Pitt and GT can't seem to get the lights going, but Pickett's arm has been electric.
Update: turns out a nearby accident at the stadium knocked out a transformer.

Feels like there's more action with games being cancelled this week.
The Pac-12 North champ was supposed to be the winner of Washington (3-1) at Oregon (3-2). But it got cancelled because Washington couldn't field enough players. So Washington clinches the division because they have the better win percentage.
Seems a bit wrong, though.
I guess USC clinched the Pac-12 south when Colorado lost. Even if USC loses tonight, their 4-1 record (80%) should trump Colorado's 3-1 (75%), since they didn't play head to head.
I'll be curious to see what happens if Washington isn't able to play the Pac-12 title game. Will they automatically crown USC? Or will they give Oregon the option to play?
Missed this last night, guess Nardouche isn't well liked.
I missed it too, and no doubt there was saltiness towards Narduzzi but I heard that Collins was irate at the refs. Looks like he was possibly making a beeline towards them.
I didn't watch the game. What was Collin's beef with the zebras?
For one, that they didnt eject a few Panthers for roughing up one of his guys on the sideline that led to a fight between the teams
My opinion on Collins just rose.
Fuck Pat Narduzzi
hahaha, eff you, Pat.
Great angle:

Nardouche is definitely an asshole, but that's a bad look for Collins.
I would say that Pitt has the ability to get under everyone's skin. The team has completely adopted the personality of their head douche.
Don't think this is a bad look. Naduzzi goes out of his way to disrespect other teams and get under players/coaches skin. He doesn't earn the respect of any of his colleagues why should they give him any
Least it might be me but that doesnt mean be a dick back always take the high road and atleast attempt to be professional or well behaved. Personally I hate pitt and nardouche but that aint a great look from collins regardless of what reasons he had to do that.
I think the bigger issue is Narduzzi whining about it. But then, that's what he does.
OK, it wasn't a class move, but it is a bit comical how Narduzzi tried to cling to his hand.
Narduzzi is an ass, but as a coach you need to know that it doesn't mean you have to be one.
Always better to take the high road.
If he's a jerk and gets you to his level, he wins.
No Iowa State to distract me from VT, sigh. Will make the VT-UVa result that much better or worse.
Pretty cool CBS sports is showing the full March on for the midshipmen and cadets. GO NAVY
While the ACC canceled Notre Dame and Clemson's games this week to help them avoid injuries and have more time to heal prep for their big game, Bama has a starting ILB (and Butkus finalist) get injured on the first drive.
edit: Should be Heisman winner (but won't) Devonta Smith intentionally ankle twisted after a play, and had to get it wrapped. Starting C Landon Dickerson also getting his wrist wrapped.
This is insane while other teams get their games canceled for competitive advantage (Clemson ND).
And anOSU will Make the playoffs playing almost half the games as the rest of the teams.
I hope they get ranked fourth if they get in at all and have to play Alabama in the semi.
I'm pulling for Northwestern (Northwestern?) to blow up the B1G's scheme next week.
Getting both Clemson and Notre Dame into the CFP is good for Virginia Tech. The ACC gets $6 million for every member institution that make the playoffs, split evenly between the 15 (including Notre Dame) member institutions. Getting Notre Dame in the CFP means an additional 400k for Virginia Tech.
I'm not complaining, Swofford is doing what's best for the ACC.
Now, is this in addition to what the bowls pay out? I remember like the Rose Bowl delving out like $20m a team for attending...or am I misremembering?
So probably what you're referring to is the "base amount" given to the conference for an NY6 year bowl. For example, UVa "received" 27.5 million dollars for their Orange Bowl bid . That money doesn't go directly to UVa, rather all of the ACC bowl money is pooled into one big pot and then split almost evenly among the member institutions (I believe there's some sort of weighted system where the teams that get into the more prestigious bowls get a marginally bigger allocation).
Yeah, that's what I meant. So...$25m for a "bcs" bowl then $6m for it being in the playoff? Not bad. Good job Swafford!
Herbie was making picks from a helicopter and Corso was making picks from a boat.
They should have gotten Pollack in a tank and Desmond in a jeep or something.
The temps should not go below 50 tonight. That bodes well for Hooker. Looking for a career night from Hooker and Herbert. Did not know where else to post this.
Going to be a little upset with one of those H's.
Hopefully if it's either it's not Herbert we need him to otherwise it's gonna be a beat down
BB is starting
Wonder who is backup; Hendon or Knox?
If youve never been to a football game and toured west point you need to it's a beautiful and amazing campus and awesome scenery for a football game
not sure if im watching the battle of winterfell or a football game.
UNC manhandling da U.
Nice. I took the UNC ML
The end of Ball State and Western Michigan had the makings of a crazy upset win but one bad lateral trumped the entire Ball State team storming the field before it was over as Western Michigan took it to the house only to experience Fuente like ending ala penalty.
Just saw that on twitter. Such a ridiculous ending.
Holy shit, what an amazing end to a game.
Breaking News: Vanderbilt has scored a touchdown! π¨π¨
And Sarah Fuller scores the PAT!
Coastal Carolina had a 7 point line for the first half. Troy put in a last second FG to make it 21-16 π‘
Duke down 28-7 in the first quarter to FSU man thats a bad look
Full on Miami implosion is fun to watch
Miami has been a paper tiger all year. Nowhere close to a top 10 team with the product they've put on the field all year.
This sucks that of all the teams to finally expose them it's Uncheat
Love Kirk saying a defeat like this erases all Miami has done this year.
Makes sense, though I would argue they haven't done anything anyway. No impressive wins on their schedule.
they beat VT though and that's always a signature win for some reason, right?
I love it when Kirk leans into criticism of a program because he is usually coming at it from a standpoint of wanting them to be better. He's done it to us a few times in the past and he's been right almost every time.
Army/Navy is sloppy as hell, but it's the only competitive game I've found today... Go Navy!
There were others but this is the most fun. Army's Superintendent jumping on the sideline is the best, if only Sands was that invested in our program. General Williams is ALL IN
UNC is going to end up a preseason top 10 team aren't they?
/S
Go Army, eat gravy, Navy.....
GO ARMY BEAT NAVY
Tony Grimes with an incredible interception on a 50/50 ball.
Grimes flashed the VA 757 hands signs after the int. πππ
Brice took a huge hit there....I think FSU will hang on to win this one. I doubt Brice returns
If it wasn't already clear, we are done with the "UNC will never be good, Mack is overrated..."-era of TKP denial, right?
Easily the third best team in the ACC, which includes Notre Dame this year.
I liked UNC a lot better when they sucked
And the talent disparity between us and them in the 2020 and 2021 classes is scary
and this is the chief reason I think Fuente needs to be shown the door...and it's super super important that the next coach is a guy who can really sell his vision and this program to recruits and get good talent to Blacksburg
Until support increases, we are what we are. I don't think Fuente isn't doing a good job of showing a vision to recruits. VT isn't as desirable a destination for recruits as so many on here seem to think. Most of our facilities are old. We don't spend money to get coaches and recruiters. We don't act like we want to be big dogs and it shows.
If Tech replaces Fuente and doesn't invest in football, the mob will be after the next guys head in 3 years.
Fuente hasn't taken advantage of the resources VT does have. I don't buy the resource argument at all. I think it's another excuse, frankly.
5 years. As you can see by Fuente's tenure. Yes, there were some people who had seen enough by the end of 2018 but most of the fan base thought it was too soon to cut ties until this year. The next guy will get 5 years.
And folks like you are the reason we don't have resources like the big dogs. When things were rolling, the investments weren't made to leverage the success on the field. At one time, Tech had one of the highest paid staffs in CFB. We had some of the best facilities.
Now, we pay like a G5. We have facilities like a G5. Our staff is small. Want to know why the game is passing us by? Really take time to look around CFB and see what the landscape is.
And yes, the mob will be wanting heads to roll in 3 years when it's UNC and Miami going to the ACC championship game year in and year out.
Most of the folks on here don't remember what it was like before 10 win seasons and conference championships. They expect "the big donors" to pony up the bucks to "fix" things. And when things don't go the way they want, they pitch a fit like spoiled children.
Then the mob stirs up a bunch of shit and wants to burn everything down. They don't care that to get what they want, they have to help with the heavy lifting. They only destroy. And when they don't get what they think they deserve, they'll continue to destroy.
So forgive me if I don't share your personal thoughts on how great things are in Blacksburg. I don't wear orange and maroon glasses and think that if we just fire Fuente and Cornelson, things will instantly get better. A lot of broken things in Blacksburg need to get fixed if we ever expect to have sustained success again.
man what the fuck do you mean by this. GTFO with that shit
Don't worry. Folks like you are the reason I will be GTFO of here. And yes. Folks like you. You constantly complain (you're not alone) and when someone tries to present cogent opposing views, you post things like above.
We recruit at a level in basketball that we say is impossible in football.
I'm tired of the excuses. We should be better than we are.
Basketball is a team with 13 scholarship players. Fixing basketball is A LOT easier than fixing football. If you don't realize that, then nothing anyone says to you will convince you otherwise.
Where are you convinced that Fuente is "doing a good job of showing a vision to recruits"? Have you seen him communicate? He is terrible at answering questions on Tech Talk Live where they give him the questions before he appears and he still is not able to provide clear answers. He regularly blames players in post game questions rather then just own it when things go poorly. There are numerous stories about how he fades into the woodwork on critical recruit visits. He has closed off the program to fans and the media. I just have not seen anything in his interaction with the public that says he puts Tech's best foot forward.
Because I read and listen to the players and recruits. I take what's said by players who left with a grain of salt.
Just because a guy isn't good at doing interviews with the press doesn't mean that in a more intimate setting that they do a horrible job expressing their vision for the future with the folks who have to execute.
Being open about when someone screws up doesn't mean you're throwing them under the bus. It can actually mean you give a damn and want them to strive for more. Too many people think that there should only be praise said. If you are going to hold the coach accountable for failures of the players, and do so in an open forum, then don't be pissed when the coach holds players accountable in the same manner. Otherwise, there is no accountability.
I also see how he interacts with the players on the sidelines. Never too high, never too low. He defends his guys when warranted, but he's not an ass to them either, even when they deserve it.
Too many people act like they want a Patton as their coach. I'll take a Bradley or Ike over those types every day of the week.
Maybe if Fuente made a bunch of who farted faces or called people out of whack then people would think differently of him. There's more than one leadership style. Or maybe he should just do a bunch of self promotion and be seen as a cardboard cutout shelling #marinades or wearing sweet blue blazers next to a cartoon duck?
I'm not a Fuente apologist by any means. I just see the mob with their pitchforks and torches out who just want to tear things down because it's what they want. They rarely think past the end of their dicks what it means when they get their way. The majority hasn't shown a willingness to build what they want. They just want "change". And they want someone else to pay for it. When it doesn't work out the way they think it should, they'll be back with their pitchforks again. Meanwhile, nothing good happens because they direct their blind anger at the symptoms, not the cause.
Fuente is respected and even loved by a lot more players both current and former than hate him.
He also just retweeted this though
I read and listen to recruits as well and a majority have shown that they have no faith in what he is putting out there. He regularly gets outrecruited by G5 coaches, let alone most of P5.
Do facilities play a role? Absolutely. I dont expect Fuente to win many recruiting battles against the SEC or top tier Big10 schools but he struggles to outrecruit in-state and regional competitors. Our2020 recruiting class was 14th in the ACC and our 2021 recruiting class is 11th in the ACC. Our 2020 class was behind Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Tulane, Toledo, Charlotte and ECU just as a couple examples, finishing 76th in the 247 Rankings. Our 2021 class is currently behind powerhouses Rutgers and Georgia Tech with Memphis nipping at our heels, currently 43rd, but mostly due to volume since we have 24 of our 25 slots accounted for. That number is set to drop precipitously when anywhere from 18-25 schools fill in their classes.
That's what happens when you spend money on your football program.
I mean objectively, I think they are top 10 this year on most of the advanced stats. They lose the Carter and Newsome and probably Dyami Brown and Javonte Williams off this years team, will be interesting to see how they replace them.
Speaking of Williams, that dude runs like a friggen truck. Wish we had him here.
Two biggest games of the year for me on the same day. Army just shutout Navy. I can only hope our defense plays as inspired as Army's defense did today. Go Army!!! Beat Navy!!! Go Hokies!!!
Those ILBs for Army. Wow!
Nec Aspera Terrent
Go Army! Beat Navy!
Yeah, I would kill to have them in Lane RN. Looks like we're in for a long night.
Army now 8-2 on the year
How does Miami let two dudes combine for 540+ rushing yards?
*giggle*
Sad!
I dislike UNC more than I dislike Miami
540+ by two teammates is a new FBS record
UNC did to Miami what we did to open the game, punching them squarely in the mouth. The difference is that they have the confidence and killer instinct to keep their foot on the pedal. We turtled into 'dont lose this' as the game progressed.
And that's all you need to know about why VT and UNC are on different trajectories right now
And I was just saying how Bronco was stupid to not go for it. VT punt return comes through again. Please fire the whole staff.
Sorry, wrong thread!!!!
PAC 12 gonna pac 12 usc losing 28-10 to UCLA
I switched over after the UF-LSU game ended and caught the couple drives of this game. USC ended up coming back haha.
UF tied with LSU. UF gets a defensive stop and would have got the ball with a shot for game winning field goal drive and the defender throws the shoe of the LSU player. Now LSU is about to try to get into range for a game winning FG try.
It's so foggy at UF they can't use the cameras on from the stands and only sideline and field sky camera are being used.
LSU destroys whatever outside shot UF had at the playoffs.
And that's why OSU getting a pass into the CFP is bull shit the other teams had to play full seasons where this crap happens but osu only plays 5 weasley games and only one competitive team but they're good enough
I started watching that game but moved off of it at one point. Just checked highlights. Sucks to be Florida, LSU was not good this year.
And yeah dang I was wondering if that was smoke or fog. Nuts.
The yeet heard around the $EC
This might be ole piss level bad but it's so dumb. It's this that is going to name the game. Crocs game
Needs to take lessons from Mook on how to do this without getting a penalty. LOL
Lol did his own teammate just bitch slap him for that?
Yes
Probably won't mean anything, but I thought this was interesting:
A Brewer is always welcome in Blacksburg
And yes, this is Michael's younger brother.
Could see him ending up at Liberty if Freeze moves on and they hire Briles
