UVA-Oregon agree to home and home series starting next year.

Mike London Says:

I support Logan Thomas and make no apologies for it.

What a terrible idea

Their home schedule now includes BYU, Oregon, VMI, Ball State, Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. They think that having 8 home games is somehow a blessing. I think it's more likely that they get routinely stomped by most of those teams and the fans lose even more interest in their football program. I say they're lucky to get out of their home schedule with a 2-6 record.

Road schedule is Maryland, Miami, UNC and Pittsburgh. Probably no better than 1-3 there.

I see what's going on here: When they suck and London gets fired, he's going to blame the schedule.

I see straight through his trickery.

I think I read that they backed out of the PSU game in Happy Valley because they didn't want that road game. Insane. Every team should play 6 home, 6 away. Unless the home team wants a neutral site (like Cincy this year).

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Slightly disagree...

The larger programs like to play 2 games against obviously inferior opponents, and both should be at home. Tech shouldn't be playing @Bowling Green or @Marshall or @JMU, etc. Hence, that gives us 7 home games. I'm still trying to figure out why we're playing ECU almost annually, alternating home and away...

Random other fact along these lines, in 2016 we are scheduled to play 8 home games. The schedule just lines up that way.

I thought I read that PSU backed out on UVa.

After I read up, it was a mutual agreement. Check out Teel's article.

Does Oregon have to pay to play UVA like all FBS schools pay FCS schools?

love it.

Oh Jesus...

What's the over/under on Oregon dropping 70 points on some hoo ass?

The only TKPer to not like Bourbon

I'd attend

Just to witness that ass whoopin'

I actually think I may go. I mean, how often does Oregon come to the east coast? Tickets are obviously going to be cheap. When GF_Warthog went to UVA I could make the drive in 65 minutes.

On the other hand

At least they have a chance to win some big games. Besides Bama, we have such a weak schedule next year. Not playing Clemson or FSU really hurts us for contending next year IMO

"I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them. So I'm going with God. I'm going with Virginia Tech." -Lee Corso

Thanks to

All this conference realignment bullshit. Pick up Pitt and drop FSU? ..what a crock.

Apparently, UVA replaces Nevada

on Oregon's schedule. I'm pretty sure that's a downgrade. Though, I guess now they can say they're playing 11 BCS conference teams...

Not to state the obvious here but

Oregon's gonna tear em apart.

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

Don't forget

Oregon just lost their HC to the NFL. They may struggle a little next year readjusting.

#Let's Go - Hokies

Chip Kelly was also the play caller, so things may change a lot in Eugene. They should still trounce the zimas.

Another Prediction:

Oregon will have more fans at this game than UVA had fans at their spring game

Oregon might have more fans at our game

against Western Carolina that same day than UVA had at their spring game

Don't think for a minute

that you'll hear Oregon say "This is gonna hurt me more than you", though.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

Recruiting Impact

It will be interesting to see how this impacts recruiting. Teams tend to recruit better where they play their games, and Oregon is one of a select few schools that can recruit nationally. If you see anybody commit to Oregon in the next few years from VA, then you can point to this moment as the catalyst.

I'm not worried about UVA stealing our recruits, I'm worried about them helping the elite programs to steal our recruits.

Good point

something to watch.

that's the last thing we need. it's bad enough competing against the entire sec, b1g, acc, some big xii, and fucking stanford plucking kids in va. the ducks come a knockin and 5 stars will answer.

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

Oh man

Even when the hoos lose, it hurts us. Gotta hate em.

I think

We should a change with Pep Hamilton having moved to bigger and better things. He was the one with the ties to the area.

USC never took any VA recruits after beating VT and then UVA twice, I guess we'll see.

I think Oregon will still be pretty good without Kelly, at least next year, their QB is very good and they have returning starters, their new coach is familar with the team like Kelly was when he was promoted from OC a few years ago.

It will be fun to watch UVA lose this one, the stadium will be empty at half time when Oregon is up 35 zero

35-0 at halftime? Nah...that's at the end of the 1st quarter.
