It's tough, hopefully he recovers and lives a full life.
Prayers to him and his family. Here's to a healthy recovery
Don't have much to add other than VT's head athletic trainer said Benedict was dealing with a DVT, a blood clot in his leg, that developed after spring ball. VT's seeking more info on the situation.
