Promotion or not, choosing to live in Nashville vs. Blacksburg is understandable.

Turnover like this isn't uncommon, not sure if you're trying to make a point on this. In fact, I'd be more concerned if other schools weren't trying to hire a few people away

It's a good thing for some parts but bad because it's become almost a training ground for athletic departments and alumni groups and booster groups with larger bank accounts to raid. In the last 5 years the Hokie Club lost almost its entire large donor outreach coordinators and is starting over from the ground up there.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

That's where we are in the ladder...in the middle. We aren't the top tier, nor are we the lowest tier.

And it confuses me sometimes when people are surprised at the turnover, but complain about how poorly things were run. Either it stays the way it was, which wasn't working. Or we bring in new blood and try to move things into the 2000's. But there will always be turnover in that dept.

Congratulations to her! We truly are a strong school for administration staff development 😉

Also, people frequently move on to better jobs, even outside of their organization, that suit their personal and financial situations differently.

We can be disappointed a Hokie is leaving, but here's to finding the next person excited for the opportunity!

I agree with this. Most of my big moves upward in my career have been when I changed jobs. It just is what it is, sometimes you can outgrow a role and when it is time to move up there might not always be that opportunity within your current organization. Good for her, I wish her the best.
