Wow, he's grown 11" taller since that Hudl update in 2019!
Grabbed the wrong Isaiah Miranda Hudl, updated with another of his profiles

He should look into getting contacts, at least once in those clips his glasses get knocked off
*rec specs
A 7 footer with those would be an instant fan favorite
Class of '23 and 7'1"??? He might be 7'17" by the time he graduates!
Big, if true
Interesting that he playing Power Forward not Center. How tall must the Pawtucket center be??
Ah yes the classic Shrink 4 position?
Well you see, there once was a Center from Pawtucket...
Who scored lots of buckets...
That's what she said
Win Miller
Shooting Guard, 6'3, 170 lbs, C/O 2023
Birmingham, Alabama
Bryson Warren
Combo Guard, 6'2, 165lbs, C/O 2023
Little Rock, Arkansas
LOL, are we allowed to offer people under 6'6" on a MY team?
I want Will Shavers. Top 100 center next year 6'9 245 so he can spend a year practicing with aluma๐
Lynn Greer III, a point guard prospect out of Philly committed to Dayton despite a mix of CBs to us and Temple. Just further proof that I shouldn't comment on basketball on this site - cause everyone I do talk about ends up elsewhere.
Hal's grandson?
His dad, Lynn Greer, played at Temple.
2021 class?
I think after we landed Pedulla we stopped recuirting him
So if Bede doesn't return does that leave us with only Cattoor and incoming freshman Pedulla to play PG? I suppose Diarra is an option if he returns. Might have to hit the portal for a PG.
It would, but I'm under the impression that Bede will be staying. No sources, but from the general tone of our targets and what I see from insiders I don't think we're looking for a Bede replacement next year.
Waiting to hear on Pemsl.
And the big one is Aluma.
Barring a monster end by Aluma I think he will be back. I haven't seen a ton of draft buzz around him.
Right, but his age starts working against him quickly.
Not sure how/if he can improve nba prospects. I would assume more consistency in the 3-ball would help but that still may never get him past G-league or Europe.
But the longer he stays, the more the equation of
Minimal improvement and injury risk works against him.
If he doesn't have a realistic chance at making it on an NBA roster, and he wants to play professionally, he's better off going to Europe, and getting his money while he can, if he has a market there.
He is not an NBA prospect
2022 Suffolk (VA) point guard Jayden Epps Is a three way battle between NC State, Providence, and VT. I think he's a must get for MY
Dasonte Bowen
6'3, 165 lbs, Point Guard, Brewster Academy C/O 2022 4* per 247Sports
I'm thinking that @Uncle_Drew Twitter handle, alone, qualifies for a 4 star ranking. Let's get Uncle Drew to B-burg.
Hokies make final 6 for North Carolina 4-star PF De'Ante Green (6'9", 205). Articles speculate he will stay in state. One CB for the Heels yesterday. Could reclassify to 2021.
Hokies in contention with UNC, NC State, Wake, FSU, and Tennessee.
It's going to be interesting how ACC recruiting evolves this cycle - the traditional powers (Duke, UNC) are down ticking, how much (if at all) will that affect recruiting and what does the trickle-down effect mean for VT?
He going to UNC๐
Yep, also I don't believe he's actually 6'9" either.
I say if we take a PF this year it's gonna be Will Shavers
A quick update on 3-star 2022 C target Riley Mulvey (6' 11", 230). Iowa has been on him pretty heavy and has a CB for him after he recently updated his recruitment:
Article makes it sound like VT has some work to do if they want Mulvey's pledge.
Mulvey off the board. Committed to Iowa.
Virginia Tech is making an impression on 2023 Columbia, SC 4-star PF prospect GG Jackson whom the Hokies offered last August. Tech currently has competition from Pitt, Cuse, and Wake in addition to home state programs USC and Clemson (he mentions former Hokies target and Clemson freshman PJ Hall as well as his dad almost playing football for Clemson). There's chatter that UNC is sniffing around Jackson, whose dad also happens to be a Heels fan.
You can find a good breakdown from last year of Jackson's skill set here.
Frank Martin seems to be looking for every reason possible to leave SC, and if MY can't beat out Brownell for a recruit, then I'll eat my hat
Brownell got P.J. Hall to commit to Clemson and we definitely recruited him pretty hard.
Let me know when you're ready to eat some hat.
We literally rolled out the red carpet for him if I remember correctly
Sometimes things work out....
Gobble Gobble Jackson?
Couple of items. Louisville let assistant coach Dino Gaudio go and promptly lost two recruits, releasing them from their LOIs. Raleigh PF Eric Van Der Heijden and Durham PG Bobby Pettiford, Jr. are both looking for new homes. Virginia Tech, Providence, and Ole Miss were programs mentioned in connection with Pettiford and Louisville had to fight to keep him committed.
Also, as a side note, UNC big Walker Kessler is hitting the transfer portal.
That Kessler one is very surprising. Wherever he goes will be a lucky program.
Probably auburn
Georgia seems more likely
I'm hearing zags now
Villanova
Virginia Tech
University of Virginia tech
I'm hearing Hawaii now.
I actually expect Kessler to go pro
Now that the season is over, I'm curious as to who we're going to have with us for next year. Especially, who are we going to have to help out Aluma and Mutts. The last two games highlighted our perennial lack of height issues.
I'm looking forward to an in depth analysis of our '21-'22 team.
Are we expected to lose anyone of note since this year doesn't count against eligibility?
That's assuming Aluma and Mutts return. Presumably Aluma will have his degree by May. Mutts is a grad transfer, so he's already on the master's. If one of them leave, I imagine we bring in a transfer to replace them because none of the other big men are good enough to start.
As far as the other big men, Pemsl was about what I expected.. He was also a grad transfer, so he might be out. Ojiako still does not look remotely ready to compete on a tournament team. N'Guessan has potential as a 4, but he needs to get some muscle and work A LOT on his shot. Maybe if Pemsl leaves, we bring in a big to compete with Aluma and/or Mutts for minutes.
As far as guards, I would imagine that Bede leaves. He's gonna have a master's I think. Also, why would 4 year starter Storm Murphy come to VT to split minutes with Bede? We should still have Alleyne and Radford starting, with Cone and Cattoor playing big minutes off the bench. Maybe some extra minutes for Bamisile.
Mike Young did mention wanting to move Aluma to the 4 and Mutts maybe to the 3. I'm not a fan of that idea, because that forces either Alleyne or Radford to the bench, which would be crazy. Probably at least one of our good guards would transfer too.
ankle depth...
Barring exit(s) via the portal (no rumors...yet), we have exactly one opening (vice-Pemsl) and we are purportedly looking for a 5 or 4.
edit: spoke too soon; Bam gone : (
Offseason...Cone, Ojiako, and Maddox need to get healthy; Bamisile and Ojiako need to learn to play defense with their feet on the floor; Radford and Mutts need to shoot a few thousand practice 3's, and everyone needs to get a little stronger
Next year should look like a more experienced, deeper, and more versatile version of this year with more perimeter threats (and less defense) especially at the point and hopefully a little more muscle under the basket.
Should be fun.
More portal news that should interest any program looking for a 6'11" 237 big from Virginia. Qudus Wahab is leaving Georgetown where he averaged 12.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game last season. The Hokies recruited him heavily out of Flint Hill, making his top 5 along with Georgetown, Syracuse, Pitt, and UConn.
literally just came here to post this
I remember refreshing that dude's Twitter page the day of his decision hoping to see Orange and Maroon. That feels like a lifetime ago.
This would be a home-run pickup. Hell of a player, would allow everyone to shift to their natural positions.
Deleting comment. Meant to reply to post above.
Pettiford, PG decommit from Louisville, to Kansas.
