Exactly this. Whether we were going .500 or competing for ACC Championships, Tech football had kept me invested since I've started watching. Now, this shit isn't fun, like at all. To the point that I have minimal feelings about the games because we're just finding ways to not show up on one or both sides of the ball. We're getting out coached, out played, out hearted every game now. I can handle losing if the team competes and looks like they had a chance. Getting embarrassed and expecting to lose takes out the joy that goes with watching sports. At this point, I think I'd be happier if we didn't play another game this season.

He was one of the big names at the time, but unfortunately sometimes these things just don't pan out. There were some red flags that I think were overlooked. He got credit for giving Memphis a pulse, but he had never managed a P5 program with serious expectations before, and had never been a strong recruiter. Those things were glossed over, and unfortunately there was a lot of learning on the job. Just wasn't a good fit.

Let's be honest here. The coaching sucks, but the personnel is really bad as well. I know we don't want to rag on the players, but as someone said earlier, there are some really wink links on both sides of the ball. Scary thing is, with our recruiting, it's gonna get way worse.
Pitt has identified the biggest weakness, our back seven, and they are hammering it over and over and over again, because our players are either incapable of competing or our coaching is so stubborn that they refuse to adjust. I'd bet Pitt has really just been working from a base of a few passing plays today. No reason to change because we refuse to try and compete.
To be fair, Pitt is a pass first team this year. so they haven't necessarily identified a weakness so much as played to their strength.
True, but when it's the same play right and the same play left, it's by design. They know we're giving the 10 yard cushion, no matter what happens, so their just taking the free yards. This offense can look good if you have a phenomenal talent. Evans made these coaches look good. But it's clear now that the coaching wasn't the reason 2016 was productive. I think if Beamer stayed, Jerod plays elsewhere, and we finish with 6 or 7 wins

JHam needed to leave Buds system in place for this year. No reason to even attempt the install after spring camp got canceled. He wasn't an outside hire unfamiliar with the current system. He played under Bud, coached under Bud and probably could have gotten input from Bud as the season went on. Honestly that is probably the biggest fuck up of the season. It also quite possible that Ryan Smith and Jack Tyler are better play callers than JHam. I think he is in over his head.
Not sure I can do the same. 4 field goals and 5 touchdowns against you when you are playing 'keep everything in front of you' is just bad coaching. If you are going to give up that many scores might as well take chances.

Turner broke a record catching 15 balls against us. He had only caught 21 all year. That's our defense in a nutshell.
As cmon you guys you'll get this Fuente crap again that the effort was good, we played good situational football but just could not quite eke it out. Aw shucks

The entire football staff has to be replaced. It's going to be a long road back to respectable for this program.
I missed the second half and just watched it to level set after seeing all the comments. My general takeaway, we just do not have the personnel to beat, it appears anyone, especially with how these players are setup to fail each week by the staff with poor strategy, planning, and in-game coaching.
EDIT: watched post-game and FU's responses to Barber about taking over play calling and Tre in 2nd half was totally dick. this guy is such a jackass. maybe if you are Saban or Belichick but not when you are getting your ass handed to you with a losing record.
Observations:
1) It did not appear to me the D quit. They were still hitting hard (as best they can) and getting to the ball even at the end. Pitt was a better team, as has been every offense this year, even with half their O-lines out.
2) We left 10 to 13 points on the board easy early in the 3rd which drastically changed the dynamic of the game. However, Pitt would have kept scoring but maybe it would have been closer.
3) Aside from the trio of QB power stupidness during the game, I did not see anything particularly horrible called in the 2nd half. Short yardage is so bad though too. I breezed through it so maybe it felt different watching live without jumping play to play.
4) We have zero threat to extend the field with WRs. I mean truly, this core is one of the most talent deficient we've had even before FU. At tech we've always had at least one deep/real threat but this is really bad.
5.) HH is okay but cannot make fast reads or consistent throws in short, medium or long.
6.) Without Herbert, this team would be 2-7.
7.) I have no idea why this D's dropoff is so drastic from last year. Caleb and Waller have been out but everything is in complete disarray. Line should be better and backers too. Coaching and secondary issues I guess.
8) No one is getting better.
9) I don't really care anymore. I expect use to loose every game and I feel really bad for the players cause it looks like they are trying hard, trust the coaches, but the program as a whole is just not as good as most others now and it is only going to get worse.
Positive: ACCN commercials seemed slightly less terrible this week... So... That's .... Something
