Wow. She could have at least spelled it correctly...
exactly what i was gonna post. i get so damn annoyed at not just what people name their kids anymore, but also the fact that nobody can spell either.
Well, they're from Alabama...no offense to anyone from that state but education isn't at the top of their list of priorities...In fact, as evidenced by some of the people I've met from there, I'm not sure it's even on the list. It's too bad :(
I will say that I've met one person from Alabama who is actually fairly smart. They're not all poorly educated but there is a stereotype for a reason. It's something that upsets me about this country. We have the resources to be one of the smartest in the world and somehow we fail to do so..it's truly frustrating.
Rant Over.
I moved to Huntsville, Alabama after graduation. It is packed full of engineers. I heard from someone it's like the second highest percentage of engineers only to silicon valley.
Outside of Huntsville, though, is much more like the Alabama you hear in stereotypes.
I would wager that most of the people in Huntsville are transplants and not actually from Alabama. But I get your point. I don't actually know if the person I met was from Huntsville or not, but he easily could have been.
oh, the misspelled childrens' names thing isnt just a bama thing, it's a nationwide affliction.
I didn't make it clear in my rant, but I was only using Alabama as an example. I'm fully aware that it's a nationwide problem. Even the 'smartest' or 'most well educated' state is going to have it's bad apples...
I may or may not be trying to convince my girlfriend to name our first kid Lane...
My sister was going to name her baby Lane if it was a boy. Now I have a Niece. :)
I couldn't name a child Lane...not after the abomination that is Lane Kiffen
Would not be my choice either. But my sister has no clue who Lane Kiffen is lol
They should rename the road the stadium is on to Stadium Lane.
A Hokie couple I know just named their first born Lane (they met and later got engaged at games).
VT fans are def. guilty of this with dogs. I must know 5 differnet people who named a family pet "beamer"
naming a pet is vastly different from naming another human being. Pets aren't going to be ridiculed by their peers in school. Pets don't have to grow up and get jobs. Pets don't understand social and cultural attitudes in this country. Pets don't develop any kind of complex based on their name because they don't understand English.
I have no problem with naming a pet after anything you want. Technically, the parents have every right in the world to name their child whatever they want but I really don't think it's a good idea. That poor kid is going to have a tough life.
It would be funny if he ended up going to college at Auburn.
*corrected: It would be
funnysurprising if he ended up going to collegeat Auburn.Note to self. Do not say "losing is not a big deal" in that house. Again Bama Fans are crazy
Reminds me of the Florida fans who named their son Spurrier Meyer (they call him Spur). Some other Bama fans called their kid Saban.
All Alabama children should be named "War Eagle" is Auburn wins and "Krimson Tyde" if Bama wins. If you people want to act like complete fucking idiots 365 days a year, put some real skin in the game.
They couldn't name their child Crimson Tide.... because there already was someone with that name from the same county.. get this they also have a kid names Alleigh Bama
Next up, Ella Bama.
Or my favorite one Ahla Bamah
