Glad we had a chance. Love the players' effort. However, get rid of CornFu now.
Total housecleaning needed after this. Can't even get 3 yards.
Unfortunately it's not the type of loss that generates a housecleaning from those in charge. They see a close game that was hard fought.... We see how the O blew what should've been a easy win...
Love that the players never gave up. Love these kids.
Fu gotta go.
Why won't BB keep it this season? I'm baffled
The one time when BB3 roll out would probably work he doesn't do it.
This absolute fucking nincompoop ran the exact same play on 3rd and 4th and goal.
WVU TRIED TO GIVE US THE GAME AND BRAD CORNELSON WAS TOO FUCKING INEPT TO TAKE IT
Small victory, we outscored them in the second half (very small)
We didn't deserve to win that anyway
Just fire him. The play calling was so laughably bad. Love the fight in the players after sleep walking in the first half
Oh well, the offense put the game on the defense's shoulders at the end of the game at least 50 times over the last 20 years. It'd be nice for the offense to do it. Completely unsurprised that they failed. Only one that immediately comes to mind is the Tyrod Nebraska win in Lane.
Logan Thomas up the middle against Miami 2011..
Lack of any red zone plans. Three trips, 0 points. Two field goals would have done it for overtime.
Bad play calling costs us all
Somebody tell me again that the defense is equally bad as the offense
Four possessions blown with no points.
fire Corn that is all, although BB3 should've been keeping nearly every read option
"On an 80-yard field, we would have won that game by two touchdowns today."
- CornFu
Cornelson is literally retarded. Fire him right now
I'm ready to contribute my meager funds for Fuente buyout.
Fire them all
I can't stand rollouts to one side of the field especially when you have a mobile qb. You basically get the defense and extra defender with the sideline and you only have to worry about one side of the field .
Exactly! And its infinitely easier for the defense to stop a QB scramble if all three levels of the defense can roll with the QB one way.
Leave CornFU in Morgantown and MAKE THE MOVE. #FIREFUENTE&BABCOCK!
Perhaps the most heartbreaking loss in over two decades
It's up there but I was definitely more heartbroken after Boise and Michigan
Those are definitely contenders! Figures we would have a Coale 2.0 in this one
The Danny Coale at halftime changed the whole game. Missing the kick was the kiss of death on top. 7 or 3 change the whole outcome there. WouldaCoulda
Three trips inside the 5 and no points against a defense that is not very good. Wow! Can't spell conservative without a C, O, R, and an N. My goodness.
Love that the kids played hard and never quit, but WVU completely controlled the line of scrimmage for most of that game. The opposite of the UNC game.
This is a mediocre team. Thankfully we play in a mediocre conference.
A mediocre team that can't beat other mediocre teams because our Offensive Coaching is total garbage.
We should be thankful we have mediocre coaches that can recruit mediocre players that are coached up to a mediocre level so that our Win/Loss ratio is mediocre and that our bowl games will be mediocre enough to decide we have a mediocre interest and not play.
#MakeTheMove
The fact that we had chance in spite of Cornelson speaks a lot to the players
Cornelson is like an automatic +10 to the Opponent.
It's amazing we ever win a game.
I wonder how many of these read options are not actually reads . Just making sure BB hands it off and not run .
Purposely not scoring and running it straight into their teeth on 1st and 2nd down is about the dumbest shit I've seen from a P5 team in this position. Don't let Corn on the bus
We played our way back into this game. We were coached out of it.
If Fu's players make bonehead plays/decisions they are benched...he and his coaches get excuses and extensions. Hold yourself and your staff to the same standards. This is my biggest complaint about him, and why I do not believe he will be a successful P5 coach.
Coach needs to come out and put this loss on the coaches . After that slow start boys busted their asses off .
Some good things:
I can have a beer, brandy or bourbon next game.
The team did not quit like they would have 2 or 3 years ago. Still gives me hope that the season can be successful.
Fuente loses the Black Diamond. With the streaks all over (winning records, UVa, bowl, Black Diamond, what else am I missing) if the team does not pull out a good season and Fu is finally gone, the new coach can start from scratch and tear things down to rebuild if they feel that is the best way to do it.
Have some wonderful smelling Calcutta beef curry on the stove simmering as I was able to slip away at 24-7 to start cooking.
The bad:
We lost to WVa.
Corn is still going to be running the offense in spite of our red zone performance.
I got caught up in the game at the end and forgot about the kielbasa on the grill, 1/3 of which is now burnt.
He is missing a no NCAA violation streak? The one thing that could get him fired for cause!
Plz im begging Whit get rid of these idiots that are running Va Tech football
Glad I stopped watching at half. If we had a chance, I knew the ineptitude of Corn/Fu would f it up and I would be even more pissed.
While we are all fuming at Corny, lets share a little with the FG kicker. If he makes a easy FG we would have been at least in OT...
Uh, we lost by 6. If he makes a FG, he would then have had to have made another FG.
I think the logic is that if we made the earlier FG, we'd kick another FG late instead of going for it on 4th
Which we could have done three other times during the game
You really didn't get my logic? The entire way we handle the last drive changes if WVU knows we don't need a TD....
After re-reading, I now get it. Frankly, I still don't blame the kicker at all. This loss is all on the coaches.
Well if we kick every time instead of running easy to defend 4th down plays then we win by a score
Ask shibest(one of our highest paid assistants)
it's time. let's see what Lechtenberg can do
In real time, I was critical of the WVU coach for not calling a TO after the 1st down run. In retrospect, I think that bated us into two runs into the heart of their defensive front and to where they didn't have to worry about the pass. That's probably a good decision. But, we could have made them pay for that.
Offensive guru 🙄
Offensive poopoo
The end of this game was the most ludicrous crap I've ever seen.
Especially having to watch it two plays in a row.
ESPN says we won TOP "44:47 34:05."
That has to be some type of new record for a 60-minute game. (Looking for little victories.)
"This loss was entirely on the coaches."
-Captain Obvious
At what point do you change offensive coordinators? I feel like other teams change them with ease and we keep ours forever.
I'm up for change at OC before I am at burning it down and starting all over again.
I seriously thought we would bait them into another run up the middle with BB3 keeping around the side on 3d down.
Yea after 1st and 2nd down I was expecting this too. Would've given BB the opportunity to make a play. The called rollout meant we took his mobility out of it since the whole D was following him. Seemed really dumb. Then we called it again...
"F" '*d "U" 'p and Cornhole - a perfect fit for impotent offensive coaching. So pathetic to snatch defeat from the jaws of improbable victory
Fire Fuente and his nincompoop coaches now and cancel the fucking season.
Stiney, Lefty, and Corny. Talk about a history of sorry ass OCs.
I watched a good part of the AU / PSU game. They know to tackle block and run plays. Just saying'.
At half time, WVA is leading #4 Oklahoma, 10-7.
I know we should have won the game, but maybe WVA is not as bad as we thought.
