Christian Darrisaw, Divine Deablo, Caleb Farley, and Khalil Herbert all earned invites to the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine, which will actually take place during the individual schools' pro days.

Bummer that they don't get the real Combine experience, but great to see more Hokies get a shot in the NFL!
Hopefully this brings more scouts to Blacksburg to check out the guys that didn't get the official "invite".
I guess Justus Reed is first guy on the wrong side of the invite bubble. How do non-invitees showcase themselves to scouts? I expect Burmeister will throw to Herbert, but I can't think of other multi-player pro day drills. Or could VT just decide to have Reed crush some benchpress for the crowd?
I could be wrong but I don't think Burmeister can throw to Herbert or anyone else during the pro-day/scouting combine since he is still a current player. I had thought that was prohibited.
It would be awesome if Tyrod came back to throw to those guys.
Ah that makes sense. You're saying we might need a flier QB?
I'm just impressed at how well looped this gif is. well done to whoever did this
Wouldn't that also be an issue since he is a current NFL player?
Maybe if we had a guy named Vick and Tyrod both to sling the pigskin around, and time it for a recruit visit day. That's it, I'm sending my resume to Fuente for a recruiting coordinator spot!
Normal Pro days used to allow players not invited to the combine to showcase their skills. Is that actually going to change? There could be a combine portion of Pro day where "official" times and scores are recorded and shared by the league and a "non-combine" portion where other players get to perform for the scouts present. I would hope that this is how it would be set up.
Unless the NFL is telling schools to hold two pro days, which I can't see, any current or former Tech player can/will participate in the pro day that Fuente invites to participate.
Looking forward to hearing Farley's name called in the top 10.
What an amazing accomplishment for that young man given the football related obstacles he dealt with just in terms of injury, etc.
Darrisaw should also be a first rounder, but mocks seem to have him either late 1/early 2. Great spot for him either way.
I would love to see WFT pick up Darrisaw.
Farley to the Broncos
Darrisaw to the Cowboys
Deablo to the Ravens
Herbert to the Dolphins or Jaguars
Unless Herbert goes way later than we expect, no shot he plays in Jax. Robinson killed it last year, and I don't see Urban reaching just for depth.

Latest projection shows Herbert in the third round. That would be a good story.
I'll be interested to see how his skills translate to the next level. His real talent is his vision, which is harder to objectively measure.
Vision doesn't go away with age though. Like a great 3pt shooter in the NBA, he can carve out a long, productive career if he can get the rest of his game squared away.
Since there is no official combine this year, and VT is usually known for letting former players come to our Pro Day - what are the odds Tevante Beckett comes? I'd assume low because of how things ended with the school, but maybe higher since he's still friends with guys on the team? Maybe with Price here too? Could be interesting.
I would not be that surprised. Tech has hosted many smaller schools Pro prospects in the past for Pro Days. This year I could see that being more the case given the circumstances.
I wonder with the COVID restriction if they want players from outside the program? That is putting your players, staff and coaches at risk.
I am sure there will be protocols for anyone participating.
Based on our player's social media accounts, bringing in extra people won't put them at any greater risk.
Did we really need to find a way to weave a Covid Debby Downer remark into the thread?
Because it's reality. Currently our basketball team, lax and softball teams are all under COVID pauses.
Do we actually get to claim Herbert since he only played for us for one (albeit his best) year?
He finished with us, we claim him.
Yes.
NC State and Wisconsin both claim Russel Wilson. Why not? I can't fault either one of them. So I say we claim him. And let's not get our panties in a twist if Kansas also claims him
I think the better question is who does he claim? I would guess its us, as he would not have gotten attention from the league if he stayed at Kansas and his PT situation didn't change.
My panties are still in a twist with Kansas over the Orange Bowl...
Cool to see Farley as ESPN's #10 overall draft prospect, less cool to see the photo they used:

This is from the non-paywalled Best Available list. Khalil looking sharp though.
