Pitt.

Pitt.

*That's the post. French will have the film review by Monday morning and my guess is it won't be sunshine and lollipops. Remember, we can still win the ACC. -- THIS MESSAGE BROUGHT TO YOU BY BEAMER CO.

What happened

to the rush defense we had against Georgia Tech? We lost on both offense and defense today. Special Teams, we may have won by a slim margin...

at least the special teams have improved. . . . sigh

GT = cut blocking. You may not think so, but GT is a finesse offense.

Pitt= what the Hokies should be doing, with Trey Edmuds at tailback. Block every body down, kick out the end. Or, zone right, cut back when the backside DE or OLB overpursue.

I think you are going to hate me on Monday. There are some guys who we think of being in leadership roles who are getting buzzsawed.

Pitt offense

French Pitts offense is power run correct? Doesnt that usually give Bud Fosters defenses a lot of trouble...Just thinking back to the Stanford Orange bowl game. As for the offense I dont know what their problem was today. I didnt watch and could only listen to the game from the beginning of the 2nd half.

Now I'm in panic mode over our offense. The defense gave up a some big plays, yes, but they also gave the offense tremendous opportunities once again.

Red Zone Offense

Does anyone know where we could buy some because we seem to be all out?

Forget Redzone.

How about the whole offense?

In Tyrod we trust.

what didn't we stick with Scales? He seemed to have a hot hand.

Time to Temper Expectations

My Quick thoughts/observations on the game:
-Logan's mechanics have gotten bad this year, he's regressing, and I thought he would have that sophomore --> jr leap like Tyrod. Not sure that happens this year. O'Cainspring need to focus on the mechanics, simplify the offense, and drop the shit (Pistol hasn't been effective yet)

-VT has no running backs. None of the current RBs run with determination, hit the holes quick, and keep their feet moving upon contact. (I think that's a coaching issue) Maybe Edmunds would be better.

-If Wang is out for long, Via needs to move to left guard, because Arkema was terrible. (Sidenote: Don't do a qb sneak to the gaurd side that just got injured!!)

-Defense didn't come out ready today. The D-line struggled early and Bonner and Exum got beat too often.

-The Defense also doesn't have enough playmakers. Gayle and KFuller can't do it all themselves. The coaches need to find a way to get RVD and Corey Marshall in the game more.

-RVD made two huge hits on special teams. He's a beast

-Last thing, if you take away a 95 yd punt return and 85 yd pass, VT scored 3 pts. That makes Pitt's D sound like Alabama.

Give up 537 yards, turn the ball over 4 times, and only rush for 59 yards.

That's a paddlin.

To say the least, the offense has been disappointing so far this season. They play well in hurry-up situations, but the coaches rarely have them pick up the pace. The players don't look comforatable and can't execute, the concepts seem foreign to the offensive staff. We haven't been able to sustain long scoring drives, and that's a problem. I've advocated for pushing the ball down the field more, and we did that against Pitt on a bunch of first downs, none of them hit, and we were unable to play behind the sticks. Second-and-tens have been a killer for us this season. I thought red shirting Trey Edmunds was the right move, and now I don't think so.

The defense got man handled up front. We knew going into the season that the secondary would be young, the LBs were dealing with injuries, and those guys would have to make plays, and get after the quarterback. Saturday we saw what happened when they don't. It's not all on them though, 7 other guys consistently had Pitt hats across their body.

That was a true team loss. Can Beamer Co. get it turned around in time for the ACC run?

Beat Alabama.
