Our game on Saturday at NC State has been canceled— Virginia Tech Men's Basketball (@HokiesMBB) March 3, 2021
If they can get cleared to play in the ACC tourney it's going to be only 2 games in 30 something days for them. Not great bob.

This blows...
Well we will be well rested at least, hopefully cone is good to go
DOUBLE BYE BABYYYY
Quadruple bye!!!
Too bad we can't play a scrimmage against Radford or something in order to get the traditional rust off and loss-after-a-long-rest out of the way prior to that 1st ACC Tourney game. If we get to play that game.
I am sort of hoping the tournament just gets cancelled and they use that week to set up games for teams that want to play. I.E. we haven't played in like a month so we can get some games in without worrying about going one and done and not shaking some rust off. Play the games on the sidelines of the tournament if need be.
Well, I will not be betting on us in the ACCT, I can tell ya that much!
Have you ever bet on us in the ACCT? I know I haven't, I usually do bet on it and the NCAA tournament on other teams. I did bet on us in the 2007 NCAAT, but shockingly (/s) lost, so i haven't bet on us VT hoops since. Could've made some cash in 2019, though. Argh!
Not in the ACCT, I do put some money on the Hokies from time to time in the regular season...this year I bet on 4 games, I'll let you guess which ones, lol
The title says we have clinched 4th place, but don't we finish 3rd if UVa beats Louisville on Saturday?
That is correct. I've been using this website to see how current seeding might change based on various outcomes (win, lose, or cancelled)
Last time we had more than two weeks in between games we got our ass kicked by a mediocre team
Not great Bob, indeed
The upside is we get to see if we've learned from that.
GT has been on fire lately. But we do need to play more like we did against Wake.
Georgia Tech has won five consecutive games, and on the season has wins over us, Duke, UNC, Clemson, FSU, and Syracuse, not to mention a couple of very close losses to UVA. We definitely got our asses handed to us that game, but its unfair to say it was at the hands of a mediocre team.
Since Jan 1st GT has been the 14th most efficient team in basketball per Barttorvik. They have been playing really, really good ball recently.
Get in an ACC tourney game to shake off the rust, and use it to get into gear up for a deep run in the tourney that follows. Or get lucky and make the semi's. I need to look at the bright side for a bit, so I will.
We can finish either 3rd or 4th
The best seeded teams we face will either be UNC, Louisville, GT, or Clemson
The 3 game parlay I'd like to see would be:
WF def GT
Clem def Pitt
Lou def UVA
That puts us as the 4 seed, against the winner of Clemson and the winner of Notre Dame and Wake Forest
I'd rather us finish 3rd and Clemson 6th. That way we avoid FSU/UNC/Louisville until the finals. Getting Clemson as our first game after 10 days off seems to be the best option
I don't think there's a scenario where that happens.
I'm not sure Louisville can fall further than 6th.
I'm sure CMY and company learned a little from that GT game. That much time off (a pandemic pause) in the middle of a season is something no coach or team has experience with. CMY will find a way to simulate pressure and game atmosphere in the practices leading up to the ACCT. We all agree he's a great coach. I have confidence.
I don't think we can practice leading up to the tourney either? I thought contact quarantine meant that was out too?
It only applies to those identified. Last time out they had around 6 players available for practices
I was afraid this would happen, not liking the rusty finish here.
Lax and softball has also now been shut down.
