Bill O'Brien to the Texans?

He has emerged as a favorite to head back to the NFL. With this, do you see any Penn State players looking to transfer or commits looking elsewhere? Those student-athletes have been through a lot the past couple years and losing another head coach is another tough time to overcome. Any thoughts on any of this or if O'Brien actually gets the Texans job?

While it is business, it's dirty to convince these kids to come to PSU and convince the others not to transfer then he leaves a year later.

Who will Miami try to get after Golden bails for the Penn State gig? I would nominate Time Cop, but I like him right where he is. Perhaps they should pick up Kiffen. I would love to curb stomp him some more.

Sources tell me that Lane Kiffin has been heard stating:

"Miami is my DREAM job!"

While we're on the topic of Kiffins, can someone PLEASE explain to me how Monte keeps getting good coaching jobs? Dude's coordinating an historically bad defense right now (I believe #2 all time in terms of most yards allowed in a season), ran USC into the ground defensively and really hasn't done anything worthwhile in at least a decade. Does anyone have any idea how this guy keeps faceplanting up?

He basically invented the Tampa 2 defense didn't he? He coached that team until 2008. I don't have the stats in front of me, but I remember his USC defenses being solid.

"Solid" may be generous. I remember them being really good in '08 and then falling off a cliff once Kiffin got there. Yes, they lost talent, but that's not an excuse for giving up 60+ to Stanford at home. Yardages by year (year-ypg): '08-221, '09-340, '10-408, '11-374. This year, their first without him, they're giving up 335. And again, see Dallas this year. I know he was successful years ago (the time frame is now probably measured in decades), but now? Dude needs to retire permanently. As a Stanford fan, USC was much less intimidating with Kiffin there than without him (goes for the younger one too, actually).

*EDIT* Just for clarification, for some reason I couldn't find any stats from the 2012 season on the NCAA website. Maybe everyone else wants to forget that season as much as we do?

Is Penn St the job that finally makes Charlie Strong jump? Would PSU hire a black coach?

Strong gets a ridiculous amount of support from Louisville, which is also one of the biggest revenue generators in college sports. With their move to the ACC, I can't see Strong really wanting to go anywhere. He's having a lot of success there and should continue that trend.

As for BO'B, the PSU folks up here aren't all that surprised he's going to make the jump, but with the talent he has, he could have done really well in the next few years. I'm hearing Golden and Schiano as potential replacements. No one is all that excited about either one.

I can definitely see Strong going somewhere else, because no one says "one day I'm going to coach football at Louisville."

That being said, he's a finalist for the Texas job and would take it in a heartbeat if it were offered to him.
