Eh, I'm letting him sit on FA for another week. He's someone to watch as a sleeper though, if you want to stash him. Not a whole lot of offense to go around for Washington, but they need pass catchers and Logan could be one of them.

Wentz is making all sorts of bad decisions today. I get that the WFT should have a decent defense based on their talent, but Wentz is giving them extra yards on every sack too.

I'd say somewhere in between. Eagles were down an absurd amount of players by the end of the game and you could see they were mentally defeated once WFT tied the game.

Couldn't help but notice that Ky. Wildcat, Lynnn Bowden, of recent Duke's Mayo Bowl fame ???, was traded from the Raiders to the Dolphins prior to the start of the season.......... (He was with the Raiders for at least 4 months and 0 games.) I have to wonder why, could it possibly been a character issue?? That would be SO surprising considering his despicable behavior in the warmup period prior to the Bowl game with the Hokies. Not a good look for Mr. Bowden or Kentucky Football.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I know people here don't like him because of the Belk Bowl incident, but I don't think wild speculation about his character is called for.
Multiple people have reported the trade was simply due to him not working out at running back (I'm personally shocked he didn't immediately pick up a position he's never played before in a few weeks of practice).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The report that I read indicated the Raiders were concerned about his behavior possibly negatively impacting their other draft picks and that he seemed to be more interested in looking at cars than learning the playbook.

Peeking at the Chargers subreddit, most of the 20 people on there are calling for Herbert to replace Tyrod already. I watched the game, he had a few errant throws but made some nice ones as well, has a tough task against KC next week though.
Also think I saw Faycson on special teams maybe? don't know if he got defensive snaps as well.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The backup is always the most popular player. If they stick with Tyrod I think they have a legit shot at the playoffs with that defense and few solid weapons.
I actually think the Chargers game plan and play calling were too conservative. The reality is that Tyrod himself takes care of the ball, so they need to trust him to take care of the ball while being more aggressive. That game plan was so safe and vanilla. It was playing not to lose, and it was a questionable push-off from biting them in the ass in game 1 already.
Tyrod extended multiple drives where they had unsuccessful conservative first and second down calls lead to third and longs by making the kind of superman plays he often made at VT. They need to let that man loose a little bit.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
yea I agree, their play calling was stineyesque in some ways. If I remember correctly they also couldn't convert on some 3rd and 4th and shorts in the redzone by running the ball. Sucks to see Tyrod in this position again though, was hoping that because the Chargers have to elite WRs and a pretty good back in Ekeler, he could thrive, but hopefully they'll open up the playbook more going forward.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I don't mind being aggressive at the right times, but I still disagree with the McCarthy call to go for it on 4th down inside the red zone when a field goal would've tied it. If it was 1 yard and you're trusting the OLine and Zeke to get it, I could probably live with it, but 4th and 3 when the field goal ties it seems unnecessary.
Also, losing Jarwin for the year sucks and losing LVE for 6-8 (more?) weeks with a broken collarbone make for a super shit start for the year.

Right guard Wyatt Teller scored an outstanding 91.2 for the Browns. Not only does it top the Browns offensive scoring from PFF, but it makes Teller the highest-graded guard in the entire league through Sunday's games

Looks like another long year on tap in Cincinnati but Burrow looks the part. If they can turn 75%+ of the roster over in the next few years they might be in a good spot. Or he wastes his career there. It's really hard to say.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
As a Browns fan I am not happy with how good Burrow looked out there tonight. He is going to be a problem for years. That said the Browns defense is like half 2nd string with all the injuries and didn't look like anyone other than Ward knew how to play pass coverage. Giving up 30 to that depleted Bungals squad was a big disappointment.

The defense and OLine are really bad in Cincy. I like their offense skill players. If they can find a few free agents and draft Sewell to go along with Jonah, they may be able to win a few of these shootouts....at least until they can fix the D....
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I think it was a good idea to install a lot of LSU stuff for Burrow, but I think they are using a little too much of it when they don't have the line to pull a lot of the empty stuff off effectively. I think they are trying to do too much LSU stuff right now at the cost of leaning more on Mixon, which is the established quantity they know can produce now.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
You can also tell Burrow is still getting up to speed with how NFL works. One play last nights really stood out to me. He went out of the pocket to his right and a DL from the browns was there and he tried to spin move away and the DL just grabbed him and slammed him down.
It goes to for me the oddity of NFL teams drafting QB's 1st and playing them right away. Manning was the last QB picked 1st to win a super bowl and he still split some reps his first year in the league.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Is there a championship window? It's been 16 years since a draft with a QB taken first has won a Super Bowl. I'd say the data is starting to create a trend here.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
i don't even know why "#1 overall pick starting on day one" is any different than any other "first round QB starting on day one". If anything the argument is just that teams with a first overall QB are particularly poor.... but horribly terrible teams are also likely among the most QB needy. are you arguing that teams should mortgage the future to move up and get a rookie QB to try to put them over the top as opposed to drafting one into a poor team?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'm saying bad teams that have #1 picks shouldn't play their new not NFL ready QB week 1-5 as the starter. It does nothing to help the team short or long term. Let them get used to the game, get some better playmakers around them in year 2 and make a run. QB's not named Manning taken outside top 9 haven't won a Super Bowl since the 1983 draft.
If you are an awful just awful NFL team (Browns, Bengals, Washington, Jags etc) I'd rather drop down to a 8-15 pick and get a 2nd 1st round or three 2nd round picks to actually build a team instead of hope for the best and then turn out the same way it has for 15 years of drafts, not winning a Super Bowl and only once even making it (Newton).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
that's fair. (Don't forget Goff also made a super bowl appearance). I don't agree that super bowl appearances in a vacuum is the end-all be-all indicator of whether or not a pick was a success. but i think i would tend to agree that NFL teams are actually not all that great at evaluating QBs and often reach due to high positional value.
also worth noting that there are 5 #1 overall QBs who are still active with the franchise that drafted them.

Welp. Tyrod has probably lost his starting job already. Out today with a chest injury and Herbet gets the start and immediately leads a TD drive against KC.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
It's weird because I feel bad for him but at the same time, I can't feel all that bad because he's made a nice career for himself. Not many 6th round picks stick in the league 10 years. It's just frustrating because it never seems like he can get a team that will let him be "the guy" for 2 years just to see what happens. It's always something. Maybe the team doesn't have any talent around him. Or he'll get talent but the team takes another QB and eventually moves on. He's never really had an opportunity to where he's not always looking over his shoulder.

During halftime of the Pats/Seahawks game it was reported that he was hospitalized with chest pains Sunday morning. It was also reported that the bolts head coach stated when he is healthy he will play (for whatever that's worth).
How does your starting QB injury his ribs in practice? There is no contact between linemen anymore so I know no one is getting close to the QB. Tyrod is super unlucky in his pro career...

OMG I was freaking out on so many levels during that game. I was ranting like a mad woman for most of the game. Got happier when Dallas woke their asses up and started playing. More ranting due to stupid mistakes and still losing. Hyperventilating during the last 2 minutes of football time. Squeezing my hands together so hard my fingers turned purple after the onside kick. Jumping and screaming and dancing when the field goal was good...
It was a FUGLY game but my Boys somehow won.

I do see positive things with this Washington football team, and I think once Kendall Fuller gets back the secondary will be much better (although Apke is good for two or three boneheaded moments in each game that result in huge plays).
Whenever the offense can figure out how to generate first downs early in the game, things will be much different.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I dont know whether they need more receiving threats or whether Haskins is too in love with the check down, but defenses do not fear the big play. Something needs to improve there because the running game shows signs of promise. Agree that Fuller will add to a pretty god defense.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I think having a deep threat has to coincide with a line that can block better than a wet tissue. They were what, 31st last week in time for Haskins to throw? I don't think they did much better yesterday.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
We do need upgrades at the WR position. But Haskins, even when he gets time, is horribly inaccurate with his passes. He left a ton of yards on the field yesterday.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That is what I am seeing as well. Very few easy catches for receivers. May be footwork issues, I would have to check the replay. He is also pulling too early of he wants to complete a pass and too late if he wants legitimate yards with his legs. I am pulling for him, but I have not been encouraged yet.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah, asking a lot for the defensive line to contain and tackle him, and the talent falls off quickly as you hit the LB core. No one in the league can completely lock down Hopkins, and their other options (Kirk, Isabella, Fitz) are all really good too. That's a talented offense in AZ.

I still can't believe the Cowboys overcame a 20-0 deficit, and 29-10 halftime deficit. I don't know how Atlanta didn't try aggressively to recover that onside kick, but I am certainly not mad about it.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
You and me both! That was crazy. When I called my dad at the end of the game (I have always watched football with my dad and since I got married and moved away, I always call after every score and win), he was completely shocked because he hadn't been watching the game. He had no idea that they had come back that much. The last he heard was when it was 39-30. I was talking to my mom at that point and forgot to tell her to let me talk to him. Then when Dallas got the last touchdown, I didn't call yet... He was not expecting my call at the end.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Watching that kick, it feels like Atlanta forgot that the ball has to go 10 yards before the kicking team can touch it, ot the receiving team. Thats just bad coaching.
Anyone of the 3-4 Falcons right by it should have fallen on it.
I hate the Cowboys with a passion so that was not fun to watch.

Actually felt pretty good about NE after last nights game, they never quit kept at it and had a shot to win on the last play and Seattle simply made a play late. Gonna be interesting to see how far Newton can take NE with limited weapons on offense and depending how long White is out. Gotta feel bad for James white right now with all hes going through.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Dang! I wasn't paying attention to much yesterday, so just read about White after seeing your post. He is by far one of my favorite NFL players! His Super Bowl 51 performance helped me win a fantasy playoff pool. He should've won MVP for that. Has always come across as a hardworking, do it the right way, all business, kind of player. Praying for him and his family.

Yup its a pretty sad story considering how good of a guy he is, really loved seeing all the players from around the league showing support last night on the broadcast.

As much as I don't like the Pats, I do want to see Cam do well. He was done dirty in Charlotte from the start, with their refusal to get him WR help or a competent OL to protect him. Last night we saw how good he can be when he's given time to make his reads.
Also goes to show just how important the OL is. The fact that so many teams just refuse to make it a priority is befuddling. It needs to be Step 1 in how to build a contender.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I've never been a Pats fan either, but I've enjoyed watching them these first two weeks. I like how they've mixed in some read option/RPO/and inverted veer concepts into the offense to utilize Cam's running ability. Also looking forward to Keene making his debut hopefully this weekend, as I think he's been battling an injury the last few weeks. Pretty impressive showing by Cam last night to lead the comeback and almost clinch the win.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
They also are almost going out of their way to de-emphasize Cam running the ball to make the times he does run more effective, while keeping him from getting hit as often.
This is in stark contrast to the way Rivera used him, which was to essentially run him early, run him often, let him get hit as much as humanly possible, and then go full shocked Pikachu face when the injuries happen, significantly impacting his play.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Definitely would agree that Carolina really worked him hard in that element and after a few years in a row with bad injuries they kept on which was dumb. I like the threat he brings with his feet but definitely feel he has some good arm talent and has a good knack for avoiding sacks to get that extra second or two which really helps.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
BTW, did anyone else think the officials in the Washington game weren't that great? Questionable calls both ways, and then Rivera had to throw the challenge flag to point out that the defense had two many guys on the field.
Hoping it was just a first year white hat not having a preseason to work the kinks out.

Lynn seems like a good guy. If there's a guy in the league that would keep his word, its likely him. But I'm highly skeptical that Herbert won't keep the job. He'd have to stink it up for Tyrod to get back in there imo. Herbert looked really good in that KC start. He is the future of the franchise. And even with some minor hiccups in his play, the fact that he can play like he did against KC means you should leave him out there from a football perspective. That's just how it works. All my bias wants Tyrod to get his job back, but the rational thing to do is leave Herbert out there

nd even with some minor hiccups in his play, the fact that he can play like he did against KC
I've seen this mentioned a lot from fans and pundits alike, but the KC defense isn't anything special. They finished 14th in defensive DVOA last year. They are, and have been for many years, a pretty middle of the road NFL defense. It has been a long time since they were elite. The reason this game was close is because the Charger's defense is actually really strong and stacked. Particularly they can get pressure with just the DL and have a good secondary. Herbert was impressive for a rookie, but that game was close because the Chargers defense held KC's offense, the actual strength of the team, in check.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Even if he really does mean that, the second Tyrod makes a mistake the fans will scream for Herbert now that they've seen him. Unless Tyrod plays out of his mind, it's Cleveland all over again.

I'm not a doctor, but I would think that not only does he have to deal with the hole in his lung, but wouldn't this mean that the actual contents of the syringe went into his lung, not where it was supposed to go? Fluid in the lungs is never good, even if it is only a few ccs.

Thursday night football: I have #blessed enough to go down on the sideline once during a game (the awful 09 Carolina Thursday nighter). I didn't understand the "qualifiedness" of Erin Andrews until that night. Mercy.

I took my son to his first game in Blacksburg for the 2006 Clemson game (one of my favorite games in Lane Stadium). He was all dressed up in his Hokie gear with a sweet little sign, and it just so happened that as we walked down the side walk some security guards stopped us so a car could pull in next to the ESPN trailer... Out rolled the crew.
High five from Todd Blackledge and Erin Andrews for the little guy (she gushed over how cute he was for a moment). I can confirm your opinion of Erin Andrews.

Knew it was coming. Like I said somewhere earlier in this thread or maybe the Hokies in the NFL thread, its just the nature of the NFL. Herbert is playing too well to take out regardless of the circumstances. He looks like the real deal and when you were drafted in the 1st round, its pretty much a done deal that you're gonna be the starter

However, Herbert actually looks like he is an NFL caliber quarterback. Would be very hard to take him out now, especially since that franchise needs any and all reasons to get fans on board and to stay interested.

That was a niiice hit by Kyle. I loved how you heard the collective 'Ooooh" when he laid his shoulder into Evans. It was a fumble. He had possession and took 3-4 steps....
I also loved Brady's hissy fit at he end of the game when he threw the incomplete pass on 4th down then threw the tablet on the sidelines.

Wtf how true. Team has more problems than just QB position. They could draft 7 more rounds and still not have an NFL roster. On o, they have mclaurin and Gibson, and a bad o line. On d, they have a decent line and a couple players in the back end. Winning is not in the future of this team. They should go the suck for Lawrence route

Yeah but that is in the immediate wake of the injury, they say what they are supposed to say. If its looking like he won't be back at full strength does anyone really think he will get a big contract or franchise tag again? It def sucks for him, and that was the risk he took when he did not sign one of the deals that was on the table, but that is the business of the NFL. "Not For Long"

He's signing with the Chiefs. They have enough weapons where they can take a flyer on him for cheap (won't have to break the bank since he still gets his money from the Jets) and it won't really matter if he doesn't pan out. But, if he returns to even half of his peak form, though, this is a huge win for them.

What a shit show this season has been with injuries, Covid delays, etc but dang if there arn't some entertaining games too.
The Hawks/Cards game last night was a lot of fun to watch. I started Budda Baker as my IDP in fantasy yesterday and even I let out a yell when DK caught up to him.
I get the feeling next weeks Sunday nighter is going to be a snoozer, even though I will always love my Eagles. I am getting a little tired of every talking head saying "Well somebody has to win it." when talking about the NFC East. We know. The way this season has gone, just get in the playoffs. I don't know why a DC wouldn't blitz in this situation. Even with a Murray or Jackson at QB what are the chances of him breaking off a 50ydr. I would bring the house and make him get the ball out of his hands quickly.

It's like Gregg Easterbrook used to write all the time in his Tuesday Morning Quarterback column (on of the best things ESPN.com ever had)
It's all about blame management.
If the DC blitzes and the quarterback takes off or finds a wide open man and they score and win, coach gets roasted.
If he calls it safe and a guy makes a ridiculous catch, then it's the blame on the 3 guy around him that didn't "make a play". What was the DC "supposed to do"?
Kind of like OCs that call QB power on 3rd and 7 to settle for a 54 yarder...

I'm good. I've seen it work the opposite way way more than the few times the blitz doesn't get home.... like Coach Williams blitzing Testaverde on 1st-3rd down and forcing errant throws and then on 4th down and 10 he fakes and drops into a zone only to allow Testaverde to hit Patrick freaking Crayton for a game winning TD with 39secs left..... With Antonio Gibson out, Thomas and McKissic become the focal points as teams double cover McLaurin. Cam Sims had a really good game as well and is steadily improving. Amazing what happens when your QB is relatively accurate.
Thomas is definitely the most versatile, be it throwing, running, catching or blocking, even recovering teammates fumbles by snatching the ball away from Watt. Next up he needs to channel his inner James Mitchell and return punts

The Steelers played cute football on offense. Too many checkdown passes. Roethlisberger threw 52 pass attempts to their 14 rushes. Had like 6 passes dropped and 5 more batted at the line of scrimmage. Cant believe how long he waited to snap the ball on that failed 4th down attempt late in the game. His receiver was standing out there for almost ten seconds before they snapped it with no one covering and he let the defense recover.
Thomas did a bit of everything. Big blocks, fumble recovery, touchdown, 9 catches for 98. He stepped into the massive void left by Antonio Gibson's injury in the 4th quarter. Refreshing to see a coach that can adjust during a game since that has been a void in my college fandom life the past few years.

Baker Mayfield's end of the half hail mary attempt last night was the longest NFL pass attempt PFF has ever charted 🚀 👀 pic.twitter.com/lsRWDiwCjT— PFF (@PFF) December 15, 2020

I have the WFT game on as background noise mostly and it seems like every time I look at the TV, Logan Thomas is making a catch. Leads the team right now with 5 out of 9 receptions.
Right before halftime, they showed a graphic that he has 64 yds of offense and the rest of the team has another 64 yds.

Isaiah Ford has a chance to earn himself more PT today. The Dolphins already have one of the worst collections of skill position guys in the NFL, and they are without Devante Parker AND Mike Gesicki today. Isaiah already has at least one catch that I've seen. I would love for him to develop a little mojo with Tua.

I don't know about that. Competing for a playoff spot one year into the Riverboat Ron tenure is a HUGE victory for a team that struggled to find a couple of wins the past two seasons.
We (Redskins fans) knew the team was entering the season without a QB, so any production from that position is a positive. No QB on the roster is the QB of the future. The franchise will need to sign a crafty veteran for a few years and then try to draft its way into a young franchise QB.

This a positive, not a welp. Heinicke came in with 9 minutes left in the game and threw for 137 yards. Haskins has been a poison in the locker room and a dumpster fire on the field. He only managed 154 yards in 51 minutes. Heinicke also had the only touchdown.
I'm not a fan of the WFT but I have been following them a lot closer this year. Haskins has been awful all year long but I have to question the timing of this with 1 game remaining and a playoff spot still up for grabs. I dont disagree that he shouldn't be starting, but if Alex Smith can't go then does that mean that Montez (rookie with no NFL action) is the backup?
I think we should expect to hear that LT is getting reps in practice this week... although his future is clearly at the TE spot after the season he's had.

Montez was signed to be QB3 while Smith was out. If Smith isn't a go on Sunday its Heinicke. Idk what is questionable about timing, clearly Heinicke would have started over Haskins if he was still on the roster.

Literally with the way the WFT D is playing all the QB has to do is not Haskins the game away. Philly may be without Cox so if the O can score 17pts and not create short fields WFT is winning the division....

And you can't peg this to a coach or system... This is a 40-year track record where the most successful post college QB from one of the top programs in the country is Kirk Herbstreit.

Here's a quick look at the dozen quarterbacks drafted into the NFL since 1980 and how they fared in the league.
1982: Art Schlichter — 13 games, 0-6 as a starter, 1,006 yards, 3 TD, 11 INT
1987: Jim Karsatos — Never played an official down in the NFL
1988: Tom Tupa — 4-9 record as a starting QB, 3,420 yards, 12 TD, 25 INT — 873 career punts, 43.4-yard average
1992: Kent Graham — 81 games, 17-21 as a starter, 7,801 yards, 39 TD, 33 INT
1996: Bobby Hoying — 22 games, 3-9-1 as a starter, 2,544 yards, 11 TD, 15 INT
1999: Joe Germaine — 3 games, 0-0 as a starter, 136 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT
2002: Steve Bellisari — Never played an official down in the NFL
2004: Craig Krenzel — 5 games, 3-2 as a starter, 718 yards, 3 TD, 6 INT
2007: Troy Smith: 20 games, 4-4 as a starter, 1,734 yards, 8 TD, 5 INT
2012 (2011 supplemental draft pick): Terrelle Pryor — 3-7 record as a starting QB, 1,994 yards, 9 TD, 12 INT — 1,563 receiving yards, 7 TD
2016: Cardale Jones — 1 game, 0-0 as a starter, 96 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT
2019: Dwayne Haskins — 16 games, 3-10 as a starter, 2,804 yards, 12 TD, 14 INT
Over the last 40 years, the best NFL quarterback to come out of Ohio State was one that didn't even get drafted, Mike Tomczak, who signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent just ahead of their historic 1985 season. Tomczak played 15 NFL seasons with the Bears, Packers, Browns, and Steelers and appeared in 185 games, throwing for 16,079 yards with 88 touchdowns and 106 interceptions, and went 42-31 as a starter, racking up more wins than the dozen quarterbacks listed above combined.
If you're just looking at win percentage of games started, Krenzel might qualify with his .060 over Tomczak's .575.

Just pointing out, the stats above are NFL stats. Some of these folks went on and did other things. Schlicther's numbers look a lot better when you factor in his CFL and Arena time. None of that matters if you can't stay out of jail.
Germaine went on to play a year in NFLE and put up better numbers. But still not great. Fared far better in Arena.
It just that much more sad that we have to look for contributions in other leagues from first round picks and rose bowl MVPs.

Thomas just caught a key touchdown before the end of the first half. Kendall out there making plays as well. Have to think Thomas is in for a big contract after this breakout year.

LOL. What a shit show. Pederson put in the 3rd string QB to deliberately tank the game. Putting the backups in the 4th quarter of the last game of the season and acting like this is a preseason game. NBC panned to the Eagles sideline and I have never seen a team look that dejected. Got to be hard to play for a coach that deliberately tries to lose a regular season game.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
If you are not going to try to win, just go into the game like that. Playing your starters all game and then panicking that you might win because you are only down by 3 in the 4th and pulling your starters just makes a joke of the whole thing. The guys that got pulled looked none too happy about the decision. If any of them had any performance bonuses in their contract that they were close to reaching should be livid.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I highly doubt anyone on a 4 win team with anemic offense and injuries everywhere was in danger of reaching a performance bonus, but it's possible. Anyway, Sic Semper Gigantis

Pederson saved Philly 3 spots in draft position. Also if you watched the game it was no guarantee that Hurts was leading Philly to victory. I wouldn't necessarily feel confident that Hurts is the QB of the future after watching him the last 4 wks. Maybe at 6 Philly can get Wilson but at 9 they would be stuck with Lance, Jones or Trask.

1. Rest key starters and players from the beginning so no one has any questions about what's going on
2. Play everyone and try to win the game
Starting everyone but blatantly quitting in the 4th quarter turned the game into a complete joke. Like the commentators could barely keep a straight face.
Agreed on the impacts to the team. If you're a player why do you give a crap about a draft pick? Could be your replacement.

Stockley the Eagles benched everyone but Kelce, Ertz, Hurts and Slay. No Cox, Goedert, Johnson, Mioata, Sanders, Jackson or Jeffrey. I'm not sure what happened to Johnson or Cox but the others left the Dallas game healthy and were scratched.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Jackson and Jeffrey missed significant time this year, and by all accounts were both injured when they did come back. Once the team was eliminated, it wasn't worth the risk to their health to play them anymore.
Sanders being out isn't really that big an impact. He only had 2 games this season over 100 yards rushing. Only scored 6 TDs to go with his 4 fumbles. I wouldn't say that they were necessarily hurt by him not playing.
And as I already said the OL was in shambles this year. Lane Johnson's body is actively giving out, I wouldn't be surprised if he retires soon.
Milata was concussed against Dallas, so he was automatically out.
Cox was hurt against Dallas and didn't recover enough to play.
What did you expect them to do? That team has the highest rate of injury in the NFL over the last 2 years. A slew of starters being out in a weekly basis has been the norm for them for a while now. They weren't tanking by holding them out, they were just doing what they've been doing the last 2 seasons, and sitting players who are hurt.
Putting in Sudfeld, though..... Granted, lets also realize that they benched Hurts after he completely choked and short armed a 4th and goal pass to a wide open receiver (which would have actually won them the game). I mean hell, he was 7 for 20 for 72 yards and an INT before that play. Its the kind of play that would get anyone benched.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That short arm was 100% affected by the rush in his face. I don't bench him because he missed, I bench him because he is about to get killed. The WFT has a great d-line.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
If a playoff team locked into their seeding did the same thing, nobody would say a word. The WFT defense was coming for Hurts hard. If Philly wants him to be the franchise guy going forward, I would have pulled him out too. I don't understand all the controversy here. Were the iggles tanking the season the other 11 games they lost?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That team was broken this year. The year they won the Super Bowl they had the best OL in the league (which had been something they had established over time, it wasn't just a fluke) and it gave Wentz and Foles ages to find an open guy in the pocket. But that OL got old in a hurry and its basically a hospital ward at this point, with them not starting the same OL unit twice through at least week 11, but I wouldn't be surprised if that continued the whole way through.
It doesn't matter how good a QB they have, it doesn't matter how good or bad the WRs are, it doesn't matter how good the TEs are, and it doesn't matter how effective their RBs are if the OL is crap, and their OL is god awful. They need a complete rebuild from the inside out.
Normally, I'd be upset with their current state, but they won the Super Bowl just a few years ago. They shot their shot and won it all. Many teams cannot say the same, so in the end, was it worth it? Yeah, I'd say so.

Me and the boys seeing the Iggles get a higher draft pick and Giants complaining not being in the playoffs, because of Philly tanking, with a 6-10 record (they might have forgot the one year benched Eli Manning for Geno Smith one year to "stay competitive").
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I would 100% be pissed off if my super bowl winning coach pulled off a clown move like that and then said "I was coaching to win" afterwards 🙄
The Giants didn't deserve the playoffs, none of the NFC East teams really do. Do I wish they made it? Yes, because winning the division and going to the playoffs is better than not. Not a bad Year 1 for Judge, the team was at least competitive in every game (except for SF) this year.

I mean I'm not thrilled the Eagles posted their worst season since 2012, my main man Wentz wants to be traded, and neither one of Doug & Howie are getting fired, but come on dude. You can't seriously tell me you wouldn't be rubbing it in TKP Eagles fans' faces if the Giants knocked the Eagles out of playoff contention this way, regardless of whether you thought it was a "clown move" or not.
I agree that even if the Eagles had won last week and this week, we probably should've given up our playoff spot haha
sidenote: extremely questionable by Lurie telling them their jobs were safe before that game. Basically giving them carte blanche to do things like exactly what they did.

I would be way more embarrassed than happy if my team's head coach decided to stop trying in any close game.
the old adage is that front offices tank, teams don't. that's not what anyone with half a brain witnessed yesterday
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
It is in coaches' best interest to tank though. So honestly, the Eagles were doing the optimal thing for their franchise. Lying about it is just a PR stunt. Players, coaches, GMs, owners, fans all know and pretend not to that unless you are in the playoffs, you want to lose as many games as possible. Saying things like "You play to win" and "Building a culture of winning" is PR bullshit. Getting better players builds a culture of winning. And you get better players by drafting higher.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Honestly, I was kind of ok with the decision to tank it, if that's what they really did (not convinced about that. They have been horrible on offense all year. I still think they were just that inept and Doug really did think that Nate was their best option. People really do underestimate just how much that team sucked this year).
Drafting high matters. In the NFL there is no lottery, so you have a pretty good idea where you stand going into that last weekend if you're already eliminated. It was absolutely foolish of the NFL to put that game as the last one of the season, because it led to one team knowing it had no chance of the playoff, knowing if it threw the game they would be guaranteed the #6 pick in the draft, and knowing that throwing it would keep out one of their biggest rivals in the Giants (or hell, even better, the Cowboys, had they won). And had they won, they would potentially have their pick on the Top 10 border, and granted the playoffs to either New York or Dallas.
I honestly don't know how anyone didn't think this would happen.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I don't care if they were trying to tank. No point in trying to win a meaningless game when you stand to gain by losing. The way forward remains unclear in any case. I won't talk to you anymore about the NFL, it goes like this every time and time hasn't changed that
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Is the argument for getting the #6 instead of the #9 pick that you can use it to get Nick Foles? He's probably available and is a super bowl mvp after all 🤣
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
It's funny, I still think that guy can lead a team to a title. He has just gotten into some horrible situations over his career and I think that's tarnished his reputation. But you put him on a team ready to win and he has that unique ability to step up in the clutch and push them over the top.

Steelers get destroyed by Browns so the Yinzer (Urinating tree) rant will be glorious.
Saints lose to Bears to hear Payton complain about a random rule when in reality it's the Saints playing down to competition (also worse thing to happen to the Bears).
Bruce tries to make Brady throw long for some reason at Fed Ex "Destroyer of Knees and Ankles" Field and lose.
Derrick Henry crushes those beneath him and Josh Norman's more victims (BY GAWD Derrick they have families).

Due to the fact that my Boys beat themselves and the Iggles couldn't beat Washington, this is what I would like to see:
I would love to see Brady get pancaked by Timmy and become embedded into the field as he throws a pick to Kendall. If Brady weren't playing for TB, I would love the Bucs to win. Logan can have a good game.
I would like to see the Bears win and Kyle get a pick 6.
Pulling for Tremaine and the Bills.
I like the Seahawks (Duane Brown)
Ravens (Chuck Clark)
I am torn about the Steelers/Browns... Both teams have Hokies... But the Steelers already have 6 rings....
I think it would be pure craziness if it was the Bills and Steelers in the AFC Championship... Baby brother against his big brother(s)---since Trey is on IR.
The playoffs could (not likely but not impossible) have 2 sets of Hokie Brothers playing against each other... If the stars lined up just so, Kendall and Kyle could face off and Tremaine and Terrell could face off..
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
With Bills at 2 and Steelers at 3, I think the only place they could meet up is the second round. They would eliminate the 6 and 7 seeds in round 1, so the 4/5 winner would play the Chiefs in round 2.
The Fuller on Fuller action would have to be in the NFC Championship. Bears (7) and WFT (4) would eliminate the 2 and 5 seeds, so the Bears would play the 1 seed and the WFT play the winner of the 3/6 game.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
True. I know it is basically impossible (although the Steelers/Bills match up is more likely), but it would be crazy if the brothers got to play against each other...

Logan Thomas 1st TD of the season for the Washington Team.
Left him on the bench for fantasy, could be a mistake
Doubt it. Dwayne Can't Throw A Forward Pass Haskins isn't going to do that a whole lot today.
Just enough to get it done, shocked but the Whatevers defense was something to watch after the third drive of the game.
As a WTF fan, I'm certainly happy that he settled down a bit. That WTF defense is nasty.
I think the Jets and Browns should try practicing.
Is the Washington defense actually good enough to win them games like this or are the Eagles just terrible?
I'd say somewhere in between. Eagles were down an absurd amount of players by the end of the game and you could see they were mentally defeated once WFT tied the game.
Isiah Ford with two catches from Fitzmagic in a loss to the Phins. Nice to see him sticking on an active roster
Looking forward to when they unleash Tua to throw to IF.
The Eagles with one of the more impressive choke jobs in recent memory. Went from dominating to getting dominated
Normally you pay double for that kind of action
Looks like LT3 might be a safety blanket for Haskins. Great game!
Who says Rodgers is washed up??
Rodgers is one of those guys you can never count out. You could put him on the Jets and they'd be a threat to win 8 games.
Regular season legend, Aaron Rodgers.
Losing record in the playoffs in the previous decade, Aaron Rodgers.
Ouch, no need to hit below the belt Chris hahaha
He hit me below the belt earlier today
Oomph. Chris = Vikes fan. Noted!!
Ok so Saturday we're cool, Sunday:
Settle and LT celebrating a win. Not a Washington fan but it's still beautiful.
I got Hokies bingo during the Washington game. Saw Kendall, Stroman, and Settle on the sidelines at different points, and of course LT all over the field.
As a WFT fan, how do I celebrate after a win?
Copious amounts of alchohol always encouraged. Wifey got a skins win and I got a Raiders win. Good start to the season...
*alchohol*
Indeed, my friend.
🤣🤣🤣🤣, I dont know how my phone auto corrected that one. But I am on beer 6 so i am actually a just a smidge glad the pack cancelled on us or this would be an exceptionally drunk weekend...
Actually look at the schedule to see who's next. (Not sure if that's due to the apathy that set in last year, or the general apathy of 2020.)
Glad to see the Redskins defense so dominant today. A little slow in the secondary but turned out great.
Really glad to see LT do well today. HTTR!
*HTTWFT
I'm rooting for it to oneday be HTTRW
Lions with a great job of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with that drop at the end. Also, Tampa looked like a clown show today
Actually it was reported as his transition to RB was not going as well as hoped so they did not want to waste a roster spot on him
I know people here don't like him because of the Belk Bowl incident, but I don't think wild speculation about his character is called for.
Multiple people have reported the trade was simply due to him not working out at running back (I'm personally shocked he didn't immediately pick up a position he's never played before in a few weeks of practice).
The report that I read indicated the Raiders were concerned about his behavior possibly negatively impacting their other draft picks and that he seemed to be more interested in looking at cars than learning the playbook.
My mistake, carry on and have a leg
Peeking at the Chargers subreddit, most of the 20 people on there are calling for Herbert to replace Tyrod already. I watched the game, he had a few errant throws but made some nice ones as well, has a tough task against KC next week though.
Also think I saw Faycson on special teams maybe? don't know if he got defensive snaps as well.
They need to let that man loose a little bit.
yea I agree, their play calling was stineyesque in some ways.
Sounds good to me.. HTTFT... lol
Chris and Kirk calling an NFL game is cursed audio.
It threw me off big time at first but I like them both and they are a huge part of my life as a sports fan, so it has settled in nicely.
At first it felt weird but I gotta say I kinda like it those guys are very very good at what they do.
I felt like boring NFL brought them down a bit. I am sure the empty stadium sucked some life out of them as well. They did a good job though.
Steelers look strong.
Rell quietly establishing himself as a part of an elite defense there. Hopefully he keeps progressing and gets a solid 2nd contract.
Yep. Always seems to be around the ball.
Went 2-0 in fantasy this week, nice.
How about that first place Washington Football Team. (gotta enjoy it while I can)
A 1st in Football Team history!
my favorite thing from week 1
https://brownswire.usatoday.com/2020/09/15/larry-ogunjobi-wyatt-teller-r...
He also picked up a 15 yarder on a crackback and almost got another one for piling on in the same drive earlier tonight.
That attitude will get him a good NFL career and a lot of laundry.
Has he regrown his mullet because we all know that is the true source of his power?
He backed it up, WK2 still at 90.1.
Looks like another long year on tap in Cincinnati but Burrow looks the part. If they can turn 75%+ of the roster over in the next few years they might be in a good spot. Or he wastes his career there. It's really hard to say.
You have no worries, Bungals QB's always look good for a season or two and then fade back to average at best.
If they don't fix that O-Line he may not survive for season two.
The defense and OLine are really bad in Cincy. I like their offense skill players. If they can find a few free agents and draft Sewell to go along with Jonah, they may be able to win a few of these shootouts....at least until they can fix the D....
Manning was the last QB picked 1st to win a super bowl and he still split some reps his first year in the league.
sink or swim. move on if bust. with rookie pay scale, it makes sense to maximize championship window with them as the guy.
Is there a championship window? It's been 16 years since a draft with a QB taken first has won a Super Bowl. I'd say the data is starting to create a trend here.
i don't even know why "#1 overall pick starting on day one" is any different than any other "first round QB starting on day one". If anything the argument is just that teams with a first overall QB are particularly poor.... but horribly terrible teams are also likely among the most QB needy. are you arguing that teams should mortgage the future to move up and get a rookie QB to try to put them over the top as opposed to drafting one into a poor team?
I'm saying bad teams that have #1 picks shouldn't play their new not NFL ready QB week 1-5 as the starter. It does nothing to help the team short or long term. Let them get used to the game, get some better playmakers around them in year 2 and make a run. QB's not named Manning taken outside top 9 haven't won a Super Bowl since the 1983 draft.
If you are an awful just awful NFL team (Browns, Bengals, Washington, Jags etc) I'd rather drop down to a 8-15 pick and get a 2nd 1st round or three 2nd round picks to actually build a team instead of hope for the best and then turn out the same way it has for 15 years of drafts, not winning a Super Bowl and only once even making it (Newton).
that's fair.
Some kind of fluke injury (in the locker room?) may cost him his starting job. He has the worst luck man.
yea and after that kind of performance against the defending champs, I don't really see how Herbert isn't starting after this.
I don't think Herbert did anything Tyrod wouldn't have done. He leaned on the Chargers defense every bit as much as TT did last week.
However, given the similarities the fans will probably want the younger and shinier new toy.
Just the worst luck everywhere he's gone
What I thought immediately as soon as I saw the gamebreak highlight and quickly saw that #5 wasn't under center.
During halftime of the Pats/Seahawks game it was reported that he was hospitalized with chest pains Sunday morning. It was also reported that the bolts head coach stated when he is healthy he will play (for whatever that's worth).
Edit: link to ESPN story Here
Chest pains and difficulty breathing? I hope Ty's alright
I think I read that it was probably due to an injured rib from practice the day before? Hope Tyrod's healthy soon though
How does your starting QB injury his ribs in practice? There is no contact between linemen anymore so I know no one is getting close to the QB. Tyrod is super unlucky in his pro career...
I read on TKP somewhere it was a reaction to a shot he had before the game to play. This could be completely false as I can't remember where i read it.
I heard the same thing on either DP Show or Cowherd's. They said it was a reaction to a pain injection he got before the game to treat a rib injury
I think I also heard the injury was in the game the week before and not in practice.
The Chargers' team doctor accidentally punctured his own quarterback Tyrod Taylor's lung just before kickoff Sunday while trying to administer a pain-killing injection
Olamide Zaccheaus with the loluva level play to cost the falcons the game.
I am always happy when loluva players lose because they are loluva...
Someone said 28-3 around the Falcon's bench in the 2nd half.
Redskins back to Redskinning again, oof
And this is suprising in what way? That's what they do.
Washington being terrible makes me happy, just like loluva being terrible makes me happy.
Heh...Dick Stockton was turning Redskins into a drinking game.
Not the best matchup for our D. Pretty much did the same thing against Philly but Kyler is much more elusive. I like the Cleveland matchup alot more next week..and then Lamar after that game...😬
I had never watched Kyler Murray play before, he looked like a pee-wee player out there he was so small. But damn can he move and throw. As long as he avoids any big hits i can see him having a fruitful career
I do see positive things with this Washington football team, and I think once Kendall Fuller gets back the secondary will be much better (although Apke is good for two or three boneheaded moments in each game that result in huge plays).
Whenever the offense can figure out how to generate first downs early in the game, things will be much different.
I dont know whether they need more receiving threats or whether Haskins is too in love with the check down, but defenses do not fear the big play. Something needs to improve there because the running game shows signs of promise. Agree that Fuller will add to a pretty god defense.
I think having a deep threat has to coincide with a line that can block better than a wet tissue. They were what, 31st last week in time for Haskins to throw? I don't think they did much better yesterday.
We do need upgrades at the WR position. But Haskins, even when he gets time, is horribly inaccurate with his passes. He left a ton of yards on the field yesterday.
That is what I am seeing as well. Very few easy catches for receivers. May be footwork issues, I would have to check the replay. He is also pulling too early of he wants to complete a pass and too late if he wants legitimate yards with his legs. I am pulling for him, but I have not been encouraged yet.
Harrison Butker is an absolute savage
Three straight 50+ yard kicks to win the game. Including back to back 58 yarders. Wow.
Imagine if he hadn't missed that xp earlier?
Its weird seeing the 12th man look like a loluva spring game
Actually felt pretty good about NE after last nights game, they never quit kept at it and had a shot to win on the last play and Seattle simply made a play late. Gonna be interesting to see how far Newton can take NE with limited weapons on offense and depending how long White is out. Gotta feel bad for James white right now with all hes going through.
Definitely would agree that Carolina really worked him hard in that element and after a few years in a row with bad injuries they kept on which was dumb. I like the threat he brings with his feet but definitely feel he has some good arm talent and has a good knack for avoiding sacks to get that extra second or two which really helps.
BTW, did anyone else think the officials in the Washington game weren't that great? Questionable calls both ways, and then Rivera had to throw the challenge flag to point out that the defense had two many guys on the field.
Hoping it was just a first year white hat not having a preseason to work the kinks out.
Welp, the Panthers are officially in the Tank for Trevor sweepstakes now that McCaffrey is out for "multiple weeks".
And we can welcome the Giants to the club as well, now that Saquon Barkley has a confirmed torn ACL.
It was a rough weekend for me. I had Barkley in one league and McCaffrey in another
Well this is two weeks in a row that my opponents has had a Packer player go ballistic against me. First game was Adams going nuts catching and this week it was Jones running and catching.
Jets seem like the kind of dumpster fire that can win that sweepstakes.
Aren't they the kind of team that would screw that plan up by winning just enough games?
Not so fast my friend. Big Mike has something to say about this whole thing.
Man I feel bad for Tyrod. His starting job is hanging in the balance already due to complications from a pregame pain-killer injection.
https://www.nfl.com/news/chargers-qb-taylor-sidelined-week-2-because-of-pregame-injection
Good news is today Anthony Lynn said Tyrod was still the starter "100%"
I thought he said "If Tyrod is 100%, then he is our starter."
That means if Tyrod is 95% come this weekend, Lynn can start Herbert and remain true to his word. Hopefully Tyrod gets another shot.
I thought a shot caused his problems this week.
That would be the injection
Shot, injection, my kids scream either way
Lynn seems like a good guy. All my bias wants Tyrod to get his job back, but the rational thing to do is leave Herbert out there
I've seen this mentioned a lot from fans and pundits alike, but the KC defense isn't anything special.
Even if he really does mean that, the second Tyrod makes a mistake the fans will scream for Herbert now that they've seen him. Unless Tyrod plays out of his mind, it's Cleveland all over again.
Wow, that is scary. I guess the Chargers are internally trying to sabotage Tyrod in order to play Herbert now. /s sort of
Going back to Browns magically running a completely different offense from snap 1 of the Baker Mayfield experience-it makes one wonder sometimes...
There are reports coming out now that he only needed to pain injections because Charger's trainers injured his ribs the week before while they were putting his shoulder pads on.
I've never played organized football so how the fuck do you get injured putting shoulder pads on?
Tyrod could have another 5+ years ahead of him holding a clipboard because he's by all accounts a great locker room guy, but damn if he isn't snakebitten as a starter.
Not to mention the nice payout he is going to get from the insurance for this.
ESPN reporting now that doctors have advised Tyrod "not to play indefinitely." Wow. I hope that doctor has a med mal insurance policy.
I'm not a doctor, but I would think that not only does he have to deal with the hole in his lung, but wouldn't this mean that the actual contents of the syringe went into his lung, not where it was supposed to go? Fluid in the lungs is never good, even if it is only a few ccs.
" target="_blank">
A great summary of what happened this week.
The Jags' new all-teals are immediately a top tier look.
Thursday night football: I have #blessed enough to go down on the sideline once during a game (the awful 09 Carolina Thursday nighter). I didn't understand the "qualifiedness" of Erin Andrews until that night. Mercy.
Also, Fitz looks absurd in a helmet.
My goodness how time flies...Fitz got drafted in 2005.
The sideline just went silent as she passed by. It was something else.
Its hard to talk when your jaws on the floor, or atleast so I've heard.
Apparently Isaiah Ford is Fitzpatrick's most trusted slot receiver
In the most 2020 thing ever, the Browns appear to be competent at football
Kendall Fuller with a nice INT of Lamar Jackson.
And RG3.
Wyatt Teller is a beast for the Browns
I really hope Washington is playing for Trevor Lawrence.
Oh come one Trevor isnt that bad a guy, why would you wish that on anyone!
WFT has inflicted 20 years of futility on fans since Snyder bought the team but they are somehow never the absolute worst team in most years. They're like the 4th worst or something.
This year they will stink it up every week but not be as bad as the Jets so Lawrence will be off the board.
Im gonna say it, the Atlanta Falcons OL is.... not good.
Haskins just benched for Kyle Allen for the skins next game, oof
Benched to the 3rd string...
And apparently his dog died last night too. Ruff week
Did his truck break down too, cause this sounds like the making of a country song.
Herbert named the starter going forward for the Chargers.
Tyrod got done so damn dirty.
Pretty messed up and also extremely unlucky.
Article link to ESPN: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30071660/justin-herbert-named-los-an...
Sucks immensely for Tyrod.
However, Herbert actually looks like he is an NFL caliber quarterback. Would be very hard to take him out now, especially since that franchise needs any and all reasons to get fans on board and to stay interested.
Kyle Fuller just killed a man coming across the middle. Clean hit shoulder to chest.
LAYING THE LUMBER
It's a fumble! Didn't think they would overturn that
Yes, yes he did...and the link:
*Edit: NFL took down the original vid.
Hit him so hard he caused a fumble, broke his ribs, and Vaughn's girlfriend died.
Edit: Why am I getting downvoted for a reference to The Program?
NFL evidently jumped on this quickly. Video blocked.
Wow, I never thought I'd see Alex Smith on the field again. Incredible. Although I am so nervous for him every time the ball gets snapped.
Same here, now i am hoping they win for Alex Smith.
Kendall Fuller with his 3rd INT in the last 2 weeks. Keep 'em coming!
Every time I watch WFT I'm like "WTF is this?"
Problem is that the entire division sucks to the point where someone's going to accidentally win enough games to screw up the draft pick.
Unless they luck out like the Dolphins and Tua -- only tank enough to get the 5th pick, but then Tua gets hurt and drops out of the #1 spot anyway.
I could not help but flinch every time Alex Smith touched the ball, glad he made it out alive with that swiss cheese oline going against Aaron Donald...
Remember when everyone said NE was stupid for letting Jimmy G go? Guess who just got benched against MIAMI
OUCH!! Dak out for the season.
That's gonna be tough to overcome in general holy shit it was gnarly.
Yeah about that 140$ million contract you did not sign.
Heartbreaking to see. I hate injuries so much.
Football gives Alex Smith back and takes Dak out right away. Feel horrible for him.
That was the worst! When I saw it, it made me shiver. Then seeing it again when they were talking about it on SNF where it was just hanging... I heard he has a compound fracture and dislocated ankle.... OUCH!
Sigh. We won, but at what cost. Glad Dalton was able to pull it out in the end there.
I feel really awful for Dak. Got a bit choked up seeing him teary eyed as they carted him off. Can't even begin to imagine the myriad of things that must've been going through his mind in those moments. I hope he he's doing well.
Totally agree with you. Really hope he recovers well and can make a come back.
I'm a WFT fan (sadly) but I absolutely hated seeing Dak get hurt like that. Just a devastating injury. And I admit I respect the guy for speaking up about mental health. Some things are bigger than sports.
Gotta imagine if he ever plays again hes going to make sure he gets a solid contract next time that injury could be big trouble for him recovering from physically and mentally.
They are already talking about Dallas probably franchising him again next year for 37 million.
"Not For Long"
So who will TT be playing for next season?
sad, but true
Saw one blurb stating that both Washington and Dallas could look at him for a backup this year if medically cleared.
Maybe it was just your wording, but if he goes to Dallas or Washington he would not be the backup.
Jets release Le'Veon Bell and oh I am laughing.
Feature back Frank Gore here we go. Let's see if he can brute force 3 ypc his way past Walter Payton if he sticks somewhere in 2021. Only 1200 yards to go.
Bell might be laughing to the bank. Pretty sure he got the guaranteed contract that he wanted. Steelers are laughing as well.
Maybe? He got paid but with his contract demands I cant see anyone going after him since its been 3 years roughly since he actually played well. Could see TB or a team like Chicago going for him.
He's signing with the Chiefs. They have enough weapons where they can take a flyer on him for cheap (won't have to break the bank since he still gets his money from the Jets) and it won't really matter if he doesn't pan out. But, if he returns to even half of his peak form, though, this is a huge win for them.
If he's managed his money well you're right. He's owed $6m whether he plays or not, but good luck getting much more out of anyone who isn't desperate.
I'm mostly laughing at the Jets too.
Logan Thomas with a beautiful toe tap catch in the corner of the end zone.
Chuck Clark just got jobbed out of an INT on a hail mary because of a roughing the passer
Kendall Fuller with a gorgeous INT in the back of the endzone for the WFT (although admittedly probably was out of bounds).
CLEARLY oob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤬
Hey if you're a Giants fan, why complain? You get the win and Kendall gets the stats.
No complaints now
Almost the exact same spot as LT's TD.
And it definitely was in bounds.
Rodgers with the hingle mccringleberry celebration only for the play to be ruled short of the end zone and then he threw back to back interceptions on the subsequent drives (one was returned for a touchdown, the other returned inside and ten and subsequent touchdown)
Love a good schadenfreude game with Aaron Rodgers. Usually I have to wait until the playoffs for that.
That's the best I've seen the Bucs play in a long, long time.
Ooh.. Tremaine was this close to getting a pick in the first half.
My favorite part so far was the halftime report when Strahan was talking about somebody being in the gap and he said "That gap was so big it was like looking in the mirror in the morning."
Touchdown Logan Thomas. Breaking a tackle and getting 6 vs. Dallas.
Joey Slye was about a foot shy of making a game tying 65yd FG.
That was right down the middle too.
I really hope he does break the NFL record one of these days
Maybe the best missed kick I've seen. And that kick would've not only been a game tying kick, it would've been the new NFL record. And the current 64-yard record was set in Denver too.
Lol falcons
Dalton Keene sighting!
Jerry Jones should fire his GM.
Who knows who will/won't be hurt by then, who will be on the Covid list, etc.
OBJ out now with a torn ACL. Just so many big injuries to stars.
But it has generated so many good memes.
Sorry, last one (I lost it at Dan Quinn).
The Trevor Lawrence/Jets one had me cracking up and simultaneously almost feeling bad for him at the same time. Will be an instant millionaire, but at what cost?lol
This is called a mismatch 😬
Sorry Terrell, at least you got the dub
Bad at putting links in through a phone but Isaiah Ford was just traded to the Patriots.
Thanks for the assist!
Poor guy, fins are trending up and Pats are trending down. At least he is still getting paid
Fullers are just built different.
Browns run game looked so much better with Teller back yesterday even though he got smoked badly for a sack in pass coverage. I would say Wyatt is goin get paid well real soon.
Looks like dalton keene is on IR for the rest of the season. Dunno what the injury is big shame for him considering how badly NE needs a TE now
Knee injury that lingered too long, and with their starting tight end going down, they couldnt afford to wait on him
At this point I really believe you could make the case that Bill O'Brien should have gone to jail for trading DeAndre Hopkins.
That might be one of the lesser things he's done while there.
When was the last time the NFL had this many fun Quarterbacks to watch? Murray, Allen, Lamar, Wilson, Mahomes, Tua, Herbert, Big Ben resurgence etc.
A couple years ago I was wonder when the NFL would get some good young QBs because they were lacking, now they have a good number of young QBs.
One of the more ludicrously awesome Hail Marys I've seen.
This did not age well.
Dec. 26, 2004..... as a WFT fan I still haven't forgiven GDub for that one....
Terrell Edmunds doing work today. 2 INTs against the Jaguars
Tim Settle had an awesome sack for Washington. Fought through a block and made an athletic tackle
Mike Evans was only a lowish 3* prospect and the 118th ranked HS player in the state of Texas... insane. This is why I get excited for size over stars sometimes.
I think I figured out Brady's problem in primetime games this year. It is after his bedtime!
Did y'all know LT was a QB in college?
Big Tim Settle is earning himself a nice second contract if he keeps playing like he has been.
It's extra impressive that he is able to stand out on such a talented line as well.
It's a done deal. I'm literally debating who to resign John or Timmy. I'm thinking let John go and get a extra year without the salary hit. In 2yrs you can dump Landon and sign Timmy and Daron to long term deals.... Either way Timmy will get paid by someone because you have 2yrs of evidence now....
Denver Broncos will play tomorrow with no QB on the roster able to play due to COVID exposure.
Wildcat all day? John Elway coming out of the executive suite? Paxton Lynch makes a dramatic comeback?
4th String is a RB. Looked for the saints defense for my fantasy team, somebody already grabbed them.
I did the same thing.... Saints D was gone in both leagues I'm playing in... lol
NFL denied Denver's request to play the offensive quality guy. I think he played at JMU? But that had to be one of the most heart pounding moments of that dude's life waiting to here back on that judgement lol part of him had to be thinking "I'm gonna live out my dream!" but then when it came back as a no, "oh thaaank god."
Tyrod just cant catch a break. A day after he decided not to file a grievance for the team doctor puncturing his lung, the Chargers are getting blasted 38-0 by the terrible Patriots. Herbert is 21-41 for 173 yards and 2 Ints, and yet Tyrod hasnt been put in, even though he was medically cleared 6 weeks ago. He has taken three sacks, two of them really bad and the team has managed less then 60 yards rushing
Maybe a slowpoke question but when did MV7 start doing the fox NFL pregame?
He's been a Fox contributor for several years.
He's been on the pre-pregame show since 2017.
Hokie on Hokie violence, Edmunds tried to run through Logan Thomas but Logan came out with the ball
LT balling out in what will be another futile Redskins effort. Hopefully at least earning himself another contract
This aged well. #HTTWFT
Kendall Fuller not having his best outing.
From the WFT games I've seen this year, Kendall is not having a good year. Been getting cooked or drawing flags quite a bit
Last I saw he was by far the highest graded corner in the NFL.
Things can change quickly tho.
Guess I just watched his bad games then. I knew he was good but I didn't think he was THAT good.
No NFL CB is THAT good. The problem is perception. New rules, offensive innovations, and ridiculous levels of WR athleticism have turned being a corner in the NFL into an almost Sisyphean task. Even the best sometimes don't look that great.
Yes. PFF ranked him #1 and Kyle #5. As someone who watches every Redskins game, he's definitely having a great season!
Last night was a rough one for him however.
https://washingtonfootballwire.usatoday.com/2020/10/29/kendall-fuller-is...
Not much has changed since late October.
LT3 just might be the most valuable player on offense for WTF.
So glad I picked him up for my fantasy football team.
Biggest WFT win in years. You don't just advance to...[checks notes]....5-7 by beating an undefeated Steelers team on the road. They'll be talking about this one forever.
The NFC East might have the worse records but they now have 2 decent teams....
WFT TO THE SUPER BOWL FAM.
Logan Thomas to the Steelers' undefeated season:
9 catches for 98 yards and a TD in his best game as a pro tonight.
Earning himself a big payday in the off-season.... HTTWFT!!!!!
And somehow that was ruled 4th down, I swear officials are genuinely dumber than rocks sometimes
So happy for Logan. The guy has persevered and is balling out when given a real opportunity. Wish the same on field success for Tyrod.
Imagine the national title we'd have if we had just played LT at his best spot. /S
I mean that was the most Steelers like loss. Did a 11-0 team lose to a top team in the NFL? Nope they lost to a team that shouldn't have had a chance.
Also good job Logan!
Steelers offense is off kilter with Conner on the COVID list.
Steelers have been averaging the lease downfield passing attack this year.
Might not be the right thread for this, but our boy Tyrod seems to be doing pretty well for himself.
Wyatt Teller is going to be rich as f-ck soon. Really soon if Cleveland knows what's good for them.
Chuck clark made me crack up in this highlight unfortunately
it's like the perfect encapsulation of being a Hokie fan these last few days.... Just when you think you're gonna make an important play..... WHAM
I think people gloss over the fact Baker, who "doesn't have an elite arm", just threw it 70+
I have the WFT game on as background noise mostly and it seems like every time I look at the TV, Logan Thomas is making a catch.
I would love for him to develop a little mojo with Tua.
oh wow I totally missed that Ford was cut by the Pats and resigned with the Dolphins
Yeah, really bizarre situation to be honest, but I'm glad he's back on the dolphins. I think he has a better chance to earn a more prominent role.
We should start a thread where we keep track of players. /s
WTF is a
reallygood football team with anything that resembles a QB (here's looking at you Alex Smith), and they are a really bad team with Haskins.I'm guessing you mean WFT although WTF might be better
I unfortunately have to hashtag them #WTFWFT any time Haskins plays
As a lifelong Redskins fan I'm only going to use WTF
Isaiah Ford was the pitch man on a little screen lateral 2pt play. Pretty cool design and successfully executed.
Chris Collinsworth just said Wyatt Teller is arguably the best Guard in football. How bout that for a Hokie shout out
Thomas with another huge game 13 catches for 101 yards
Ford caught all three balls thrown his way
Damn Redskins are sinking fast, I am convinced corny is really their O-coordinator in disguise...

The franchise will need to sign a crafty veteran for a few years and then try to draft its way into a young franchise QB.
welp....

any way we can trade up to #1 and get Sunshine?
Thank goodness
This a positive, not a welp. Heinicke came in with 9 minutes left in the game and threw for 137 yards. Haskins has been a poison in the locker room and a dumpster fire on the field. He only managed 154 yards in 51 minutes. Heinicke also had the only touchdown.
If the officials hadn't blown this call:
Along with a few others, then the #WTFWFT would have been Division Champs.
I missed that play, but damn... that ref(s) that blew the whistle needs to not be on the field next week... or ever again.
Yeah the timing sucks. If we had cut him two weeks ago we would have won the division.
Literally with the way the WFT D is playing all the QB has to do is not Haskins the game away. Philly may be without Cox so if the O can score 17pts and not create short fields WFT is winning the division....
Is that what happens when they sign a bunch of Hokies?
Quick someone name the most successful NFL QB from Ohio State.
Well it's not Haskins as he has been released
David Hale with a burn on Twitter:
Mike Tomzcak?
this.....this may well be it
Art Schlichter says "don't bet on that".
Of course, his bets are wrong.
Saw Tomczak has the highest pro winning percentage of any tOSU QB a couple of times on Twitter today. Not something Buckeyes easily swallow.
And the undrafted QB for the win!
If you're just looking at win percentage of games started, Krenzel might qualify with his .060 over Tomczak's .575.
Lol what a list! I can't believe how stinky they all are at the next level. You would think law of averages would take over at some point.
Joe Burrow
Thomas just caught a key touchdown before the end of the first half. Kendall out there making plays as well. Have to think Thomas is in for a big contract after this breakout year.
VT Football getting a lot of mentions on Sunday Night Football, thanks to LT3 and Kendall Fuller.
This game has been nuts both teams trying to throw it away in the 4th
LOL. What a shit show. Pederson put in the 3rd string QB to deliberately tank the game. Putting the backups in the 4th quarter of the last game of the season and acting like this is a preseason game. NBC panned to the Eagles sideline and I have never seen a team look that dejected. Got to be hard to play for a coach that deliberately tries to lose a regular season game.
when you can't win now, improve your chances of winning later.
Alternatively, he and Howie Roseman were just told their jobs were safe. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea
I highly doubt anyone on a 4 win team with anemic offense and injuries everywhere was in danger of reaching a performance bonus, but it's possible. Anyway, Sic Semper Gigantis
lots of players have %of snaps played as a bonus.
I think there are 2 choices for games like this:
Johnson was already done for the season by the Dallas game and Cox got injured during the Dallas game, pinched nerve in the neck I think.
That short arm was 100% affected by the rush in his face. I don't bench him because he missed, I bench him because he is about to get killed. The WFT has a great d-line.
Taking a further step back, all of this controversy is because a 6-10 team was 'robbed' of a playoff bid.
Wonder what the 10-6 Dolphins think about that
That team was broken this year.
Me and the boys seeing the Iggles get a higher draft pick and Giants complaining not being in the playoffs, because of Philly tanking, with a 6-10 record (they might have forgot the one year benched Eli Manning for Geno Smith one year to "stay competitive").
trash franchise, small minded, loser mentality
🙃
Don't act like you wouldn't be schadenfreude incarnate if the roles were reversed
Okay.
I don't care if they were trying to tank. No point in trying to win a meaningless game when you stand to gain by losing. The way forward remains unclear in any case. I won't talk to you anymore about the NFL, it goes like this every time and time hasn't changed that
gee the giants fan and the eagles fan didn't see eye to eye all two times they talked about the NFL, what a shocker lol
it was at least 3, and I'm an optimist
I wonder if Alum thinks Carson Wentz is worth a top-6 pick in the upcoming draft /ducks
If someone offers, I'd be willing to listen
Is the argument for getting the #6 instead of the #9 pick that you can use it to get Nick Foles? He's probably available and is a super bowl mvp after all 🤣
He would legit die behind the Eagles OL
It's funny, I still think that guy can lead a team to a title. He has just gotten into some horrible situations over his career and I think that's tarnished his reputation. But you put him on a team ready to win and he has that unique ability to step up in the clutch and push them over the top.
What I want to happen for Wildcard Weekend:
Steelers get destroyed by Browns so the Yinzer (Urinating tree) rant will be glorious.
Saints lose to Bears to hear Payton complain about a random rule when in reality it's the Saints playing down to competition (also worse thing to happen to the Bears).
Bruce tries to make Brady throw long for some reason at Fed Ex "Destroyer of Knees and Ankles" Field and lose.
Derrick Henry crushes those beneath him and Josh Norman's more victims (BY GAWD Derrick they have families).
gonna root for the Browns and Bills from here on in, fo sho
why can't our HokiesFB twitter account be more like this???
https://twitter.com/WashingtonNFL/status/1345949271116435456
VTMBB is an awesome account, no idea why that person can't also handle FB.
True. I know it is basically impossible (although the Steelers/Bills match up is more likely), but it would be crazy if the brothers got to play against each other...
