Virginia Tech Reveals New Orange Jersey to Wear Against North Carolina

The Hokies bust out orange jerseys to welcome the Tar Heels.

[@HokiesFB]

Orange effect will be in, *pauses*, effect in Lane Stadium on Saturday when Virginia Tech hosts North Carolina. The Hokies will rock new orange jerseys to compliment the event.

The tops will be paired with a slick white lid and white pants.

I'm happy for a reprieve from shoulder stripes.

I can't believe it's actually possible to find a bright spot with orange jerseys...but you did.

I believe the entire jersey is technically a bright spot.

You can say that again

That team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked! I've seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

In fact you could say it's so automatic that it's a knee jerk reaction.

It's not bad considering it's orange. If it's the future template I'm excited to be going away from shoulder stripes but I'm a bit bummed it's kinda boring.

I'm sorry but it doesn't look like VT to me. I might get downvotes for this...but if I saw this from afar and couldnt see the "Hokies" on the front I'd say it's a UVA or sarycuse jersey. Personally I'm not fan, but if the recruits/players love it then oh well I guess....but they can still stay off my lawn.

They'll really get after ya

They'll really get after ya

Spalling is a result of water entering brick, concrete, or natural stone and forcing the surface to peel, pop out, or flake off.

First of all, UVA doesn't even have a football team.

Secondly, this honestly doesn't look anything like a Syracuse jersey other than the fact it's orange.

Sigh. They didn't last too long for me though. The reddit thread revealed this:

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

.....awkward

It was a catch!

If I made a funny comment I probably stole it from Reddit.

Not sure what people expect...there are lots of jerseys that look similar

Fortunately ours say 'Hokies' across the front for those who are confused.

Take it easy. Just pointing out that they're very similar to our in-state rivals' look. Not expecting VT to break the mold or anything it just seems a little close for comfort.

Will like it more in maroon for sure, the orange being a near-UVA clone just adds to that anticipation.

Glad that's how they distinguished them because color wise you can't.

I have zero interest in doing the research... but pretty sure we don't have the best record in orange jerseys/all orange...

I'm not a fan of how our orange seems to be getting brighter and brighter every year like it's a neon light or something.

Yeah - the burnt orange doesn't look particularly burnt this time.

It's a good template. I don't see a problem. IMO maroon on this template would be the best jersey we've ever worn.

Wrong thread?

If we're gonna wear a lot of orange, it should at least look like our orange. And make the numbers maroon if these are gonna be more than a one time use.

Now zoom out and realize that the jersey doesn't even match the orange on the wall behind it. And don't get me started on our Chicago Burgundy/Purple BS.

That's because our colors changed in Spring 2016.

Old on the dated wall, new on the uniforms.

Also, anybody who ever has worked with anything in design being printed knows the same exact pantone color can can have a million different looks when printed.

Having not worked with design/printing might I ask a question?

University of Texas says they wear Burnt Orange and so do we. But if you look at a UT jersey compared to ours, they aren't even close. Is this a product of each school looking at burnt orange and Texas reducing the brightness while VT has increased it? Or are they just two different oranges.

My issue with the orange jerseys has always been that it seems they are too light, especially when compared to a school like Texas.

"Burnt orange" is a qualitative description that has many interpretations. It's not like Crayola where a name exactly matches a hue.

Every school has a specific hue that they use, and that is encoded in the PMS (Pantone Matching System) convention, HTML, RGB, etc. If those are different, they're different colors. Doesn't matter what someone happens to call them.

Understood. I had just assumed if you called out the name 'Burnt Orange' and 'Chicago Maroon' that it would directly correspond to a specific RGB code. I'll stick to engineering, thanks!

That website is out of date. The athletic department has been using the new colors for a while, but with the academic rebranding, they moved to use the athletic dept's colors. Here is what our actual maroon looks like and I am pretty sure the orange was changed slightly as well.

The brand guide used to have the new Hex & RGB codes, but it looks like they took them off, which is annoying.

Edit: I could be wrong and the orange is the same - but the maroon is definitely different:

From the brand guide source:

.chicago-maroon-bg {
background-color: rgba(139, 31, 65, 1.0);
}

.burnt-orange-bg {
background-color: rgba(255, 102, 0, 1.0);

We may have the same colors "burnt orange but have different hues. Using the PANTONE color scheme our orange is PMS 158 and Texas' is PMS 159. Our chicago maroon is PMS 208. University of Chicago also has chicago maroon but PMS 202.

Here is an interesting site on NCAA school colors:
https://teamcolorcodes.com/ncaa-color-codes/

Think of it this way.
Both VT and loluva both have "Virginia" in their name.
End of similarities.

Has our maroon gotten lighter in recent years?

Recruit Prosim

I'm just wondering if VT has changed the PMS code for Chicago Maroon in recent years. It seems that at one point during the Vick years our maroon was looking close to a purple shade...the uniforms with the orange numbers on the sleeves

I wish they had a "spend a day with the facilities guy's" day, because then a lot of these people would understand how not everything is going to match in these buildings. It's like the Cassell court thread from a year or so ago all over again. The baseline and the "paint" were the exact same color, but didn't match. Reason being, one had three years of 2 coats each year and the other only had 1 year of 2 coats of paint. Of course it isn't going to match.

The baseline and the "paint" were the exact same color, but didn't match. Reason being, one had three years of 2 coats each year and the other only had 1 year of 2 coats of paint. Of course it isn't going to match.

I don't think that was the reason. They sanded the entire wooden floor of Cassell down to bare before they got started. And I mean everything, from wall to wall, it was all sanded down to bare wood. The reason the paint and the baseline didn't match on later pictures was because, after putting the base coats down, they laid down the Hokiestone stencil and then put on a darker shade to create the finished results. Someone snapped a pic as they were laying down/finishing up that coat, and everyone assumed we just left the court itself too light.

"Some days you’re a horse and some days you’re a horse’s ass. I’ve been a horse’s ass for a little while." - Roy Halladay

I'm not talking about this year with the Hokiestone stencil, but that one is equally as bad. There was the same discussion last year or the year before because the maroons didn't match. I think it was when the ACC changed the logo and changed the arc rule for women, so the paint had been sanded down, but not that baseline. At the time it irked me because I was working there and we gave the floor guys the exact match, but people griped about it because it "didn't" match.

Absolute travesty that our jerseys match our school colors but the wall doesn't

Perhaps it's the lighting, or the lack of contrast usually provided by maroon, but the jersey seems a brighter orange than the new official orange. I wish we had stuck with the shades of both colors in the logo present next to the full uniform. The orange is flexible, but it's a damned travesty that they swapped the maroon color code to the super light maroon.

I like these. I'm even more excited for all maroon and all white variants.

Also, my god. Some of you complain about everything we wear.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

Nope. Brand identity. I identify with the Pylons and "Ut Prosim". That's who we are.

And on a side note, how much is it going to cost the university to replace all of the Pylons logos on campus? It's in the facade of Lane, so that won't be cheap. And how dumb will it look when they have the sqrt of 1 logo next to the swoosh logo on the entrance sign?

They said in the announcement that the pylons logo would remain in some use around campus. I took that to mean if it's in stone on a building, it's staying there.

"Some days you’re a horse and some days you’re a horse’s ass. I’ve been a horse’s ass for a little while." - Roy Halladay

Stripes were our brand

Football team didn't start wearing stripes until 2010 not sure how that makes it our brand

2000 UVA
2002 West Virginia
2003 at Temple.
2008 Furman
2008 Nebraska
2008 Florida State
2008 Boston College
2008 Cincinnati
2009 Marshall
2009 GT
2009 ECU

Not to mention our stripes from 1995 back to 1991...

Good point/add but (aside from 91 to 95) stripes weren't our primary uniforms they were alternates until 2010. And through the prime Beamer years when VT really branded itself as annual contenders in football there were no jersey shoulder stripes so I'd argue that no shoulder stripes is more our "brand".

well that dismantled that argument

I don't give a damn what the fans think cause, quite frankly, I know what the fans want better than they do.

Looking at the full uniform, you may or may not have noticed that these jerseys are the new Nike template (I believe the regular jerseys are still the old one).

One might conclude that we're looking at what next years jersey could look like.

If so, my suggestion would be to make the Maroon and White ones look like the Vick era jerseys with the new number template. That would be straight cash homie

I agree with that take, I think you're right with the new jersey template as OSU unveiled a new gray jersey that has a similar template as you mention. My question is by vick era do you mean numbers being multiple colors? IMO that is too busy, maybe its just jersey OCD with having different colored numbers and not being sure if it would hold up with our modern font. However I think the jersey looks great and would expect the same with white and maroon. It sort of combines different eras of uniforms, the name on the chest looks like the Bruce era, a clean jersey of the vick era, and the number/hokies font a new futuristic look. Maybe its cause I'm young or easily swayed, but to me the look exemplifies...for those who have passed and those to come.

How is it a new Nike template? The OSU Jerseys have stripes on the sleeves. Just not sure how Nike can call it a template when it's just a number and a team name on it unlike the Euro shirts they did for 2016 where they all had the same shoulders. This is what I consider a template.

Agreed we looks like them but it's because they all wear orange. It's hard to make two orange jerseys looks completely unique. But thankfully the maroon differentiates us. Syracuse and UVA have the same primary and secondary colors, how do you think they feel?

We will rarely wear an orange jersey. Think of this in maroon and white.

The argument that teams look like each other just because they use the same color is silly. Kansas State, Northwestern, and LSU all have purple jerseys and everyone can tell them apart pretty easily.

I think the jersey is awesome. The Vick-era jerseys with modern numbers and font was my ideal uniform redesign. I hope the maroon and white versions have the orange sleeve numbers, that's a nice subtle feature that distinguishes them from other clean and simple jerseys. Thank god the stripes are gone.

I do agree the overall look of this is too similar to Clemson/UVA...too much white and not enough maroon in it. This jersey would have looked awesome with maroon pants and helmet instead of white.

I hate orange jerseys as much as the next guy but what about these jerseys with solid maroon pants. Sick?

"Vick's so amazing, that unleashing his skills on some poor defense is almost unsportsmanlike. It's not fair."

Orange collar (slightly smaller than our current ones) and orange cuffs on the sleeves would set it off IMO.

Oh you mean like this

Good first attempt. But Maroon color should be like the background behind it. Looks a bit more Texas brown to me.

Put orange numbers on the sleeves with white outline.

I've always been a big fan of the smaller stripes on the sleeves, like some of the Druck-era ones, over the big long shoulder stripes. Think it looks way less busy.

Second attempt, this time with the close up picture, since it's a little easier to work with. I think the maroon on the version with the orange number is closer to our actual color.

YES. Orange numbers on the sleeves is awesome

I would buy the f out of that bottom jersey. Sexy

I like them and I know its the Orange Effect Game...however give me a little bit more maroon somewhere on the jersey.

This. I mean I don't really like them and perhaps that's because of the lack of maroon incorporated in them. If you're going to do an orange jersey that is fine (I suppose) but at least include the main color or school is known for. Just as any Maroon jersey should include some orange in it somewhere to bring that in and not have us look like aTm or MissSt.

Maroon and Orange are what we are known for so each color should be included in all jersey's imo.

edit: I don't think the outline of the numbers is enough

Orange sucks. And our color is "burnt orange", which is the same as Texas. Not this crappy blinding garbage.

As of the athletic rebrand in 2016, our official orange, while called burnt orange, is the orange we are using on this uniform. A major part of the rebrand was to establish the colors that Starter, Adidas, Russell, and Nike have been using athletically for 30+ years, and the recent academic rebrand brought them in line as well.

"Some days you’re a horse and some days you’re a horse’s ass. I’ve been a horse’s ass for a little while." - Roy Halladay

It still sucks.

Just curious...our Chicago Maroon and Burnt Orange are assigned a specific Pantone PMS code. Did this athletic rebrand change the PMS codes to reflect these colors, wondering what the old PMS numbesr were and what they are now. I seem to recall the burnt orange had a hue closer to Texas burnt orange and the chicago maroon to have a purplish hue.

And our color is "burnt orange", which is the same as Texas.

Technically, it's not.

VT brand page.

When I put both the primary Burnt Orange and "web" Burnt Orange into Photoshop, I get numbers different than the orange on the Texas site.

Burnt Orange

Burnt Orange - "Web"

Both of those are different than the Texas burnt orange. (191, 87, 0)

I had read somewhere that our orange was actually closer to Auburn's, but their code is 221, 85, 12.

We're actually really close to Syracuse, at least our "web" version is. 212, 69, 0.

I had not been to our brand page in a while, but comparing their burnt orange with the jersey, it's closer than I originally thought.

That has also been ff6600 as far as I remember, so it's not like they have changed anything here. This is a great post for that argument.

Yeah, I saw that link, but opted to go with the official websites that were more likely to be up to date.

That would be cool to see. I remember when we unveiled the Nike Pro Combat jerseys back in 2009. There was a stage set up outside of Squires for the big reveal. Tyrod and Cody Grimm came out wearing the new jerseys. It would be cool to do something like that again.

That was back when Nike loved us

Ahh yes, back in the days where Nike put out an official 'Pro Combat' jersey for a select few teams to wear every year.

2009 and 2010 had VT included

A couple schools (Boise, UGa, LSU) had Pro Combats in 2011, but by 2012, Nike has largely discontinued the practice, and instead just worked with individual schools to come up with alternate or special uniforms each year, which came to us last year with the Bristol set.

I miss this marketing strategy. It always felt great to be one of the teams that were marketable enough to get a share of that segment of Nike. It just seemed like Nike cared then too.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Seriously. One thing that they did was put on a bit of a silver/crystal shield around the school logo on the collar for everyone who was in it. That shield was a badge of honor as being one of the schools Nike deemed honorable enough to deserve. I wish they had at least kept that and rolled that out as a standard thing to those schools. They did it in basketball, which is why you see it on Duke, UNC, UK, UF, etc. I just wish that had stuck in football, because it could have seriously been a recruiting edge for us, even over the likes of Clemson and UNC.

I like it, but I agree that it doesn't look like our orange. I would have liked a stripe on the pants and some more maroon piping or cuffs. I also don't like that this is appears to be a different color of a Nike "template". I don't want our jerseys to be anyone's template, I want a jersey that is VT's and only VT's. Also Nike has never seemed to respect Tech enough to make the right damn shade of orange, despite them identifying brand identity issues themselves.

The comparison to other orange teams is inevitable, I bet red teams complain when their jerseys are similar to other red teams, green, etc.

Come to Blacksburg and see what the Hokie Pokie is really all about

What part of this deserved a downvote...

I like them, and I think they would look great under the lights of a night game.

I have never understood the hate for orange, but I do think the move to bright orange has taken away some of the character. If we go for more of the burnt orange instead of the bright orange, I think more people may be on board.

I think they are great. A few thoughts:

- I hope this is the template for next year. I'm fine with or without the "Hokies" on the front. "Tech" on the front of a maroon jersey would be sweet.
- I don't get it when people say "we look like Syracuse, we look like UVA, we look like Clemson". Nike only has so many templates and schools may look similar if they have a shared color. We'd look like PSU if we had blue as a color.
- An orange jersey won't be our primary jersey. Think of this template with a maroon jersey and a white jersey. I think it'll look REALLY SHARP.
- No shoulder stripes. WIN
- The jersey now matches the font

I think they'll look really good on Saturday. We've done orange without completely over doing it. Orange jersey with a white helmet and white pants while still keeping some maroon is pretty good.

I don't get it when people say "we look like Syracuse, we look like UVA, we look like Clemson".

I can't speak for anyone else, but as someone who shares that opinion my answer is simple: if used at all, orange should be an accent color only. I just don't like orange. Let schools like Clemson, Tennessee, and Texas rock godawful orange unis. We should stick to maroon and white as primary colors, with (minimal) orange accents.

This guy gets it:

"Those who jump into the void owe no explanation to those who stand and watch."

I hear what you're saying, but people say "maroon and orange" when talking about our colors...not "Maroon and a little bit of orange".

And they're wearing this jersey once this season and probably rarely down the road. Maroon and white jerseys will still be the primary jerseys going forward. That's what I don't understand about people losing their shit over this. Orange is not replacing one of the standard jerseys.

Maroon and white jerseys will still be the primary jerseys going forward.

Agreed, and I'm not losing my shit over it, just pointing out that I personally don't like orange and would prefer to see us limit its use in uniform combinations. But at the end of the day, I'm just another idiot on the internet with an opinion.

"Those who jump into the void owe no explanation to those who stand and watch."

The "losing shit" part was a general statement...not directed solely at you.

Understood, all good here. I do find it amusing that many of us feel so strongly about uniform design & color combinations... let's be honest, when VT finally wins the national championship I could give two shits if we do it wearing pink tutus.

This been the best thing to come out of Alabama since Bear Bryant

We're wearing a jersey that doesn't have shoulder stripes. It's a good start. I think the full combo looks pretty fresh.

"What kind of person would throw away a perfectly good dog?"

Everyone: "We look too much like _____ school that wears Orange"

Also Everyone: "I hate all the unique jerseys we've ever worn, why can't we have something simple?"

I'd be willing to bet the number of people that have said both of those things is a pretty small percentage.

I think this orange shade is not quite VT enough, though I do like it better than wearing black or grey uniforms.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

Okay, change 'all' to 'most' and I'd be willing to bet that it's a pretty significant percentage.

I dunno.... Maybe I'm way out in left field by myself, but I think there are a lot of people like me who typically don't care enough about the clothing side of football to voice an opinion.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

I guess I should clarify before this goes too far, I don't mean a significant percentage of the entire fanbase.

I meant that I believe that a significant percentage of the people who hate this somewhat generic look for being too generic are also the ones who hate the unique ones that look nothing like anything anyone else had worn previously.

I'm sure the vast majority of the fanbase as a whole is more like you than anyone on here. At the end of the day it's football, what we're wearing really doesn't matter.

I don't care about the color at all, but I saw that there weren't any stupid looking shoulder stripes and full on rejoiced. Please let this be a sign that we are moving away from the shoulder stripe.

I initially didn't like it. I thought it was far too bland of a uniform, but after sleeping on it... I get it, and I'm coming around.

I only have a couple quick thoughts.

First, I would prefer to scrap the school name on the front. I've always felt that was a little amateurish to put that there, with a bit of a "you don't know who we are, so let us tell you". I would much prefer to scrap that with the assumption that we're big boy enough to not have to state our name. If you still want to keep the name, maybe do something different, and have it read 'Virginia Tech' and 'Hokies' across the shoulders?

Second, if we're going to go for a refresh of the turn of the century set, go all the way and flip the colors on the shoulder numbers. That was something that only we did back then, and was a unique look that set us apart while keeping us streamlined.

But yeah... other than that, they look pretty good.

Also, for those who say these look like the UVa set that was debuted but not worn last year... First of all, you're not wrong, its a dead ringer with just the different font and maroon instead of blue... Secondly,

"Some days you’re a horse and some days you’re a horse’s ass. I’ve been a horse’s ass for a little while." - Roy Halladay

Sharp, but I'd prefer swapping out the white for black, particularly at home. It would also be Halloweeny.

"Dick to Hyman? DICK TO HYMAN!" - Guy in Lane Stadium crowd when Richard Johnson hit Josh Hyman on reverse pass in 2004.

You do realize we have a home game next weekend as well, right? Halloween weekend? Be the perfect time to pull out black and orange unis.

PUMPKIN HELMETS

Not to beat a dead horse from the above comments, but the orange on the jersey definitely 'looks' different than the orange in the background lettering.

My official jersey opinions. I love these, I love when we wear Orange, I love the HokieStone jerseys, I loved the Boise St game jerseys, I love AME, I love Sean Glennon's Georgia Tech backwards swoosh jersey. The only one I can say I truly hated are the Marcus Vick era one-sleeve jerseys. And I think when we wear all white (jersey/pants) it looks like pajamas.

I'm on your fucking lawn, and I'm not going anywhere

You can stay on my lawn friend. I might even bring you out some coffee and/or bourbon if it gets cold. Would you mind reseeding it for me while you're there?

I'll gladly reseed out here, but I'm more of a "Let the leaves sit and rot to provide nutrients for the earth underneath because I read an internet article about it for support but really I'm just lazy" kind of guy.

watch out for bears, don't step in the dog shit, and what kind of beer do you like?

I've been drinking.

Depends on the occasion. Mostly craft during the week, but if we're dartying, I'll take some Coors Light

We'll get along just fine. But you have to bring your own coors light. Bud light is the house swilling beer.

I like them and hope that is our new template for next year. Those in maroon will look fantastic. I was never big on the shoulder stripes. (or the Fuente era stripe on the helmet)

"I'm too drunk to taste this chicken" - Colonel Sanders via Ricky Bobby

I'll be honest here, I've never understood the hate for the shoulder stripes. I don't think they're bad.

I'm glad our jerseys are bright, because UNC is going with the Stormtroopers this weekend. Between their unis and our helmets/pants there is going to be a lot of white on the field!

The Stormtrooper look didn't work out too well for WVU...

I thought they'd wait until at least halftime to surrender. It's a bold strategy to start the game wearing the white flag.

surrender? yeah, 'cause the last time they went all white in Lane that turned out real well for us.

This is what I immediately thought of.

I've been drinking.

This is why I'm a fan of the "Hokies" on the front of our jerseys. It took me a while to figure out which school this is and I'm still not 100%. Saw the star and thought Vanderbilt but they don't have orange. I'm guessing this is OK St. with the star referencing cowboys?

.....
95% of what I say is sarcastic. The other 5% is usually taken out of context.

Sorry, that is OK State.

I've been drinking.

I would be ok with replacing the emblem on the collar with the state of Virginia with TECH below on a jersey. A subtle nod to the old helmets.

I love that helmet and logo, but I don't think it should be on the new uniform. It is weird when you combine modern and throwback.

Not the full logo of the helmets. Just replace the small VT embroidered logo on the v-neck with an embroidered state of Virginia. Then the regular jersey font TECH (like this Jersey's HOKIES). Just subtle homage, no where near full incorporation of the old Virginia Tech helmet.

Gotcha. I'd be alright with that. I will say that I do like the "VT" there though.

I like the "TECH". Having "HOKIES" on one jersey and "TECH" on the other next year would be cool.

At least the VT points downward, like the collar itself. The state of Virginia points upward, and causes a bit of a design clash.

Man after seeing all these different schools' orange jersey's its apparent that Nike is just getting lazy.

If you don't want to recruit clowns, don't run a clown show.

"I want to punch people from UVA right in the neck." - Colin Cowherd

I don't think its that Nike is necessarily getting lazy, but design aesthetic is getting far more minimal than it was 10 years ago. The NHL and NBA are getting hit big with this movement lately, and you're starting to see it in the NFL with Buffalo going more traditional, and supposedly Jacksonville and Tennessee doing so as well next year. You are even seeing it in corporate America where company wordmarks and logos are getting more simplistic and generic. Its just the sign of the times.

So Jacksonville will be getting rid of those awful black and gold men's softball helmets?

that is supposedly the case

Thanks for the update, Joe.

I haven't been to Orange, New Jersey in a minute, Fam.

7/10. Would give 10/10 with some maroon piping down the side of the jersey.

Personally I love them. I got so excited when I saw the stripes were gone that my wife quipped that if I'm that excited about a jersey she can't wait to see me when she tells me she's pregnant.

Perhaps I hated the stripes so much that I was just excited for that particular component. In any case they look cleaner and simpler.

I wonder what will come of the helmet stripes next year (assuming this will be the jersey template) because those stripes will look a bit out of place against these jerseys.

I liked adding the stripes to the helmet simply because it looked slightly better with the shoulder stripes but the way I see it, no shoulder stripes, no need for helmet stripes.

If a tree falls in Scott Stadium does it make a sound?

I actually like the helmet stripes better with this orange jersey more than with our maroon/white threads, since the jersey stripes and helmet stripes currently do not match.

Personally, I hope they keep the helmet stripes next season and beyond as when I see photos with the stripes, I immediately think of the Fuente coaching era. I have enjoyed how no matter how different/odd the alternate helmets have been in 2016/2017 there has been consistency with the 'VT' logo and helmet striping... finally.

she can't wait to see me when she tells me she's pregnant.

God help you if you botch that.

Yep, apparently "oh shit" is not the correct reaction.

I botched it due to the timing of a new job and moving. Oh well.

Posted this on Facebook but it bears repeating -- All these clowns getting uppity about "it's not maroon for the Orange Effect game, wahhh".. Dear lord. Guess what? Uniform color (all maroon everything) didn't influence the game against Clemson and it won't influence the game against UNC. Orange is one of our colors, and it's the Orange Effect game. Not sure why this needs to be explained, but here we are. I, for one, love this uniform.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

A big piece of me says that if we are going to wear orange, we should darken it and go all out. #allOrangeEverything

Regarding the discussions on the correct colors of maroon and orange, Bill Roth tweeted what the new colors were. Apparently Chicago Maroon went from PMS 208 to PMS 7428 and Burnt Orange from PMS 158 to PMS 173. Anyone know what the official colors are? Can't seem to find it in the VT Brand web site.

https://twitter.com/BillRoth_/status/891504101040812033

Official University colors are still PMS 208 and PMS 158.

#sauce: the password-protected VT Brand Center (there's not much super interesting behind the wall, just a lot of web usage guidelines and logos/templates)

Ah, this is what I was looking for from my comment earlier. It was available on the public brand site when it first went live, but I guess they moved it to the private site for some reason.

I love this so much I might actually buy my first football jersey if they're ever made available. Would love to see if we get this in maroon. Love the minimal design and the lack of stripes.

Personally not a huge fan of orange jerseys but these don't look half bad.

Ruhland posted that these are just one off jersey, aka this may not be the new template and we will be stuck with stripes for the foreseeable future :(

No stripes next year.

The uniforms are changing next year. Just means that this won't necessarily be the template we change into

Good. I don't like looking like Oklahoma State. Worse than the jerseys... the cheerleading uniforms. I'm reasonably certain they just swapped some logos from OSU.
