After taking 2 in their series against unc for the first time in program history which in turn the hokies made a decent jump in the polls gonna from #24 to #18 in the D1 baseball poll and #16 to #12 in the baseball america poll. Also decided to make this thread where we can talk about the games this week. This week we got VCU twice and our ACC oppent is FSU

I was able to catch the game on Saturday and it was a breath of fresh air. Hearing and feeling the fan excitement got the juices flowing for a couple hours. This team plays hard and seems to be enjoying themselves while doing it.

I can justify it. They beat the preseason #1 twice. Lost to now #18 twice and beat top 40ish acc team twice
Ahhh so it's not just basketball where a loss to Tech will help you move up in the polls.
I mean if you looked at what else happened to a couple top 10 teams last weekend Where LSU lost a series to Oral Roberts and UC Santa Barbara got sweeped in a 4 game series to Oregon and Miami only dropping to 9th after the Tech Series. I can see why they are still top 10
I'm just being an idiot because it seems to always happen in basketball. Tech beats loluva, they jump up #1. Tech takes down Duke, they move up to a projected 2 seed. I know nothing about baseball.

Regardless whether they were mostly quality losses, they are still ranked ahead of five teams with a total of 6 losses among them that are ranked 12-16. 10-0, 9-0-1, 9-2, 11-2, and 10-1. Did they beat some powder puffs, likely but does it justify a 5-4 team being ahead of them right now? Miami is the only team Top 10 with fewer then 7 wins.
Miami seems to be getting bailed out by the fact that they've only played 1 series at home so far and 2 of their three series have been against top 15 teams.
Now do I think that any team losing a series at home should still be in the top 10 this early in the season? Not at all. But polls had them as a consensus top 5 after winning at Florida (and one poll had them at #1 I believe), and poll inertia took over from there.

Interesting on mobile ESPN app, the rankings page doesn't have us getting votes and there is no number beside our name on the scoreboard. On computer we are 18 now both in the list and by the scoreboard. Weird.
