Player Comparison - Ahmed Hill

Yesterday Virginia Tech picked up one of their highest rated recruits in their history in Ahmed Hill. Hill is a pure shooting guard around 6'4, 6'5 and weighs in around 192. I was tempted to compare him to Dwyane Wade but thought of a more realistic comparison which I came up with Lance Stephenson of the Indiana Pacers. Stephenson is a 4 year veteran but only 23 years old. He only attended Cincinnati one year and was arguably the biggest snub for the East all star team this year. He is a 6'5, 230 pure athletic shooting guard who basically does it all. Can get to the basket with a nice jump shot, good passer, and a great rebounder. The only difference between his game and Hill's is that Hill appears to be more of a shot blocker than Stephenson. Below is a game against the Knicks this year where Stephenson absolutely went off.

Compare that to one of Ahmed's highlight reels.

Both Stephenson and Hill are extremely athletic have the ability to pull up and shoot jump shots and have the ability to get to the rim and finish while also displaying good court vision of finding the teammate for easy buckets. Now I know you won't find many rebounds in highlight tapes but Hill averaged over 12 per game this past year I believe and Stephenson averages around 7 right now. Stephenson weighs around 230 however, and Hill around 190 but between now and the season I'm sure Hill will bulk up to around 200. Stephenson is also known for making some bonehead mistakes during the game which I do not believe Hill is known for. Like I said earlier both are pure shooting guards and hardly every play any other position so don't expect to ever see Hill play point guard or small forward at Tech barring injuries to another teammate(s) or unexpected attrition. I am planning on doing a player comparison for the rest of Tech commits sometime this week so stay tuned.
