I flipped over to ESPNU and the I-AA playoff game between Towson and Eastern Washington is burning my eyes!

While we're at it, how about passing the rule to fix these travesties as well?

Damn kids and their technology...
Only one that really bothers me is the first one, that all red is bad
I actually like the weird colored fields. Those are part of those school's traditions. I don't want to take that away from them. I don't want us to do it though. Though if we did do it, I would still root for the Hokies on their #AllMaroonEverything field. Unless they did an orange effect field. That might be a problem. Or it might be awesome. Never mind. An orange effect field would be neat.
must... resist.... downvote.
traditions? what traditions? these fields didn't exist 20 years ago, maybe not even 10 years ago. Football was meant to be played on grass. grass is green. so if you're going to have fake grass, make it green. simple.
Yeah and we didn't come out of the tunnel to enter sandman twenty years ago either, but that doesn't stop me from calling it a vt tradition.
He makes a very good point. Touche.

Boise St is one thing but...damn. Smdh
Pretty sure a rule was passed that states schools can not color their fields artificial colors. However schools such as Boise state, that already had artificially colored fields before the rule was implemented, do not have to change their field colors.
The second and fourth pics above were installed in the last three years.
So I thought the NCAA had a rule banning non-green turf. Apparently, that does not exist. The NCAA proposed a rule about turf so that the home uniforms cannot be the same color as the turf.
I don't think the NCAA at this point could enforce any rule...let alone one like that.
Maryland was thinking about an all-black turf for their recent renovation, but they came to their senses...well, somewhat, at least....I mean they do still have those unis....
That'd be awful in the summer...
Reminds me of playing ball on the street in the summer.
With a turtle print sublimated...

Eh...I don't know. These fields all have character.

So did Jeffrey Dahmer and look how that turned out.
Wow. You, sir...you went there.
The third picture looks photo shopped. Look at the tractor and the closest side of the field nothing lines up. I think it's an artist's rendition.
I think though all those schools pictured above are FCS or lower. I think Boise to date is the only FBS School with a non-green field.
I loathe those fields. I can't even watch a game on tv that's played at Boise State. I really don't understand how there wasn't a rule implemented as soon as the first school did that. Then the first time the turf needed to be replaced they'd have to go back to green or just, you know, grow grass.
This post should be retitled FUGLY FIELDS.
Better? LOL
