won first two games of the series by 10-6 and 6-4 scores. Pitching so far this year has been a very pleasant surprise, and the pitchers have struck out 36 Heel batters over the two-game series to far (out of a possible 54 outs). VT has had some timely hitting with runners in scoring position, as well as some big homeruns when needed. Team is very young with over half being freshmen. Only one senior in the starting lineup, with the others being freshmen or sophs. Great start to the season, but it's early. Keep it up Hammerin' Hokies!!!

Thanks for the summary. Even though I have all things Hokies set up on my news feed, I don't get these updates regularly.
not a great 2nd inning
Yeah don't count us out yet tho
This sledgehammer thing looks a little too similar to UVA's... Although ours is a result of something we did, not something we pray and hope to do
Uh... is this a bullpen game for UNC? I missed the opening comments but I'm surprised to see the starter yanked after only 1 run and 30 pitches.
When you're trying to get not sweeped you do anything
Hurley goes yard in the bottom of the 2nd for 3 runs to tie it back up.
Next batter got plunked.
confidence boosters... these kids know very early in the season they have the bats to get back in to any game.
Guess who's back. Back again
A passed ball gives the Hokies the lead.
That is how you respond.
Anybody see the broken aluminum bat? I know these BBCOR bats are different from the ones we used when I was in school, but I've never seen an aluminum bat snap in half like that.
I saw that as well. Not many explanations to that other than there was either a defect to begin with, or the bat suffered some severe trauma that caused a fracture. I'm sure the temps today (and all weekend) contributed.
Don't know the differences really between the bats of today and those when I was a player in the 1980s, but I snapped one in 1982 right above the handle.....about the same location as the one today. Weather was brutally cold that day so I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.
Our football program state is in such a low place that unc baseball made fun at it yesterday on twitter
What has happened to this team? They have taken a dive off a cliff.
