Tip of the cap to the Hawkeyes, they gave the Cousins a run for their money last night but it just wasnt enough.
Good news for the Hokies though with BYU taking down San Diego State. As long as the Hokies win today, there has been enough churn to put the Hokies back in the rankings.
#9 Creighton, #14 Texas Tech, #18 San Diego State, #20 Ohio State, and #24 Clemson all took losses this week so far. Four of the five losses were to unranked opponents.
Saturday slate includes:
GAME OF THE WEEK #3 Iowa at #1 Gonzaga Noon on CBS. 6th ranked team to lose but neither will drop far for the loss.
#23 Louisville at #12 Wisconsin Noon on ESPN2. This game will have a 7th ranked team lose.
You hate to see #22 UNCheat win on a drug filled week, but seeing Kentucky drop to 1-5 is too priceless. 2pm on CBS
UCLA at #20 Ohio State should be a good battle between two 5-1 teams. For the Hokies, either team winning likely puts them above the Hokies. 4:15PM on CBS
Sunday
#9 Creighton at 3-0 UConn should be a big good battle Noon on FS1
#13 Illinois at #19 Rutgers (still wrapping my head around a ranked Rutgers team) 1PM ESPN2
6-1 Oklahoma State at #11 Texas, hate to cheer for the Longhorns but OSU is on the verge of being ranked and Texas wouldnt fall far enough with a loss, so for the Hokies, down Cowboys 2PM on Longhorn Network.
This is also a good chance to see arguably college basketball's best player, freshman phenom Cade Cunningham. He is averaging 18 points, 6 reb, 4 ast, 1 steal, 1 block, hits the 3 at a 42% clip and shoots better then 80% from the line.
Monday
ZERO Best game is 4-5 Morehead State at Clemson at Noon on ACCN
Hokies play Longwood at 8PM on ACCN
Tuesday
For those that want to catch the Wahoos they play William & Mary at 2PM on ACCN. Pretty different team this season so might be worth watching.
1-6 Fairleigh Dickinson at 1-6 Fairfield 3PM ESPN3 We shall see who Fairs better in this one
7-1 Abilene Christian at 6-0 Arkansas 5PM SECN
3-0 UT-Martin at 4-0 Ole Miss 5PM SECN+
#14 Texas Tech at 4-1 Oklahoma 7PM ESPN2
5-2 Bradley at #16 Missouri 7PM SECN
ACC Battle #23 Louisville at 5-1 Pitt 7PM ACCNx
5-2 Purdue at #3 Iowa 9PM BTN
#8 WVU at #5 Kansas 9PM ESPN2 in most years with Allen Fieldhouse I would not give the Cousins a chance but this should be a really great game.
7-1 St Mary's at #18 San Diego State 9PM CBSSN- Two very different styles of basketball so should be interesting to see which team dictates.
Wednesday
7-0 Xavier at #9 Creighton 3PM Internet Feed Ugly Big East battle, should be fun to watch
UCLA at Oregon 3PM ESPN2 Battle of two 5-1 Teams
#19 Rutgers at #20 Ohio State 430PM BTN
Friday
In a normal year I would be against Christmas basketball but this year its even more so, Big Ten should be ashamed of themselves.
#12 Wisconsin at #4 Michigan State 12:30PM BTN
#3 Iowa at 6-1 Minnesota 8PM BTN

One other note: NBA kicks off their regular season Tuesday. Nickiel and the Pelicans start Wednesday against the Toronto (Tampa Bay) Raptors, who have relocated to Florida due to Canadian rules on travel.
NAW only played in the first game, going 21 minutes and scoring 14 points. His playing time though is likely to be limited this season with the logjam at guard on the Pelicans roster. Eric Bledsoe and Lonzo Ball will garner most of the guard minutes. JJ Redick with his outside shot is going to get his playing time, leaving NAW to battle it out with Kira Lewis Jr for any other time.
Welp, Louisville playing like they were inspired by the Hokies against Penn State, down 25 against Wisconsin
I think the ACC is falling behind in basketball as well. Not sure if this is a result of the funding from the TV deals, but ACC has not looked the same quality as other Power 5 conferences to me
I think the ACC is what it has always been, UNC/Duke. The conference is talked about so highly because half the media that cover it are ACC alumni. But it is and always has been a 10 ply conference. Teams get manhandled if the refs allow it.
Add to that the fact that expansion didn't help like people thought, BC and Pitt haven't done anything in years. Cuse hasn't been themselves in years. UofL lost their coach to scandal.
Right now FSU and UVA are producing some quality teams but that was Wake Forest or NC State in the past, other than UNC and Duke its hit or miss and always has been.
little ol Virginia Tech gonna be in there soon
UCF beating Florida State by 7 with 5 minutes to play
Kentucky and Notre Dame both lose on the same day, Christmas comes early
and Rutgers takes down Illinois in a game with absolutely no defense. It was AAU at the college level. - 91-88 final
Much better game was Creighton escaping against UConn 76-74
Northwestern upended #4 Michigan State and Texas squeaked by Oklahoma State.

As if the fall of Kentucky couldnt get any better, now we have this....Calipari is putting his guy on blast.
Just terrible to see Landers lose again. Drops to 5-4 @ PennyHardawayPayU
Landers had a couple turnovers in the last minute too. Not helping too much.
He is the only reason they have several of their wins though. PennyPayU just flopping on some of their other adds. Memphis and Kentucky both with AAU style defense.
Have to wonder if he is regretting that transfer now?
I would expect thats the case
Eh, maybe he hates popcorn and needed to get away.
Cousins had a lead at the half, then Kansas flattened em...Jawhawks up 19 with 5 to go
Sorry, San Diego State vs St Marys was not a good game SDSU up 17 with 6 to go.
Nc State takes down ranked UNCheat
UNC are really all over the place this season. One minute they look okay and Bacot looks good the next they look completely flat and uninspired.
Richmond let their heads get big and Hofstra tripped them up
Bradley nearly got it done against undefeated Missouri but came up one basket short.
It may not last, but Hokies currently at the top of the ACC standings.
Remember Florida star Keyontae Johnson, who collapsed on the court, was rushed to the hospital and spent some time in a medically induced coma? He got released from the hospital yesterday and is doing better. News has also come out what happened and I think its pretty scary; heart inflammation possibly due to a lasting effect from having Covid-19. Johnson tested positive back in the summer. We've gained a lot of knowledge over the last 10 months, but there's still so much we don't know, especially about lasting effects. They don't know for sure yet if it was a direct result from covid, but I hope everyone ups their cardiac screenings for athletes just to keep monitoring things.
