This team showed so much guts pulling this one out. Playing a top 5 team, not falling out of it when Nova looked like they were about to run away with it in the middle of the second half. Having the game ripped from your hands at the end of regulation. Then were able to dominate OT and get the win.

Dammit Alum, you had the rhythm and then you had to add "just" to it...it flows so much better as "Nova lost to VPI!"
I guess "just" fits, you just have to say "nova" quickly and add an extra beat to accommodate it, but the music major in me is dead bc the rhythm just isn't quite right...

If you have a shot at a top team, might as well take it. Seems like our guys were fired up for the game as well - gonna be interesting to see how we play our game tomorrow after this though. Last year we lit up MSU and then came out FLAT the day after...the team seems a bit more disciplined though, so hopefully that's true tomorrow.

This is one of those game where you can hang out hat one but still go back to watch the film and learn to improve. We have more depth and more experience, and hopefully better conditioning, to make the ACC schedule a lot of fun this year.

Bede only fouled out because of some tacky calls. The one in the paint where the guy traveled when he lost his balance and went backpedaling onto his ass and they called a foul on Bede was especially egregious.

Will be interesting by seasons end to see if that move paid off for him. Just odd to move on after he was able to highlight his game last season under Young.
With VTMBB being the giant killer and the momentum Young is bringing to the program I'm excited to see it pay off on the recruiting trail. We were all bummed when Buzz jetted off but I think long term we're gonna be much better off with MY.

Love the grit this team showed. Good game to teach with on the late foul and some scrappy play at times from the point guards but all that and an upset of villanova with only one days notice. FAM ITS LIT. Can't wait to see what cone can bring to the floor and help give us a true 3 point threat. Love what aluma and mutts are bringing to this team it true size and interior scoring.

Naw, that foul at the end of regulation wasn't bogus, just horrendously called. The incipient uproar notwithstanting, the refs got it right. Dude was set, our guy just wasn't paying attention. Coach Mike Young made that abundantly clear. Plenty of other calls to dispute, some our way, more their way, but that's basketball, innit?

He was set but he was set in the cylinder so it still should have been a block regardless that he didnt have the basketball. Problem comes in when the officials said they couldnt review it, just had signaled incorrectly who the original call was on, even though its clear they reviewed it.

I still can't get over the last play in regulation for us. Down by 1 with 10 seconds, no holding the ball, no forced shot, no hero-ball 3-pointer from 30 ft. They ran their play, attacked the hoop, scored and drew the foul. It was so perfect

I built a backyard fire pit last week and decided to have a buddy over last night for some bourbon and a cigar by the pit. Came in around 10:30 and saw the great news. Sat down at 11:00 and watched the full game. Side note: it is SO relaxing watching a game and knowing you have a great outcome to look forward to.
What a great team win. That said, I couldn't help drawing the parallel - thanks to the announcers constantly mentioning it - to last year's early season upset of Michigan St. And, we saw how that season went. So, I'll celebrate this huge win, but I still have measured expectations for the season.
