It was announced Tuesday that next season the Hokies will play in the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, FL. The opponents in this tournament will be Illinois, Iowa State, and University of Alabama-Birmingham. If we end up with games against UAB, we would likely end up facing former Hokie Robert Brown, who transferred to UAB after James Johnson first season.
Its good to see that Buzz is already starting to improve our Out of Conference strength of schedule.

Hopefully we will make it NotSoNiceville for everyone else

I'll see myself out
The schedule for this season was devised almost entirely by Jim Weaver & James Johnson, and was made as weak as possible to inflate Johnson's record, to the advantage of both him & Weaver. Whit & Buzz understand how to properly schedule, and we'll see more realistic schedules in the future because of that. This will be a nice Thanksgiving time tournament. I expect we'll see more high profile holiday tournaments in the coming 2-3 years, until we reach a level of comfort for both Whit & Buzz.
I wish the UAB game was here as it would be nice to see Robert Brown again. He did community service for us and was a pretty nice kid. Also, Rob Ehsan who originally recruited RB and Jeff Wulbrun are still assistant coaches there as well.
