Hokies a favorite for 4-star offensive tackle

Dorian Johnson, he was committed to PSU...

Johnson is a four-star recruit and the 23rd-best offensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2013, according to Rivals.com.

With his recruiting reopened, he said Pitt and Ohio State are again finalists, as well as Virginia Tech.

“I’m probably going to reach out to those schools tomorrow,” Johnson said. “I know they’re in the middle of camps, so I don’t really want to bother them.

“I’m going to look into Virginia Tech a little bit more, maybe arrange a visit. In September I can start my official visits.”

Cornell was his recruiter, if we get him on campus, we'll have a chance.

What does our 2-deep look like at Tackle next year??

LT Schuman
LT Conte?
LT Acree?

RT Gibson?
RT Goins?
RT Taracshke?

Gibson is at RG

2013 is shaping up to have Shuman and Goins as the starting tackles and Acree, Conte and Taracshke backing them up. I don't think we should expect Acree to contribute until his r-Senior year, so the r-Fr will probably be 2nd string.

Shuman is coming along nicely while Goins is still figuring things out.

With Farris and Arkema available to back up Wang, Miller & Benedict; Gibson to OT is a viable option if Goins isn't ready.

Gibson

If he's not starting, maybe he's that swing man like Via? I remember it being a two part move, Gibson inside to guard, Painter outside to tackle. I can't find it in writing, but my memory is telling me he didn't wow at tackle.
