Fuente confirms DB Divine Deablo and RB Khalil Herbert are not returning for another year. Said other seniors he told to go home, recover a little bit and think about it. #Hokiesβ Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) December 16, 2020
Probably not earth shattering news, but its now announced. From what Fuente just said, there are others who have decided to move on, and we will learn about them in the coming days.

No surprise here, declare and get your money.
This could be a pretty good draft for VT (by Fuente standards), should get 3-4 high draft picks. Sell that to recruits, Fuente.
Deablo probably won't be drafted but Herbert could be a 3-5 rounder. Him with Farley and Darrisaw going in the first two rounds would still be nice though.
Don't know why you say DD won't get drafted.
He's got the frame for it but never had a super consistent year. Maybe at best he'd be a 6th rounder.
That being said I hope I'm wrong and will see him play on Sundays.
Somebody should ask Chuck Clark about how 6th-round safeties fare on Sundays.
If DD can avoid injuries and illness, he should do just fine.
Yep also just off the dome I've been watching Kamren Curl ball out for the WFT and he was a 7th rounder.
Dude... he has been KILLIN it. We got a steal there. My buddy is an Arkansas fan and when we drafted him he laughed and said that was a wasted pick. Boy was he wrong.
Remember when we were all like, "Deablo can't catch a ball, what a bust at WR"?
Deablo will have to test well at the combine to get drafted high. He has the measurables and the production but he hasn't stayed healthy or benefited from VT hype. Hopefully he runs well or balls out at the senior bowl....
As far as I've seen the senior bowls are all virtual this year.
Deablo will get drafted, probably in the middle rounds. He's always had NFL measurables and his instincts+tackling+overall play improved significantly this year. His year-to-year development despite a position change, injury, and staff turnover is a huge success story. He's been a bright spot in a tough year, and I can't wait for him to get paid and represent the Hokies in the NFL. Congratulations to him! One of the most Hokie Hokies to ever Hokie.
I look forward to saying "Viva El Deablo" on Sundays....probably to the confusion of everyone in my general area
I agree.. he really seemed to thrive in the switch from FS to ROV/SS
The latest mock draft from The Athletic had Farley top 5, and Darrisaw top 25. That's a good draft by any school not named Alabama or Clemson.
Knew it was a pipe dream for Herbert to return but I'd be lieing if I said I hadn't hoped for it. Oh well.
Good luck to them both, Id expect both to be good draft pics
It's not over yet, insert crying emoji
Good luck and get paid boys! Deablo is a hokie through and through, and to Khalil Herbert, thanks for reminding us what it feels like to have a gamebreaker at RB for the first time since David Wilson.
I also wouldn't put any hope into Darrisaw coming back. He may well be a 1st rounder.
Just our best offensive and defensive player from this year. A 5-6 year. With the 11th ranked ACC class coming in. so bright you have to wear shades. Sam Howell hanging 60 plus in lane will be grrrreeaaat.
I get it but there are plenty of other threads to complain about next year. I'll be over there with you.
I know it's a frustrating time, but cant we be happy for the players without getting snarky? Maybe just this once? Like I'm 100% with you on the perspective of the program but its exhausting to hear this in almost every comment

Yeah, it's the program's fault that our best offensive and defensive players don't want to come back and be 6th-year seniors when their draft stock is as high as it's gonna get....
Way to put a negative spin on "losing" 5th year seniors to the NFL draft.
well they should just risk an injury to play for free another year!
/sssssssss
It's getting tiresome every thread man. I know the situation sucks, but you've beaten the horse dead.
Correct, being right and trying to stuff it in people's faces, I am not sure what the long game is here you're trying to achieve. The fact is people often agree with you, but the approach always leaves everyone feeling attacked. More flies with honey and what not.
Yeah we lose them, but they get to go play in the NFL, and hopefully getting some guys drafted high will translate to better recruiting. I'm not all that high on our outlook for next year, but getting guys drafted usually pays dividends over the long run for a program. I mean, Kansas had Herbert and did what with him? We can say we were able to create the situations in our program/scheme to take advantage of his skills.
Good luck to these young men. I look forward to seeing them on Sundays. May they have long NFL careers representing Hokie nation.
Deablo has a chance of getting drafted. His Measurables are good for the NFL, if he can work on improving his combine drills and the 40, he could surprise us.
Ones I'd like to know about: Ashby, Hoyt, Taylor, Fairs, Bradburn and Johnson. Assuming Smith and Cannon are leaving although looks now like the O line needs all the players it can get.
Doesn't look like Bradburn will return, per his Instagram

I really didn't realize Bradburn was a senior already until yesterday. Time has flown.
I feel like it was just yesterday that we heard the story about him asking a girl for a rubber in class. Time flies!
Get paid, young men. Thanks for the Hokie memories.
Loved watching these guys play. Hope they get the chance to ball out at the next level, and then do exactly that
If I'm not mistaken Divine was recruited as a WR then was switched to DB early on to become our best defensive guy this year. Think he had an INT in either his 1st or 2nd game at DB before tweaking his ankle. Loved to watch him hit. Good luck to both at the next level!
Ended up leading us in INTs this season. There's something to be said about WRs who switch to defense and remember how to catch.
Good luck guys! Herbert was amazing this year and I always had more confidence in the secondary when Deablo was on the field.
Best of luck dudes! Diablo came into this program as the 70th rated WR and 415th recruit overall and went on to become a BEAST.
Herbert was the biggest playmaker at the runningback position that I've seen since.....probably David Wilson.
I hope they go get paid.
I hope they get paid...and stay healthy,
I could see Deablo go second or third round. I thought he had a very solid year and scouts are gonna love his measurables.
Herbert will go wherever top runningbacks go these days. He reminds me of an Alfred Morris type NFL guy.
I dont see Herbert going in the top running backs group. He's probably 4th rounder or so, unless his 40 time is faster than we all think it will be. But I think he can have a good NFL career.
I mean 4th round is probably a top 5 running back.
Yep agreed Rb's don't go high like they used to . I did see some analyst have him in top 5 rbs for draft .
Herbert seems like one of those guys that's gonna get drafted in the mid to late rounds, make the team but is behind a starter or two, starter goes down in week 6 and everyone is rushing to grab him off fantasy waivers in week 7 saying "wow, who is this guy? he's really productive"
Both of these guys show why it was so important that we had a college football season. They both made the most of the opportunity to play, making numerous highlight reel plays and greatly improving their chances of making it to the nfl. Congrats to both of them.
That being said, they sure are going to leave some serious holes in our offensive and defensive backfields for next year. Definitely gonna need some young'ns to take a big step forward
Could a mod edit the title to at least spell his name right?
No idea what you're talking about...................
Shit
DD could have a great combine and great pro workouts, raise his stock and visibility, and end up higher than we think. It happens. There's always some combine champs, some move up, get drafted and do great. Some turn out like Akili Smith.
I really think that 40 and medical are what is going to make or break his draft position, not that I worry about the 40, but slow 40 for DBs hurt.
Unless he does awful on his 40 it won't hurt his as much as if he was a cb. It's going to come down to medical .
For SS, the average 40 time is 4.55s, and the draft trackers seem to estimate him at 4.5. I think he'll be ok.
When it rains, it pours. Or on days like yesterday and today:
When it snows, it blows.
At least I've gotten a real good work out shoveling the inch and remaining inch or two of snow below that left over after the snow turned to rain last night.
Seriously, good luck to both of them. Hoping the get drafted and kick butt at the next level.
