VMI played a good game and caused a lot of issue for our guards. Virginia Tech may have gotten a little ahead of themselves after some big wins and expected a cakewalk. It was nice to see the team get focused enough to hold on to the win though so ugly but it should be a good learning experience.

Our guards aren't great defensively other than Bede and Diarra imo. Radford is solid too now that I think on it. VMI also ran some nice action to create lanes but we are definitely going to need to tighten it up a bit down there or we will need to shoot better.

Yeah, noticed CMY was platooning instead of adjusting who was on the floor. Basically telling them "figure it out". Good for development, bad for my stress levels.

Back in the day, a friend of mine worked for the AD and for a while, one of their jobs was to get Cornell Brown out of bed and up and at 'em in the morning. Stoonts, can't always live with 'em, can't play without 'em.

Love how Coach MY said the team will learn much more about themselves with this kind of win as opposed to a comfortable win. A great chance to coach up his men.

After that showing, CMY needs to run their asses off with fundamentals drills tomorrow. Then give them some time off, forget about this game, and start fresh preparing for PSU next Tues.
Glad to have the W...even more glad to never think about this game again!

Good: Win, Aluma double-double, Mutts near double-double, 48 boards, +10 points in the paint, 4 double figure scorers, Cone hitting a 3, Bede/Radford 10-11 on FT, Mutts' feed to Aluma
Bad: The rest of the team going 8 of 16 from the charity stripe, 1:1 ATO, another slow start
Ugly: 35% shooting, 14.8 % from deep

Reminds me of Chattanooga last year. Not too worried but it was weird to see VMI play well on defense and not on O, complete flip of their identity the last 4-5 years

I think we were all starting to have the feel of a Hokies letdown to another inferior in-state team (even if the nature of hoops is different since even the true blue bloods can lose a stinker or two over the course of the whole season).
I know Keve is getting a lot of the shine and rightfully so, but i've been really impressed with Bede's progress on offense this year

I will take the blame. I have watched all of the rest of the games on the big screen. Last night the wife was watching something else, and until halfway through the second half I was watching on the computer. We were losing 45-41 when I got the big screen back and the rally started immediately.
Ugly win, but it was a win. If they are only going to shoot bricks in one game, I am glad it was this one.

You are always gonna have games where the ball is just not falling. Good to figure out how to fight through it. Missing Diarra and his drive to the hoop to open up the defense showed. I thought when Radford started doing a little more to create off the drive was a turning point. It was nice to see Cone back on the floor, but he settled for some poor three tries a bit too often and missed them. Off the ball movement also felt flatter then the past few games. Hopefully we will learn and get better without having had to take the L. Good win in a few ways, and more the type of win I expected than the one I wanted.

Ugly game. Nice reminder that's its year 2 so just settle down and enjoy the win the team was able to gut out.

I'm ok with even tight wins over teams we're supposed to beat. (looking at you, football.)
Tried too hard early on to use some new roster groups and it threw off everyone's rhythm

per Mike Burnop... better to win ugly than to lose pretty

I'm looking forward to CMY addressing why Diarra didn't play tonight.
"nothing negative, he didn't get his hind end outta bed"
-Mike Young on the Postgame
He ended up missing his Covid test. Will be back for Penn State
isn't not showing up for a test slightly negative? I mean we're not UNC.
UNCheat
I think he meant not negative as in a poor decision. He just didn't get out of bed. Typical college student mistake.
Probably just tired after playing in a quick tournament, traveling and school.

Not always going to hit the open shots. Rather it happen now in a game where it really didn't matter in the end.
The way we play gets a lot of open looks. Can't not like it
Nice to get the win FAM!
Good: Rebounding 18+, Mutts 10 pts, 9 r, 6 ast, 1 block
Bad: 18-27 @ line, Diarra missing 715am Covid test
Ugly: 4-27 @ 3, 21-60 from field
Good to get a wake-up call and still win FAM! I was afraid we might get that baseball bat CMY talked about after finding out we were ranked.

I was late to the post game. What was the reason CMY gave for Diarra being out?
NVM, I just saw that Jason posted it above.

10 times out of 10 I'd rather talk about how we almost lost vs how we should've won.
